*chuckles* Peggy is a character from a musical called Hamilton. Have you heard of it?

aldarley.wordpress.comJanuary 5, 2018 at 1:49 pm #59038@epicaddie2 I think I had heard of it before, but I just skimmed through the synopsis on Wikipedia and decided I don’t like it. 🙂
I am a stickler for historical accuracy, and so any blatant portrayal of historical figures by someone who purposefully does not look like them will not interest me. As an example, my family went to see the musical Here’s Love based on Miracle on 34th Street a couple of days ago, and after the performance the first thing my brother asked me was “Are the costumes historically accurate?” 🙂 Sometimes I wish my mind wasn’t like that because it often does inhibit my enjoyment of movies and shows!

January 5, 2018 at 1:54 pm #59040@epicaddie2 Are there any other musicals you like? I prefer the older ones, like Oklahoma!, Show Boat, and Roberta.
Have you heard of Sight and Sound Theaters? They do musicals based on Biblical stories such as Jonah, Joseph, and Ruth. They are AMAZING!

January 5, 2018 at 2:09 pm #59043@rochellaine Understandable, although Lin-Manuel Miranda did a very good job at making sure things are historically accurate. There are only a few small things that he changed for the purpose of making the musical a bit better. 😉
I’m a bit new to the musical world, Hamilton being the first musical (besides Disney movies) that I’ve listened to/seen, but I also really love Newsies. It’s actually coming to a theater near where I live this year so I intend to go see it, since I’ve only seen the recording on Netflix.

aldarley.wordpress.comJanuary 5, 2018 at 2:12 pm #59044Oh, and I haven’t heard of Sight and Sound Theaters. Sounds cool though! I’ll look into it. 😉

January 5, 2018 at 2:24 pm #59046@itisastarrynight Haha! I’m so glad, but – what is, specifically? 🙂

January 5, 2018 at 2:33 pm #59048@epicaddie2 You should definitely look up Sight and Sound. They have only two theaters, one in Branson, Missouri, and the other in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but they have all of their musicals on DVD and the soundtracks on CD. If you want a quick look into what they do, they have several trailers and behind-the-scenes videos on YouTube.

January 5, 2018 at 3:04 pm #59052Wow, that’s awesome! Hearing that many voices all at once, all singing to God always gives me chills!
and I was so confused
January 5, 2018 at 3:14 pm #59054@rochellaine Ha, you should head down to where I live, then. Plenty of heat here.

I have a friend who absolutely detests Barney, but then I have another friend who absolutely loves him. 😅 You might like the later seasons better because Barney ends up leaving the show. I’ve seen Gomer Pyle USMC too. (I’ve watched scads of old TV shows. You name it, I’ve probably seen it.) Have you seen the other spinoff of Andy Griffith—Mayberry RFD?
January 5, 2018 at 5:01 pm #59074@rochellaine I’ve read the Lay of Aotrou and Itroun and the Lay of Sigrid and Gudrun (probably didn’t spell that right) but you might not like them as much if you haven’t read any of his novels, since these poems are a lot of his early inspiration. Still, if you like old mythology poetry you might like them.
Oh cool, I’m not very familiar with the US (I’m Aussie) but I kind of know where they are.
Just a bit older than me, I’m seventeen 😊
