Hey guys, I’m Sarah. I’m kinda new to this community so I’m introducing myself :)(Plus I really want to get into a convo with Ezra so I’m hoping he’ll turn up and say hi)
Firstly, I’m a Singaporean!!! (Loud cheers and clapping in the background because Singapore is awesome.) For those of you who don’t know, it’s below Malaysia and it’s very small but super great. And I’m a Chinese Singaporean so if any of you need help with Chinese language and pronunciation in your books or stuff I’m glad to help! I’m actually probably the most informed amongst all you angmoh guys (caucasians in Singlish which is Singaporean English i.e. dialects mixed with proper english).
For all that Singlish, I am a grammar nazi. Everyone calls me that and I’ve found out that I’m a rarity in the world and people hate my ways. I correct everything and I go mad when people use bad English. In addition to that, I write and speak and do everything in BRITISH English because Singapore is a British colony and we should speak British English and not American. You American people can go on speaking whatever you speak but I’ll stick to mine.
So that’s actually a rather long intro (blush) but that’s basically what you need to know about me. Quite a bit of geographical influx with it (I seriously love my country to bits) so if you’d like to know more about Singapore and stuff like that I’d be glad to inform you on it.
Ta ta and zai jian! (That meant good bye in chinese)
Sarah
August 27, 2015 at 12:07 pm #5108So if the government ever hunts me down for publishing a grammatical mess, I should flee to Singapore?

August 27, 2015 at 1:31 pm #5118I must say, this is the first time someone has every expressed a desire to actually have conversation with me, when they haven’t up to that point.

Woah! You have quite the story, Sarah! I love a person with a great background!! π Welcome to Kingdom Pen. I am new, as well. So, I’m not exactly sure why I feel its okay to greet you, but I shall anyway because I don’t like rules and when people tell me that what I’m doing (in this case, being a newbie and welcoming a newbie) is socially unacceptable.
Ezra, there’s gotta be a reason behind the fact that no one wants to talk to you. I blame it on the antlers. Normally they deter people…but maybe that’s just me. (?)
August 27, 2015 at 6:59 pm #5130Hello, hello Sarah! Welcome to the forum!
Yay someone who knows their grammar! You will probably be my future reference person for that yummy little detail so important for writing!
Oooo I love British English, but unfortunately I’m not very familiar with real British English, so when I write I make it up π So I thank you in advance for offering your services in those areas that you specialize! Are you writing anything as of right now?

Well no, a lot of people do seem to like talking to me. It’s just rare that someone I’ve never seen before randomly says, “And this is a person I need to talk to.”
It gives a kind of insidious feel…
August 28, 2015 at 4:45 am #5144I’ll have to reply in detail later guys π right now I’m on the phone so wait a bit till I get to the computer! But firstly. @Daeus don’t come to Singapore because after doing a bad grammar thing I’ll kill you there.

Ezra, because just everyone on Kingdom Pen has ulterior motives. π
August 28, 2015 at 8:08 am #5146I know they do Knat. Which is why I fear.

Fear is natural. Embrace it. There’s a reason why everyone wants to talk with you…they are looking for the next victim in their novel. “GET THE MAN WITH THE ANTLERS!” You. Should. Fear. Mwahahahaha.
August 28, 2015 at 10:52 am #5154I will admit, having an antlered dude be killed off in numerous novels would make them rather interesting.
August 28, 2015 at 11:01 am #5155Hey Rolena it should actually be specialise instead of specialise in British speak because British people use s’s instead of z’s. I’m currently almost finished with my first draft of an attempted novel yay it’s actually going quite well. And shout out to Natalee who said hi π
And Ezra, I want to talk to you firstly because you were so hilarious on the radio and I love people like that, and secondly because I saw all your randomish replies on the forum and decided straight away: Hey! I like this guy. I usually make rather quick judgements (and yes judgement with an e because British)
I have no idea what time it is over there in the US or Canada but I’m going to sleep soon. Expect rather late replies from me, if any.
August 28, 2015 at 11:08 am #5160Welcome, Sarah!
Great to have you on here! π
And, I share your stance on Ezra.
Echo your explanation as to why as well.August 28, 2015 at 11:11 am #5162Anonymous- Rank: Charismatic Rebel

people will start to think that all writers have a secret underground community where they go to talk about ways to kill characters and stab reader’s hearts. it’d be a great day if such a thing happened.
hello, Sarah, once again. π thanks for the shoutout. that’d be the first one i ever got. i am a loner. what is that, oh, hello baby teardrop.
August 28, 2015 at 11:59 am #5181Wow Sarah, you’re British? Neat! Does that mean you spell color like colour? And honor like honour? And valor like valour? And judgment like judgement? Oh wait… π
I actually get into trouble a lot with that one, because I read a lot of old British books, and for the longest time that’s how I thought those words were really spelled. Gulp. And does that mean you always spell Katherine with a C? Or is that just my imagination?
Yes, hilarious people like Ezra are always good if you want a laugh. π -
