@sparrowhawke Haha, mood, it’s so frustrating to chase after those little plot bunny troublemakers >:P OH MY WORD THAT SERIOUSLY SOUNDS SUPER COOL THO. I looooove messing around with tropes XD Count me in as a future beta reader for you! 😉 Sounds so good… oh man… VERY COOL.
W-wait, really? I get to rant…? 😮 Well, all right then!!! I will make a separate post about this!!! XD It’s a trilogy of trilogies now, my main series. Lemme respond to everything else you said in this post and then I’ll make a new one >:D haha my world is so complicated XD life of a paracosmist
Oh, yeah, I get that. :p I really need to listen to more of TOP, haha… can you give me a list of reccs that I can work my way through listening? 🙂
Yo, those sound really cool. I’ll have to check them out! 😀
LOL. Anyone who apologizes for puns is not to be trusted. 😉
Also, you’ve watched ATLA?? I LOVE THAT SHOW!!! :DDD <333

i'll make the winter now my homeSeptember 4, 2021 at 2:52 pm #104181that’s cool! I didn’t know that abt the mbti.
Percy Jackson is great. The first few books and most of the HoO books are the best, I think. Magnus Chase and Kane Chronicles are pretty good, but weren’t enough for me to finish them, ig XD. The writing, the plot holes, the timelines, yea, they could be better, I’ll admit. Trials of Apollo wasn’t very good in my opinion(I disliked it very much), and mostly, I wanna say Rick Riordan made it for the money. First person, absolutely.
YES. This is Jinora from LoK. Imma brief you really quickly on Korra, if you don’t like romance, season one is NOT for you. Or part of season two. And bits of season three. Four–season four was actually pretty good(it was the only season with development–real development–in Korra herself).
Atla was, and probably always will be, amazing. I will never turn down a fellow atla fan’s enthusiasm.
September 4, 2021 at 10:18 pm #104186@sparrowhawke Sorry this is a late reply! I meant to detail my series earlier but we ended up going out and I didn’t get time. >:P
So. Just sayin’…. you asked for this. XD Now, I trust y’all on KP, but obviously please dont steal my intellectual property or anything, blah blah blah. ;P I’ve spent a few years on this XD
So this is my series in chronological order. forgive me, i havent made blurbs for like ANY of these lol so i’m making it up as i go XDD
The Travelers’ Caravan
HISTORICAL TRILOGY
The War in The Woods
Set three hundred years before The Azure Diamond‘s events. The woods are where the faeries dwell. Everyone gets along and they mingle, things are great. But then segregation rears its ugly head, and suddenly division strikes among the faeries. The sprites and the pixies break apart. The elves, the naiads, and the dryads disassociate. The gnomes and dwarves hate each other. And war breaks out.
Along the way, curses are placed, aera exploited till it runs dry, and heroic faeries fall. The beautiful country of Ga’lora is divided into seven kingdoms along the way. This is a full-blown war in the woods… at the end of it all, will anything mend?
The Merchants of Ga’lora (pending title)
Forgive me, I really haven’t plotted like ANYTHING on this book. All I know is that it involves merchants and conflict. XD
The Dragon Princess
The overthrow of a bloodline.
The fall of a country.
And one princess caught right in the middle of – and possibly even the cause – of it all.
Shai-Ciunelle Days, preferably known as Ciun, is the princess of Aer’eth. Things are well-made for her – she lives in a giant castle, after all. But the fact that she can’t escape is that this is not what she wants. She doesn’t want to be a dinky princess. She wants to go off and adventure, and perhaps become a famous bounty hunter along the way, but the fact that her parents barely ever let her go off the castle grounds certainly doesn’t help.
And so she runs away from home one night, slipping out behind the backs of the entire castle. Little does she know that this is exactly the opportunity they were waiting for: the Embers, her parents’ advisors. And soon after she’s gone, the Embers, thirsting for power, overthrow her parents in their weak moment. They declare the largest territory, Aer’eth, for themselves and change its name to Ther’ea. And they won’t stop there. They’re looking to conquer all Ga’lora.
This is what Ciun has always wanted… right? She’s free now! She can do whatever she wants! She’s no longer bound to the royal family!
But she never liked the Embers anyways.
What will Princess Ciun do?
PREQUEL TRILOGY
The Hero Born of Heartbreak (pending title)
(this might be one of my fave books of the WHOLE DANG SERIES tho XD)
Tàe. Tàe Rín. The most painfully shy of all the Hansiae elves. And the most unique, too, and not necessarily for a good reason: he has no aera. He cannot heal, he cannot protect himself. No aera at all. And he hates it. He is the only one without aera. Even his little sister has aera. He is an anomaly.
And when a creature with negative mana attacks the settlement, somehow, things are twisted and Tàe is blamed as being the cause of the creature’s awakening. And Tàe’s too shy to say anything about it. He simply can’t stand up for himself.
Thus, with no defense in his name, Tàe is exiled from the settlement, forced to leave behind his home and his little sister, Chí, who is so very dear to him. And so, left with nothing but his own emotions and insecurities, he’s forced to create a life for himself – somehow. It’s not much of a life anyways. Every day is a constant reminder that he’s on his own and that nobody loves him anymore. He’s heartbroken.
Until he’s asked, “Why not defeat the creature attacking the settlement, prove your innocence, and return?” It’s a good plan, except for the fact that Tàe loves the Good Creator (God in my series) and the Good Creator teaches that all life is beautiful, every beast and creature. So he cannot kill it.
However, one way that the threat of the creature could be thwarted is if it exhausts its mana (creatures have limited aera but faeries don’t). But if there is too much aera concentrated in one body, be it good or bad or a mix of both, then any faerie or creature will die.
And since Tàe has no aera, he can withstand negative aera in his body for a much longer time than any other faerie ever could.
Can he be a hero?
How much is Tàe willing to give for the ones he loves?
The Calamitous Crossing of Diel Saigon
Recounting the tale of Diel Saigon, who readers met in The Azure Diamond. When Diel Saigon, a young Terbican girl, encounters a dying sprite named Sje in the northern Terbican woods, she knows something is wrong. After all, faeries are never seen so far north. Sje entrusts Diel with a shard of the Azure Diamond and tells her to protect it at all costs.
Little does Diel know that this is one of the most wanted objects in the entire country of Ga’lora. The royal family wants it so that they can gather the shards and destroy the diamond once it is complete, its aera never to heal anyone again. Merchants want it so that they can sell it for millions of roche. Everyone wants, wants, wants.
Diel’s journey takes her all through the kingdoms as she works to keep the shard out of the hands of evil – and as she searches for someone righteous to pass it on to.
The Travelers’ Journey
Recounting the backstories of Ripley, Marge, and Daph, who readers surely know, as they were first met in The Azure Diamond. Ma’arjorà and Dàphne Days are twins from Ther’ea. Their parents love them, and they love their parents dearly, as they have a wonderful, cozy home life. But when a tragic fire – intentionally set, it seems – plagues their home, Marge and Daph are forced from the only life they’ve ever known and into the harshness of the world. The twins and the family caravan are the only things that make it out of the fire unharmed. But unharmed is not the right word – the memories scar them and will plague them for many a day to come.
Ripley Kuiper is just an ordinary red-haired Southerner boy. He’s from Southern Ther’ea, where the weather’s real hot and everyone’s got the strongest country accents you’ve ever heard. But this is exactly the problem. He’s ordinary. Too ordinary. Nobody notices him, not even his own family, and when he is noticed, the attention is never positive. He longs for adventure, but the small town of Nethyr simply doesn’t have it.
So he runs away.
Soon after he’s left town, a caravan on the road sees him. The two girls inside seem nice enough, and they promise to take him in.
Thus begins a series of adventures (and some misadventures) as a set of twins and a total stranger try to figure out what they want from their lives and answer the questions that surface.
Who set the fire?
Why have they been brought together?
And, most importantly, what’s in store for them?
KINGDOM TRILOGY
The Azure Diamond
Bren Saidaas had always wished for a life of adventure, but this wasn’t quite what she had pictured. After touching an aera-enchanted sapphire that brings on a curse of gradual death, Bren is faced with two options: lose strength and gradually die, or gather the six shards of the Azure Diamond to reverse the effects, a feat no one has ever done before. When she decides on the latter, she meets friends along the way who promise to help her on her quest. Everything is shaping up to look like success, until plans go horribly wrong, leaving Bren all alone again. Although Bren manages to save her connections, she still needs the final shard as time draws to a close. Life-changing secrets surface, and destiny beckons, but Bren will need to conquer her greatest fears if she wants to save her friends’ futures… and her own.
The Dragon Locket
Set mere seconds after the events of The Azure Diamond. Now that their quest for the shards has drawn to a close, the trio has a new task at hand: overthrowing the Embers. After Marge finds out that she’s the descendant of Shai-Ciunelle Days, and therefore the righteous princess of what was once Aer’eth, Bren is pressuring her to take back her throne.
But Marge isn’t too hot on this whole princess idea. I mean, a lot of responsibility, right? A whole kingdom for her to rule over? And besides, Bren wants to go all in – she’s thinking of starting a war.
When the trio confront Damias Ember, their unrighteous prince, for the first time, they are threatened – and so they must leave. But they won’t give up just yet. And when Damias’s sister wishes to team up with them, saying she wants to help them overthrow him, it looks like things might work out. So they decide to trust her.
But for some reason, no matter how hard they try, Marge and friends cannot get the upper hand. It seems like all hope may be lost.
Betrayal breathes down their necks, and Marge is faced with decisions that will change the lives of not only her, but others as well. Who will win? Will Marge regain her throne?
The Kingdom’s Rise
(This one still needs more plotting and will be told from mostly Ripley’s third-person perspective, too) Now that Marge has overthrown Damias Ember and is now the princess of Aer’eth, she wishes to attempt to reconcile and heal the damage that the Embers have done. She wants to reunite the kingdoms of Ga’lora into one unified country once more.
But the three friends encounter a major problem. And there is only one person that can help them.
That person is Damias Ember.
Extremely begrudgingly, the trio is forced to turn to Damias for help. They don’t trust him whatsoever, but he’s their only option.
Marge hates Damias’s guts. Inside and out. She did NOT agree to Damias being part of their team, but when it’s two against one, two wins. Yet… as he’s with them for a longer time, is it possible he’s becoming…. good? And when strange feelings begin to eventually overtake her, who does she trust? Her mind, telling her to hate him, or her heart, telling her… something else, as he works with them to reconcile their once-broken world?
So yeah, that’s my book series! Obviously it can do with MUCH more work (and it will), but I hope you enjoyed those summaries! 🙂

i'll make the winter now my homeSeptember 5, 2021 at 10:55 am #104194@sparrowhawke *oh shoot i didn’t mean to type mana on the summary for THBoH XD it’s called aera, just clarifying 🙂
Also, aera IS NOT magic. It is power (for lack of a better word) granted to the faerie races by God so that they can protect themselves, heal, etc. It’s just their natural God-given defense like a porcupine has quills and a bear has claws. Aera only turns negative when the enemy gains footholds in a faerie’s soul and makes them jealous, angry, etc.

i'll make the winter now my homeSeptember 7, 2021 at 4:42 pm #104253Yeah, I heard there are a lot of love triangles in Korra and that Korra herself is not as strong of a character as…anybody in ATLA lol. I’m guessing the answer is no, but is it possible to start watching Korra in season 2, or even season 4?
Who are your favorite ATLA characters? Mine are Wan Shi Tong (yeah, I know he’s obscure but I LOVE owls), Uncle Iroh, Sokka, and Toph. But I like all of them. It’s amazing how the creators made them all very different, but all very well-written.
Wow, that’s a lot of books! But I can’t criticize you–I do the same thing. I have at least three big story ideas set in my one storyworld, and vague ideas for others and ideas for lore that probably wouldn’t get their own books.
I love all the different races you have! I have nine, including humans. And then there are spiritual beings and wild animals on top of that.
I totally get that about the aera. I’m not against magic in stories, but I prefer it to be presented as more like natural powers or in a scientific way. And then have the bad magic be something unnatural.
September 8, 2021 at 12:22 pm #104264@sparrowhawke Haha, yup. And knowing me, I’ll probably end up with ANOTHER trilogy in the mix at some point.
Thanks! I write mostly about faeries and humans, since those are the main two races in the book. But within the category of “faeries” there are elves, gnomes, dwarves, sprites, pixies, naiads, dryads, half-blood/hybrid faeries that are a cross of one or more of above races (referred to in the faerie language as bua’chyr but this is an offensive term XD) and I’m likely to come up with other stuff. XD
I have some creatures, too, like this thing called the korû, but I’m pretty lazy about fantasy creatures. Would ya help a pal out with writing them? XD What are your tips on writing about creatures? Oh, yours sound so so SO cool. Can I know about the nine races??? LOL
Yeah, me too. :p
staring at the fields
if nothing's really real
i'll make the winter now my homeSeptember 8, 2021 at 1:52 pm #104265Idk if I have any good tips on writing fantasy creatures, but I guess I could just say start with what you know and what you like. I love turtles and birds, so two of my races are a turtle/tortoise race and a bird race. Try mashing different animals together (Avatar: The Last Airbender is great at this, if you’ve ever seen it). Keep names simple and memorable. If you just need something like a horse in a story, use a horse–don’t make up something new if you don’t have to. Tolkein didn’t need to invent a new horse creature, but he did invent Ents and Balrogs.
So my nine races are (tentatively) humans (they also have a different name I’m not entirely settled on yet), celestials, infernals, fluvials, aerials, shetts, averno, ichthyons, and dracoxl. The celestials, infernals, fluvials, and aerials fall under the category of elementals and I’m getting inspired for their appearances and abilities from other supernatural and legendary creatures. So celestials are a little like seraphim and fluvials are kind of like naiads.
The shetts, averno, icthyons, and dracoxl fall under the category of wilderkin–animal type races. Tortoise, bird, fish, and lizard/dragon respectively. I haven’t done much work on the ichthyons and dracoxl yet.
All the races can use at least one element (water, stone, fire, air, or aether) to some degree.
And I’m sorry, I forgot to send you my Twenty One Pilots’ song recs! I tried to edit my post yesterday, but the editing doesn’t seem to work. So here they are, in album order cuz that’s the easiest:
“Kitchen Sink” (on youtube), “Implicit Demand for Proof”, “Oh Ms. Believer”, “Holding on to You”, “Car Radio”, “House of Gold”, “Semi-Automatic”, “The Run and Go”, “Screen”, “Truce”, “Trees”, “Lane Boy”, “The Judge”, “Heathens”, “Jumpsuit”, “Morph”, “Chlorine”, “The Hype”, “Nico and the Niners”, “Neon Gravestones”, “Legend”, “Smithereens”, “Leave the City”, “Level of Concern”, “The Outside”, “Mulberry Street”, “Bounce Man”, “Never Take It”, “Redecorate”, “No Chances”, “Formidable”, “Choker”, and “Taco Bell Saga” and “Coconut Sharks in the Water” if the darker songs are gettin’ ya down (they’re on youtube as well).
September 8, 2021 at 8:32 pm #104275Favorite time period? Hmmm… Probably the ancient time period. I definitely would never want to live in that time, but there are so many cool things to learn (and steal for writing purposes) from.
What’s something from history that’s given you a memorable story idea?
Well, I guess I usually come off as pretty quite, introverted, and errrr… awkward in most social situations, but out of all my family members I’m the weirdest (they make sure to let me know regularly) and I get too much fun out of pranking people. Of course, most people are usually more outgoing and weird with friends, but I’m kinda on another level sometimes, haha.
Also, all those top songs you listed are so good! It makes me want to go back and listen to them.
September 8, 2021 at 9:44 pm #104282This is difficult territory you tread… but if you were to jump in
and honestly I wouldn’t judge you jfoaewuiar;sdf yeI would suggest starting season one up until like, episode four, then jumping to the beginning of season three(imma rule breaker, I feel so dirty now). Season one and two were all over the place, season three was slightly better, and season four had some pretty good potential, and they developed Korra well. Also, don’t read this next part if you don’t want spoilers, butkorra season four has Toph in itMy favorite characters are the pretty basic(and best) options I’d say. You got Toph, Iroh and Appa. Also, Momo, and I really liked Zuko and Azula’s developments and I hoped to see more of Azula in Korra, but sadly, nope. Lol, I hadn’t considered Wan Shi Tong. Yea, ig I like him too. Every character was great. Even the ones with the common “anime tropes”.
Also, what was his name? *frantically google searches* The guy in Sozin’s Comet who’s birthday it was. When Sokka called everyone in the enemy airship down to the hold of the ship for “a birthday”. Ah, he doesn’t have a name. Too bad. If there were to be a special in ATLA, I’d want it to be about him XD
September 9, 2021 at 12:22 pm #104289@sparrowhawke Ah, yes, ATLA and the animal-mashing. (TURTLEDUCKSSS) Oh, cool! Those are some good tips, I’ll definitely keep that in mind. 🙂
YOOOO that’s seriously so cool. I’m very interested in the celestials, I absolutely LOVE seraph-esque creatures. Tell me more about them? 😀 And what’s the aether element all about? I’m super interested in this!!! :O
Oh, thank you so so so SO much for the reccs. I really love TOP so I’ll definitely listen to those!!! :)))
staring at the fields
if nothing's really real
i'll make the winter now my homeSeptember 9, 2021 at 1:16 pm #104299Yep, ancient history is so cool! Most of my fantasy cultures are based on ancient or classical cultures. I just like the aesthetics better than any other time period.
Ooh, hmm, I get ideas from history all the time. Mostly it’s an interesting person I’d love to base a character off of, or some cultural or worldview conflict I could mirror. I actually just starting putting sticky tabs in my history textbook to remember what events I want to base stories on! Maybe it will help me study better XD
Two specific ideas I have gotten are a character who thinks they are destined to save the world/kingdom/whatever–basically thinks they’re the Chosen One. I got that idea from the story of Joan of Arc, who believed it was her God-given duty to restore the king of France.
The other specific idea I’ve gotten (actually it’s not that specific atm) is about some magical language that has nearly been forgotten after the civilization that spoke it was destroyed. I got the inspiration for that from the fact of Latin dying and only being used in academia after the fall of Rome, and basically how nearly all knowledge would have been lost if it wasn’t for monks.
Oh yes, I’m definitely more comfortable with my family than with anybody else! Though I have noticed that I act kind of weird and very joking/sarcastic in social situations.
Got it. I think I’m going to read the ATLA comics first before attempting Korra, if I ever do attempt it. Have you read any of the comics?
I already knew Toph was in it, but I didn’t know it was so late in the series.
It is cliche to say, but Zuko’s arc was very well-done. I knew he got redeemed (literally, anytime anyone talks about redemption arcs, they always use him as an example) but I didn’t know it took so long. I thought he was good for most of the third season. I’m glad the creators took such a long time developing him though.
Azula, for me, is one of those villains you love to hate. Every time she’d come on screen, I’d say, “Oh look, it’s the fourteen-year-old psychopath.” Or sociopath. I never remember the difference.
Ah, I loved that part about the birthday! So hilarious. Yes, he definitely needs his own special. Maybe I need to write a fanfic XD
I honestly haven’t done much work on the celestials, but of the four elementals, they’re the most removed from the rest of the world. They kind of scholarly and snooty.
Really, most of my development for these races is in the form of Pinterest boards XD
Aether is like the fifth element (aka, quintessence). It’s spirit, light, reason, truth, logic, energy blabbity blab blab. Needs a lot of work. It is used for that psychological magic I mentioned earlier.
Nether is it’s opposite. Chaos, darkness, deceit, void, etc. Characters can do bad stuff with it.
I hope you enjoy the recs!
September 11, 2021 at 3:40 pm #104407@sparrowhawke Haha, they sound interesting! 😀 LOL that’s a mood about pinterest XD ooh, I love the word quintessence. Very nice. I’m intrigued about it! And the word nether is kinda cool too. 😛 I totally wanna know more about this wip XD
Thanks!

i'll make the winter now my homeSeptember 11, 2021 at 4:09 pm #104408I didn’t make up the word “quintessence”–I’m pretty sure the Greeks did. It’s where we get the word “quintessential”.
I want to know more about this WIP too. If you find any new information on it, please let me know XD
September 11, 2021 at 7:32 pm #104412@sparrowhawke Yeah, it’s so nice-sounding! I love it XD
