@daeus Ok. Good to know. The Count of Monte Christo? Noooooo!!! *Jots note to make sure she never violates the rule* Don’t worry, though. It’s not likely. I LOVE ice cream. π
November 26, 2017 at 8:06 pm #54536@daeus I’m already reading The Count of Monte Cristo. But I do eat ice cream occasionally, so it’s not as a punishment. π
@dragon-snapper I’ve watched the entire Star Trek: Voyager series, and at least one episode of the original, TOG, DS9, Discovery and half of the first episode of Enterprise (I think).Also, I don’t know where that quote is from. π

@perfectfifths Ya! Voyager–that’s the one I’ve watched. Who’s your favorite character? πβ β β ENFP β β β
November 26, 2017 at 8:31 pm #54546@dragon-snapper That’s a bit tricky, because it changed a bit as the series progressed. Overall, I liked Harry Kim and the Doctor throughout the whole thing. In the first half, Kes was one of my favourites, then she left, and Seven of Nine became a favourite. I also, of course, like Captain Janeway. And Naomi Wildemen and Icheb. And while not a favourite, it was sad when Neelix left Voyager near the end. And Tuvok was just fun (strange to say of a Vulcan). XD
Oh, this post contains spoilers. Warning. π

@dragon-snapper, ya, I’m kinda weird, but I really dislike sci-fi. So, I’ve never watched Star Trek. But thankfully, I love ice cream, so @daeus can’t put me in prison.

@daeus, being required to read COMC wouldn’t be a punishment for me. I love that book!
November 27, 2017 at 5:09 pm #54612@shannonΒ :-O :-OΒ Y-you don’t like sci-fi?? How?!

@dekreel, I know, everyone’s probably going to think me the ultimate traitor, but I just don’t like it becuase I’d honestly prefer to live in the real world. To tell the truth, sci-fi creeps me out.
November 27, 2017 at 6:09 pm #54626@dragon-snapper Thatβs from the Avengers! Nick Fury to Loki. (Just watched that again the other night) ππ

@perfectfifths Honestly, I have little or no experience with fantasy, and what I have read, I’m kinda skeptical about.
November 27, 2017 at 8:55 pm #54640@shannon Is it the aspect of magic that a lot of fantasy has? Because I know some Christians do have problems with that. I personally think magic is pretty cool, but it also depends what it entails, how dark it is, and who uses it and how.
But if you’re looking for fantasy to read that doesn’t have magic (or only the baddies use it) then C. S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia, J.R.R Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Jaye L. Knight’s Ilyon Chronicles are great fantasy novels for the Christian reader. Narnia has magic, but it’s more like God’s power, and all the evil-like magic is used by the evil characters. LotR is similar. Only certain people have magic, and/or it’s used by the bad guys. And Ilyon has no magic at all. It does have false-god worship, but again, that’s the bad characters, or un-converted characters.
