I don’t know why, but I feel as if my creativity has exploded. I just feel so empowered by everything I see.
There’s so much everyday inspiration – so much stuff we can just take and mold with our hands like playdough. You are making a character. You like the smell of pesto pasta? Throw it in. Traffic cones? Throw it in. Old, chewed up gum, stuck on the bottom of a bus seat??? THROW IT IN.
Not even kidding… I have seriously contemplated the potential of ALL those three things.
Like I once joined this cooking class in a nearby town – it was this large kitchen in a high brick building – and when I went back to check on the garlic knots in one corner, there was this window… I don’t know, something about the landscape outside. The warm red bricks, the garbage cans, the concrete, the sticky hot sun, the cracks of clover and green grass, the sound of cars honking. It was just so raw and beautiful, in a messy sort of way. My mum had to DRAG me away from that window XD And ever since then – and I guess before, too, just in different ways – everything is so awesome. Like, why do we DESERVE all this randomness??? It’s AMAZINGLY AWESOME.

Aw thanks girl. ❤ Um, well yeah atm I’m working on people groups. I really just don’t know where to start. I have about 6 different regions of my kingdom and each region is a people group with their own special characteristics: physical appearance, customs, architecture, personalities etc.
I started writing out everything a little bit. Like I have the physical appearance of one region and basically how they acted before the evil and now how they act after the evil. But after that I don’t know where to start with everything else. 😂
I think in reality I just need to sit down for a lengthy amount of time and work hard on everything. I’ll sit down for 30 minutes but feel overwhelmed when I only have a short amount of time to work on it all.
Hopefully that all made sense. 😂😅

Yeah… it’s that feeling of, “oh, I know I gotta just get it done, but I’m not feeling the inspiration.” I get it 🙂
For me, something that helps to take away the overwhelming feeling, is to associate each race/species/whatever with a color, or an object, or something simple. Like a compass, a shell, or a venus fly trap. Maybe the object has something to do with their religion or overall attitude, or how they appear.
Then, while you’re developing the group, if you ever get flustered, just retreat back to picturing that idea or object.
For example, when I’m developing Calvin’s race, the Vinlins? It can be hard to picture them in my head next to all the other races, so I associate them with the color blue, and circles, and a scholarly aesthetic. That last association isn’t true for all Vinlins, but it helps me remember their past and where they are today. The color represents their looks – and the circles represent their meek and underestimated presence in society.
But maybe that only helps if you’re a visual person XD I don’t know.

Thx!!! Yeah, he’s so fun to write!! 😊❤ I’m actually working on his chapters in the story, because I decided on multiple POVs, and his is the easiest and clearest to write in the first book. That’s why I’m fleshing him out so much.
I’m thinking of giving each character a POV book, where they are the highlight of that specific arc.
So Thorn is first, then Calvin, Dogchild…
And Marcel is last 😉

But in the beginning he is by far the easiest, because he never actually meets the others until the end of the first book.
It’s like his first arc is a standalone little thread where I can do any goofy thing I want 😍❤

I am creating a new character… and y’all, I’m really, really loving this one. This child may become a secondary main character.
All I’ll say about them for now… they are from a House symbolized with the snapdragon flower. This flower, when it dries out, looks like a miniature skull. It’s super fascinating. 😉
