So uh, hehe, I’ve noticed that a few peeps on here have topics for their own WIPs. This is my own thread (technically anyone can comment on it, so please, don’t ask for permission to talk about something random on here), where I will talk about…

Project Chrysanthemum. *sparkles*

Project C has been under my radar since… several months ago? At least the idea. But ever since a couple months or so ago, this has become my main WIP for the summer. I want to write a 100k first draft this summer as quickly as possible, and polish it up all nice and shiny over the school year. I also want there to be roughly four or five books? As a series.

I will occasionally update on my word count and progress as well…

So far, I started this officially last week, and am around 5,000 words in. Not much, but it’s emotionally a strong start 😂

So basically, in Project C’s world, the people are divided into distinct races, or Houses. Their designs are vaguely based on their symbol flower. I just started designing some of the houses, as you can see below. Thorn belongs to Thorchestral (that’s where she got her nickname), Cairo to Goldlace, and Calvin is half-Roshon by his father, half-Vinlin by his mother (favoring the colors of Vinlin, genetically).

These are just the first five I’ve invented… worked on them four days ago, I think?

House of Thorchestral

Symbol: Chrysanthemum

The House of Thorchestral is the most powerful house to date, although the population has dwindled significantly, and the house is not as famous or old as the Rose. Thorchestrals have rich blood, and are ferocious in all they do, not wasting time with fanciful words or parties – but instead clawing their way to the top of the hierarchy. They are quiet, but assured of themselves. Ransom Thorchestral is the current representative.

Thorchestrals typically have warm brown hair and warm features, well matched with red, orange, brown, and the occasional yellow. Brown or amber eyes. Pale or orange skin, depending on the vein. Often tall. Have the best sight. Women have round faces with hair plastered around in a circlet. They like to wear a lot of leather.

House of Roshon

Symbol: Tiger Lily

The House of Roshon is known for being on peaceful terms with the most powerful Houses, because of many family ties (see House of Rystal). Any man of this family is both well-versed in politics, and in scholarship – although sometimes this causes members to be morally divided when it comes to controversial matters. Roshons have influence in both the Parliament and the Synod, although only as far as good nature will take them.

All Roshons are colored in orange-gold and black in hair and eyes; but while the men are solidly colored without a spot on their skin, the women resemble cheetahs (considering their amount of freckles). Occasionally hair will have flecks of one color or the other, and, again occasionally, infants will be born with hair bunched like a closed blossom, pointing to the back of their skull. This deteriorates into individual strands over a short time, usually around toddler age.

House of Vinlin (Disbanded)

Symbol: Violet

The Vinlin once had a house, but were too small and passive to continue meeting at Parliament. Those who went as far as to become important were scholars, not politicians – and the group was altogether too delicate to make any lasting impression. However, when the Synod was young, some Vinlin were vital to the building of the new system. They do not have powerful blood. Those Vinlin who have gained richer blood with breeding have either been too timid (as Vinlins are) or become rather unhinged. They are now a bit of a mild rarity.

Vinlins have honey or olive colored skin, depending on the vein. Their hair is always ink black, with a unique sparkly sheen of blue and purple, and a tendency to hold a stiff shape. Their eyes are known to be excruciatingly breathtaking – black or sparkling sapphire. Body shape varies on the individual, but usually tear shaped.

House of Rystal

Symbol: White Lily

The House of Rystal is one of the oldest houses in the bouquet, and with some of the greatest influence in Parliament. Many speeches and parties are thrown by Rystal representatives, but indirectly, through another, more hands-on host. Rystals are quiet and solemn, but love anything highblood-worthy or aristocratic. They have a distant family relative – the Roshons. They are not known to become power-hungry, because they already have all the power, and prefer to sit back and watch the play. But when a Rystal turns dark, it’s a dark time for the Parliament.

Rystals are white skinned and haired, with eyes that come in many different colors, usually blue or yellow. They are born with a hair blossom, like the Roshon, except they prefer to leave it stylized that way. They are known for their slim legs and tall body type.

House of Goldlace

Symbol: Rose

The oldest, most popular house in Parliament is that of Goldlace. Be that as it may, the house has decayed over the centuries, now reduced to only a figurehead. They are essentially the world’s unofficial royalty, but without much say or participation in political matters, unless it has to do with money or fame. Its rich blood has been overtaken by the ambitious House of Thorchestral, creating the slightest bit of hostility between the two.

As suggested by the name, the family of Goldlace all have golden hair, in tight curls or ringlets. This theme is sometimes deepened with, instead, rose gold. When they are scratched, or they prick a finger, the blood glows pale pink in the light, and is practically glittery from a millennia of aristocratic treatment. They always wear gold, pink, or red accessories.

As for individual strengths magic-wise, I’m still figuring that out.

Oh, and they’re not really very based off the flowers (meaning, they’re still human, not magical fairies or anything like that), they are just bright and colorful because it’s tradition to represent one’s house to the best of one’s abilities. Still very much human.

Cool!!!! I really like all your worldbuilding!! ♥️♥️ And 5000 words is a lot already, (didn’t you just start?) I’m about 5000 words through my WIP and it took me like a month or so (I started it a while ago, I think I’m going to keep working on it as soon as I get the outline) XD

my ideas usually come from already made things (I mean yours did too, sorta taking from flowers and other things) but at the same time not ya know? 😂

…OH MY GOODNESS… I came home from an afternoon writing at a cozy aesthetic coffee shop, wearing my favorite girly outfit + skirt, and I see this… I twirled around in the kitchen for several minutes from pure joy.

So I am now up to 8k! Since there are two more days in the week, I am hoping to finish the weekly goal tomorrow (which is 10k), and get ahead during the next day?

The schedule has been good, first of all. My strategy, which is to summarize chapters and write certain pieces in greater detail, snowflake style, has been amazing. 😎

Of course, I’m expecting a writer’s block any day now… A few problems have popped up, which need to be fixed eventually… but until then, I smash the keys! XD

It’s really helpful to push yourself away from your love for the characters, and look at it with a bird’s eye view. What can I change to make this better? How can I adjust this character’s personality to fit better with the context of the world? You almost have to… not care. Or at least, be willing to kill your babies. At first it’s rough, but then it’s freeeeeeeeedom!!!

Okay I’m rambling 😂

I’mma next going to use this thread to expand on my characters, and try to explain them in a cohesive fashion. And the world.

We’re back! XD

I always intended to make Thorn the main character, but I’ve been having trouble enjoying writing her scenes –

So I’ve been changing up her character a lot.

I am going to leave the version of her in FSRP (fantasy school RP) alone, because otherwise, that just disrupts any previous impressions she’s made on other characters.

However, she is changing. I am even considering changing her name.

She will still be a representative of the House of Chrysanthemum, but I want to create a more active role for her, adjust her appearance to something more memorable (because aesthetics have always been important to me), and give her a more pleasing personality to write.

I have this writing philosophy, which is to always find a unique and fun experience in every POV I write.

Thorn just doesn’t do that for me. Once in a while, yes – I don’t hate writing her. But I don’t find her to be as engaging as say, Cal, or charries from other WIPs.

So she’s getting a makeover!

…I expected this to happen, really, since she’s a relatively new character of mine. So this wasn’t a shocker XD

@whalekeeper nice! I understand, as I tend to find Ara a bit difficult to write sometimes (but im not gonna completely make her over lol, she’s just not my favorite of all the charries 😊)

Yup, I just figured, if I’m writing her POV for the majority of the story, I should love her, you know? XD And honestly, what is up with loving sweet cinnamon sidekicks more than the hero? It’s such a mood.
