Waaaaiiiit a second. I’m cleaning up Marcel’s bio and I’m thinking, wait, WHAT IS HIS EYE COLOR? I can’t decide between brown and blue XDXDXD It says blue originally in the bio, but I think I’ve described him with brown eyes before. What do I do??

Uuuuummmmmmm I’m figuring that out…
They are sad. Very much so. But they just endure so much, and so silently. It’s such an underlying rhythm in the story, of hopes completely buried under all the cosmic drama and stuff. They want something, but can’t bring themselves, by nature, to make the world better for their children.

Name: Marcel
Alias: Um… Marcel
Sex: Technically IT (Inhuman, did not originally have a physical body), but referred to as male (when taking on a physical body)
Age: None, immortal, not tied to time, all the things, looks 13-17
Species: Heavenly Guardian
Appearance: He is technically not tied to the physical world, but can take on a physical form. Whenever he does, the action takes a lot of willpower and concentration. He takes two central forms.
The first form is that of a chunky ten to twelve-year-old boy, with a soft face, patchy pale and brown skin, and baby blue eyes. His hair is sandy ginger, but dyed hot bubblegum pink. His clothes are generally messy, oversized or too tight in all the wrong places – his favorite thing to wear being a dark brown sweater, too big for him.
- As a late teen, he has paler, shaggy pink hair pulled back in messy braids, has more scars, and has become overall more filled out and more warrior-like. A mesh of his first form and second form.
His second form is a twirling mass of chaos; white, to gray, to black as he grows, dozen winged, and set with a million eyes. Marcaedes, Guardian of the Heavenly Orbs.
Personality:
Year 1
Marcel starts out as super quiet and super awkward, mostly imitating Calvin’s mannerisms to the extreme – such as wearing disheveled clothes, and being bluntly sarcastic. He barely shows any emotions, other than a stormy expression like Calvin’s, only softer, and more rattish. But he gradually develops his own sense of self and humor.
Always hard-to-please, he grumbles a lot, complaining that the toast is too crisp, or the sky is too sunny, or the orange juice is too orange. On top of the sarcasm, his innocence and fresh fascination with quirky junk make lots of laughs. He loves comic books, taffy, and superheroes, discovering a whole new world of creativity.
Year 2
However, this becomes escapism. Marcel becomes more rebellious and private after realizing his own outward and inward flaws, and pulls back, retreating into himself. He begins to create parallels between himself and his superhero muses, namely Candy Kid, Scott, Stuart McKarthy, and various other identities. Calvin tries to connect with him, but it’s a rocky road. His connection with Marcaedes overwhelms him. At the end of this year, he remembers his backstory.
Year 3
Spends a long time meditating on the rhythm, and surviving many visions, he finally wakes. Older, wiser, more in tune with his warrior side.
Marcaedes becomes a major influence.
When transformed to, Marcaedes is much less of a person, and more of a plural mass. Much of Marcel’s personality is lost. This being is purely neutral, without much love for specific individuals – only for the ‘cosmic scheme of things.’ Marcaedes used to care, however, and is extremely conflicted at times – for example, he has the ability to do away with Marcel completely, but instead hides behind him as a shield in the material world, and feels obligated to shield him in all other worlds. He also cares about one other being, whom Marcel is not aware of.
Year 4

Abilities: Some of his abilities are spoilers for the plot, so this is only a limited list.
- As noted, this spirit can transform into a physical being – such as a human or an angelic creature. This ability takes intense concentration.
He must ask for permission to transform. The process is annoying, and takes a lot of mental energy. He has described it as “rather like using an old telephone, and reaching the operator, only for her to ask in a sickly sweet voice, ‘hold please,’ and then listen to a bunch of annoying elevator music, you know?”
He doesn’t know why or to whom he asks. It’s just instinct.
Whenever he transforms, his previous memories are sometimes erased, messed up, or made super distant, as if they were from years and years ago. This is primarily because his human mind cannot grasp the implications of immortality. Therefore, it is more as if he is two beings instead of one. - Immortal, and almost invincible.
- Cloud-surfs. On a golden, curly cloud, he travels around where otherwise he would not (because he’s lazy). Easiest ability by far.
- Cosmic power. Marcel can tap into immense, raw power, as if he were a superhero or minor god. In moments of emotion, he can snap his finger and blow something off the face of the planet, send fire and ash from the skies, backflip across a million miles, and turn into a ball of light. It’s one of those things that can’t be controlled, and mostly just gets in the way – like a strong man accidentally smashing door knobs or bending forks. It’s incredibly annoying.
- Has a million eyes. Like angelic beings, he can see in every direction, but his eyes are invisible. He can only use them to great success if tapped into Marcaedes.
He might seem overpowered, but he never makes these decisions by himself. Often, that invisible force in his head (Marcaedes) dictates his moves. That’s how he turned into Marcel, despite how dumb it felt.
Backstory:

Marcel’s Desire: To be as awesome and loved as a superhero.
Marcaedes the Guardian’s Desire: To follow the cosmos’ bidding, without any personal ties to anyone.
Fear: Never being important in others’ eyes, eternal shame, to remain human.
Misbelief: He can never rise to that status. He is ugly, dumb, awkward – he is worth nothing.
Theme colors: Black, hot pink, neon yellow, brown
Inspiration: SO many things… Princess Kaguya from The Tale of Princess Kaguya, Wrinkle in Time, Spiderman, Richard from 100 Cupboards, Skull from Lockwood and Co, and Monkey King from Journey to the West.
