May 15, 2025 at 7:11 am #202928Â Cassius….?
Somehow… even though he never had a chance to put one on…. Cassius was now wearing a tragedy mask. “Why ME…?!?” A depressed voice called out. “The world is against me! I am hated by all.” Cassius flopped onto his back. He lay there. Not moving. “My life is worthless! And-…” Suddenly, Cassius sat up. “Where am I?…” He looked up at Barnes. “Who… are you…?” He asked quietly.
“Am I being kidnapped… I’m sorry that I’m making this difficult… I am a pain to be around.” He fell back onto the floor in despair.

May 15, 2025 at 8:20 am #202930(quick side note… I’m not sure if I’ve done it yet! But Leander right now only knows Gabriel as the protector, right? So if I have ever used Gabriel while Leander is talking, it’s a mistake! But I am just gonna dress Gabriel as Gabriel while talking about him, because I’m too lazy to write out “the protecter” over and over again XD)
You haven’t mixed them up yet. Yeah, I’m probably going to call him Gabriel when not in dialogue as well, because Th Protector gets kinda boring and sounds repetitive much more than his real name
The Protector—Gabriel
Suddenly Gabriel halted, body stiffening as he looked into the darkness ahead. Once Leander caught up, he spoke in his measured tone again. “There are too many new smells here, I’m having trouble differentiating between the mold, the moss, the fog, and the scents of the other people, but I thought I smelled something new while running. Can your nose differentiate the smell? so far, I don’t see anything moving.” Gabriel cocked his head to the side, scanning the maze in front of them with his left eye.

#AnduthForever (đź’•)May 15, 2025 at 8:21 am #202931I plan on designing monsters at some point today, because I feel like it. I’ll post them here when I get some stuff.

Barnes blinked a couple times before chuckling. “Okay. We’re… not going to question the pity party.”
Something moved in the shadows. A gentle movement, without the sound of birds or leaves.
Barnes paused where she was, alert. She gazed through the cascading vines, their tangles filled to the brim with darker shades. The side of her mask caught the honey light from the sunset one last time before the hedges blocked it out. The whole labyrinth felt a bit like a candle which had been snuffed out, and the mist rose like leftover smoke in the gloom.
“I think you should lose your tongue,” Barnes said.
On the ground beneath her, Cassius babbled again through his surprise mask. Without paying attention, Barnes scooped him up and turned a corner of the maze, before yanking him into a leafy overhang.
“I said lose your tongue, not loose it,” she murmured, covering his mouth.
Somewhere outside the leaves, something moved past. Barnes could identify the weight of a human by the footfalls, but something about these footfalls sounded more calculated – and there were more of them. Maybe a four-footed beast.
The Lovedream woman fell into a stance, legs apart. Her breath slowed as they waited for the creature to pass.

Prince Leander
Leander stopped, almost smacking into Gabriel. “Huh? What’s up? Smell? Uh… to be honest, I can’t really. I am like a cat, not a dog!” Leander scanned the area. “But I can see fairly clearly. Like those stones over there. And then tree growing into the maze…” Leander kept a watchful eye. “I can hear things too… and I think I hear chatting… but it’s probably someone else…” Leander stopped, he closed his eyes and took a minute to listen. “Wait… do you hear that…?” There was a low pitched sound. Kind of like a hum.

Cassius… (maybe?)“Me… quiet? I’ll shut up when you tell me where I am… And who you are…” He said, slumping down, and letting his arms hang. “I don’t know how I go there, or who you are… so I want answer.” He looked at Barnes, who was ignoring him.
“Ugh… I can’t believe you want me to cut my tongue off… maybe you’re right though… maybe if I cut it off then I won’t have talk to others ever again…” Cassius stopped and thought. “Actually… That would be a greater woe… to cut off my tongue… my tongue is my only pride in life… my tongue is my only joy… and even then it only brings me hopelessness.” He looked at Barnes again.
“But in reality… away from my fantasies… I am nothing but a let down. I only cause misfortune. So, if you don’t want me around… I’ll leave.” Cassius started walking back towards where they came from. He felt Barnes hand yank him back.

May 15, 2025 at 10:38 am #202934@the_lost-journal @whalekeeper Since you tagged me in your last rp, I’m assuming it’s okay if Gabriel swoops in
The Protector-Gabriel
“Yes, I can, but where…” Without warning, Gabriel dashed around a turn in the maze, which met up with another one of the paths to the entrance of the labyrinth. Seeing something moving on all fours, disappearing just behind another corner of the maze, Gabriel didn’t wait for Leander to catch up. He ran, almost slipping on a patch of moss, turning the corner with surprising speed. Blades of cherry red energy appeared over his hands, as he sliced the creature’s neck and stomach with two, well-placed strikes.
Afterwards, Gabriel sighed, the blades of energy dissipating. He smelled the air, and then turned to the side, peering into a leafy mass. “Cassius, and…the lady with the mask. I think that’s who you are.” Seemingly content at having found that out, he bent over the creature’s body. The creature had grayish-blue scales across its entire body, that blended with the fog, but it didn’t look like a reptile, it more resembled a strange, large cat, with two tails and one side of it’s face gruesomely deformed. “I hope I didn’t just kill one of Leander’s relatives,” Gabriel muttered under his breath.

#AnduthForever (đź’•)May 15, 2025 at 10:51 am #202936Â Trisan…?
Cassius looked at down at the dead animal. Then up at Gabriel. “Why couldn’t that have been me…?” he asked with a frown. “Also… do I know you…? He starred at Gabriel. “I’m not Cassius…? I’m Trisan… You must be confused, Cassius is a loser… I am nothing at all…”
Prince Leander
Leander ran around the corner. Surprised by what he saw. “Wow… Is that my relative?” Leander joked. “Oh great…. Hello Trisan…” Leander looked at Trisan. “Hello…” Trisan responded.

Barnes stepped out and pulled Cassius out as well, not unkindly. “Cassius, you shouldn’t cut your tongue out. I was in fact suggesting that you try and keep your head.”
The boy seemed to be confused by this, but did not reply right away. He was too busy staring at the dead creature and at the newcomers.
The beast had the dull, smooth scales of a lizard, very much like the common ones Barnes had to deal with in her first private apartment. These were gray as well, but were sealed together in a more seamless pattern that blended in with the overcast sky. The feline creature’s paws had not left a mark on the ground. Its tails coiled uselessly over its flank and its mouth was locked open from the tussle.
“Thanks.” Barnes dipped her head to the stranger. She crouched over the beast to get a better look at it.

May 15, 2025 at 11:56 am #202938The Protector-Gabriel
“You’re welcome.” Gabriel debated asking the woman his questions now, but decided to wait until after he also had inspected the monster a little more.
It reminded him of the feline monsters he often fought back home, except it was smaller, the scales weren’t that distinctive shiny black like an oil slick, and it only had two tails, not three.
I wonder if this place has other variations of monsters from my home. Though this clearly isn’t the same type of monster as I’m used to. Gabriel dipped a finger in the creature’s black blood. “It’s blood is different, it’s body isn’t immediately starting to decompose. Strange,” He mumbled under his breath, before turning to the lady with the mask. “What do you make of it?”

Barnes stuck her hand into the beast’s mouth, and the other stranger gasped. It was still warm and soft in a moist sort of way. Feeling around for some time, she eventually pulled her arm out and wiped it on the grass.
It probably was not venomous because the teeth felt more feline than reptilian. Death notwithstanding, its eyes were clear and bright. “Do you have a knife I may borrow?”

Gabriel manifested a blade of energy over the back of his hand. “This is the closest thing I have. What do you want cut?”

“Just into the side, not too deep.”
He did what she asked. Barnes reached in again, then stood up and pulled out a handkerchief to better clean off her hands. She let out a sigh, which sounded more like whistle through the mask. “I’m wondering how long this labyrinth is. Do you have a taste for deep-fried cat?”

May 15, 2025 at 1:14 pm #202945Now I’m stuck thinking about the differences between the book labyrinth from Goblet of Fire and the movie labyrinth.
