I self-published my novella, Rose of Prophecy a few days ago! It’s currently up free on Smashwords where you can download it in a number of formats. I’m working on getting it free on Amazon as well, but that might take a bit. You can find Rose of Prophecy here. 🙂

February 4, 2016 at 5:42 pm #9013Congratulations, Hope! That’s awesome!
February 4, 2016 at 6:08 pm #9015Thanks. I went ahead and got it. It may take me a bit before I read it since I don’t read e-books in the evening and my day time is busy, but I will get to it sometime.
I did take a flip through it though. Smart job putting the email sign up link in there. Just one suggestion. Put some sort of visual there to grab readers attention. It could be a beta cover of your next book or just a colorful banner saying “Sign up to receive my next book free when it comes out!” in large bold text.
And, this is something that I’m big about, I wouldn’t call your acknowledgments “a boring but necessary part”. You might say that in the actual text (though I wouldn’t), but when people take a glance at your table of contents, they will see “boring part” and go, “Oh, why did the author put something boring in here?”
By the way, the rose page break is awesome. How did you make it?
And @kate-flournoy, nice job on the cover.

February 4, 2016 at 7:00 pm #9021Oh and by the way, CONGRATULATIONS @HOPE!

February 5, 2016 at 8:10 am #9025Yes, @Daus, I’m thinking about changing the title of that section. That’s the nice thing; it’s very easy to switch out to an updated document if spelling errors or other things are caught.
The rose section break was a very tiny jpg picture (which I got from Kate). I made up a style so it would be formatted right and inserted it between sections. They came out even better than I dared to hope. Smashwords, by the way, has a free guide about how to format your book. I learned a bunch about formatting from it.

February 5, 2016 at 8:59 am #9027Oops, she tagged you @Daeus. 🙂
February 5, 2016 at 9:35 am #9029That’s sweet @hope. btw Draft2Digital will do the formatting for you for your ebook if you want them to. Since I’m planning to use vellum, that doesn’t make much of a difference to me, but it is a neat feature and doesn’t cost anything.
