Hey y’all, so it has come to my attention that in our RPs (the Castle and my new Castle 2.0) Some are struggling to know what to do next or have our characters do, so I made this topic so we can come up with ideas for conflict and such!
I figured I’d look online for some ideas, and everyone can share any ideas they have as well!!
So here are some ideas I found!!!
Firstly, we need some more villains and anti heroes.
And I mean real villains. Villains who will kill, hurt, etc. or will create conflict at least. Who are conniving and such.
We can also have villains who are just mischievous but yea.
And in researching online..I’ve realized some of our problem.
We don’t have a story.
Our characters’ goals are to find each other (which is fine)
but also to “escape the castle” which they can’t do…cuz being in the castle is the whole point of the RP….
so what’s the Story of the RP other then that???
Thats some of the reason we’re struggling so much to find what to do. We need a story, another goal, etc.
Make it our own mini world/adventure/story. Forget that they’re “trapped” in the castle.
So here’s some ideas!
Conflict-
Kidnappings/hostage situations- But they aren’t resolved quickly/immediately. Maybe they last a little while, it takes democracy or a bit of teamwork to figure it out, or they have to actually search for their missing/taken comrade.
This would especially work if it’s someone the gang is very protective of.
Earthquake/Cave in- Someone or a group gets trapped. Maybe starvation or dehydration starts to set in. Fears, like closed spaces or the dark, etc. conflict can arise amongst groups with things like this because when people get hungry or thirsty enough, they’ll start doing crazy things, and if they don’t know you very well….
Sickness- Someone comes down with a disease. It can be Minor or severe, maybe even made up, or has to do with something specific to only them. They can become disillusioned, feverish, etc.
Injured/hidden injury- A character is hurt, maybe by someone else or just by surroundings. The group knows or maybe they hide it until it finally comes out (causing more conflict)
Bias- Characters who have prejudices against others, due to personal beliefs and such. They don’t have to be villains, they just have certain views that maybe are wrong or they’re trying to overcome but it causes conflict.

I don’t like him, but he always brings some conflict. 😅
I definitely agree with you, that role plays often fall flat because they don’t have conflict.
Those are great external conflicts! I would suggest having inner conflicts too. You hit that a little with Bias. Characters might misunderstand each other, or become scared of each other, or help each other work out miner phobias. Just a thought 😉

@whalekeeper yes! It’d be great to have some characters who have bias’ meet Grimm and Paxton.
Grimm would not like them and Paxton would be afraid of them.

I totally agree, and it’s something I’ve been thinking about for awhile.
I have n idea:
Let’s flesh out the world (like some collective worldbuilding) with some old discarded ideas from our stories! (Unless super depressing) like those ideas that were good but didn’t work in our books. Idk, just a thought.

Oh great ideas! I love the Kidnappings/hostage situations and Injured/hidden injury and Bias ones. We could have several of the different situations in different parts of the castle?
(Ngl…my favorite is the Kidnappings/hostage situations…they’re really conflicting 😅🤦😬)
(And, if you saw my last post in the character castle 2.0, I’ve got a villain who is evil…he has literally no remorse. And yeah, he has kidnapped several of my charries in my books 🤦😐😬…so there’s some conflict there. I might add him to the regular castle too, bc Dylan and Asher and have some trauma relating to him. And my sweet Matt too 😭.)
Great idea! Except I don’t know how I could put a white deer fawn in the castle without starving occupants trying to…you know 😭😬😐

also the kidnapping/hostage one in 2.0….there are so many little guys… 😭
and in the normal castle I’m imagining Paxton (and obviously any of y’all’s characters)
and the hidden injury one I feel like November would totally do this….
(And I’m not just speaking for my characters of course we need to use this for multiple ppls charries!! Just any ideas and such)
And a lot of ma boys and even girls in 2.0 would do this too

Ummm not sure if this is a good idea…but if we really need a villain we can use the head villain of my WIP January Hill.
The only thing is that said villain is a bit dark.
He basically poses as this one character’s housekeeper so that he can use it as a front to murder children and use their souls to gain imortality.
but as stated above I think he would be to dark and I don’t think I would have a ton of time.
