This story is so sad! It’s really good though, well done! I don’t think we need to enforce the deadline. I would want ours to be judged in this case, because I went full comedy, and you were much more serious, so it’s not really possible to realistically compare them in a meaningful way. Thanks for the congrats though!
@rae @savannah_grace2009 @jonas @highscribeofaetheriumI don’t think I can do this one this month. It’s essentially the same prompt as the first, but more specific, but here’s my immediate idea of what I would have done if I did participate:
A character that has the ability to literally “bottle up” their emotions via some form of magic. After some tragic event, they would bottle up the pain, making them feel more normal. Over time however, they start to seal away all their pain, wanting to live without. Instead of building up pressure, they just start to become dull and numb, sealing away all emotions. They feel completely indifferent towards another even more personal and tragic event, and this is where they realize they’ve gone too far. Likely another character would then break the bottle, giving all the emotions to the main character all at once in a single stroke of agony. The main character would resist it all in the moment, steering them towards insanity. The conflict would end when they finally accept the pain, and for the first time in a long time, they would simply cry, then a hint of a grateful smile would appear on their face.
I could use this idea in the Septrum, because the mind stone would have properties similar to this already, and there’s some interesting characters that do different things with it.
He is perfect in Justice, yet He is perfect in Mercy, even when we fail Him. For this, He is good.

I probably won’t be able to participate in the next one because I’m going to be in Door County (the lil Wisconsin peninsula that sticks out into Lake Michigan) from tomorrow to the rest of the week.

Write a story in first person in a genre you don’t write in ever.
500-5000 words.
