Ok, so I need to have a couple of maps, family trees, and house layouts in my book that I’m planning to publish soon. Has anyone done that before and know what the best way is to put them in the manuscript? I want it to look professional, and they’re all pretty simple, but I don’t really want to draw it out bc it would’t be perfectly uniform. Ideas, anyone? 🙂

@selah-chelyah Hmm, I’m pretty unfamiliar with drawing maps and such and putting them in books, so I don’t really know. My initial thought had been to hire/ask someone to draw it out. Idk, drawn things seem to add an interesting element to book.

        Sorry I can’t help more! I don’t know much about this. 🙂

@selah-chelyah Well, I’ve certainly done maps, family trees (aka genealogies), and a few house layouts before. But my maps are of a different type entirely, I think. As for family trees, I might be able to help you there. But only really in a small way. I did one on a basic writing document, adding lines from the SHAPES icon with added text boxes for the names. For examples, look at Tolkien’s in some of his books. It took me quite a while, but it looked pretty good in the end.

I’d agree with Jenna on the house layouts, though. You could get an architect to do something, though where you’ll find one, I don’t know. There’re some architect apps that you could get; my Dad uses them quite frequently, and his house plans look great. You might have to get creative adding names and such, though.

            Hope this helps!

Huh, yeah, ok. I’ll see what I can do between making my own family trees that way, and seeing about the other stuff. Thx! 🙂
