Hello!
For a summer project, I am looking for a book that someone would like me to beta read/edit for free. I understand there is a difference between those, but what I do is sort of a combination. I am considering becoming an editor, so I would like to try my hand at it. Any one that is interested, reply below with a short blurb about your story and I’ll get back to you!May 25, 2017 at 5:08 pm #33753Anonymous- Rank: Loyal Sidekick

Anyone? What about the one “Prince of the Barbarians,” who was doing that? Do you still need beta-readers? You must have done a good job with the title because I still remember it!

@graciegirlMay 25, 2017 at 5:19 pm #33754@Jadamae, the only one of mine ready for that kind of thing is halfway through being beta-read right now, so you’d have a lot to catch up on, and I don’t think I’ll have anything ready before winter. Sorry.
I had a Copyediting class last fall, and though I’d been one of those “grammar Nazis” for a while, the introductory class did teach me some basic things I’d have done well to know beforehand. If nothing else, taking a class like that will help you with knowing the proper editing jargon, and give you a bit of credibility for when potential customers come across you.
You will draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation. (Isaiah 12:3)

Prince of the Barbarians is still open for beta readers. I’d love to have you work on it this summer! If you give me your email, I’ll send it to you.YA Fantasy Writer

@Northerner Thanks for the advice! I realized I would need some training before actually becoming an editor. I am considering taking college courses with that in mind in the fall, so that is part the of the reason I am doing this. I want to make sure this is something I want to pursue. 🙂
@his-instrument Wonderful! I really enjoyed the little bit you put on the forum, so I am excited about beta-reading it. The email you can send it to is jadamae(at)zoho(dot)com.May 26, 2017 at 12:10 am #33783@jadamae If you’re looking for comprehensive training in the various aspects and levels of editing, check out The Pen Institute. It’s a branch of The Christian PEN: Proofreaders and Editors Network (which I’m a member of 🙂). I took some of the courses when I was starting out, and the information was helpful.
