I have started writing an autobiography and I was wondering: would you read an autobiography written by someone you have never heard of and is sort of a collection of stories told in a comical, quirky, and semi sarcastic writing voice?

@hannah-c I would read an autobiography written by someone I’ve never heard of for the same reason I would read a book about a character I’d never heard of. 😀  It would just give it an extra flair for me to realize that the character was real…or semi-real.

Answer: Yes; as long as it was interesting. 🙂  And comical and sarcastic is usually interesting.

@rochellaine thanks. I hadn’t thought of it that way before.

@hannah-c So, I guess fantasy-exclusive readers wouldn’t read it, but those who read realistic fiction or biographies probably would.

@hannah-c  I would! I admire charm and humor in an autobiography 🙂

@hannah-c Yep. If it was funny, and the narrator was entertaining, then I wouldn’t care if I didn’t know who they were. 😀

@dekreel @Sam-kowal great. Another question: does anyone find short chapters annoying? Like if its only two or three pages long.

@hannah-c I’m not sure if that would bother me in an autobiography. In, say, fantasy, it usually does, but only for part of the book. Short chapters around the climax to make everything feel like its slowing down and giving each moment significance can be great toward the end. I think, in an autobiography, it wouldn’t bother me as long as they weren’t all really short

@Sam-kowal oh good because I have a lot of stories but not all of them can be made to fit in a normal length chapter.
