What kind of doors does your house have? I’ve a friend who has a number of cats, some of which are very clever. Her doors are mainly lever doors (with the long handles instead of knobs) and the cats know how to open them. Perhaps a door wasn’t locked and the cat was able to open on of the lever doors and then push open the screen door (or maybe there’s a cat flap in the screen door it could go out of.

INTJ - Inhumane. No-feelings. Terrible. Judgment and doom on everyone.

With much thinking of myself as a cat 🙂 I have decided that the attic is the best option. So this is how it works.
Matt takes a load of empty boxes to the attic and leaves the door open. Missy, curious cat, enters and when Matt returns he doesn’t see her due to the boxes. He dumps the next load and shuts the door. Missy is trapped. But a small window was open and she escapes through there. The next morning the family finds her gone.
If you see any problems with this, please let me know. Thanks so much for your help. And all the ideas that I didn’t use are suggested as possible escapes route when they are trying to figure out how she left the house. (Including the chimney) 🙂

Sounds just peachy to me, @bluejay! Go for it! You know, you’re really doing much better about coming up with creative story ideas. Keep it up! You’re growing. 😀

Awwwwww…..thanks @kate-flournoy you just made my day. *wipes happy tears with a tissue*
Do you think she needs a tree near the house to get down? I know cats can drop and land on their feet, but would it be better for her to climb down? Would that be nicer for a child to hear/read?

Noooo… not necessarily. I think she could just climb down the gutter.

@bluejay… like this story idea! 🙂 Sorry, I got here a little late, but it sounds good to me! I agree with Kate, the gutter would probably work. But you could still add a tree, or a small shed, or something if you wanted to. Those would still work…

@faithdk thanks for dropping in. 🙂 I think I’ll end up putting a tree in, just because it is a story for children. I might make it a bit easier for a child to visualize.

@bluejay, yeah it probably would be. Ooh, I can just picture a super hero cat or something, sliding down the gutter (with a cape!), off to save the universe one good deed at a time! …Sorry, that just sorta popped into my head, talking about cats and gutters and whatnot. 😛

@faithdk That’s funny. *writes that into word document of future stories to write* Seriously I can already picture it too. 😛

@bluejay Sounds like you already have it figured out. But just to throw my two cents in, I once knew a cat who could open doors. Literally. Not even kidding.
