“Not if I kick you first!” Melissa yelled back. She stepped assertively in front of her new friend, which was made less intimidating by the fact that she was almost a head shorter than Lucy. She glanced at the food. She was hungry, but there was no way she was going to let this strange girl tell her what to do.
The horned girl stood up, her face red. Mel stuck out her tongue.
“I said sit down!”
“No!”
Mel ran and the girl gave chase. The two ran around the mushroom circle a couple times like a game of duck duck goose, before one child stuck his long leg out in front of Mel’s path. She landed face first in the grass, and let out a muffled scream. Children’s laughter filled the air around her.

“Hey!” Lucy stood over Mel to help her up, shielding her from the other kids defensively.
At the sound of laughing and mockery, she squared her jaw. She turned on the long-legged child, who laughed the loudest, and grabbed his shirt. Before he could do anything, she threw him onto the ground.
“I’ll throw you into the thorns!” she threatened through her teeth, shaking him by the collar.
“No! No.” The child cowered, muttering darkly under his breath. “Vagrants, rather ugly… Shan’t let them speak any recitations… Pass the teacakes…”
Lucy didn’t let go. After a few seconds, the child writhed in her grip, curling over, and grew soft brown fur. He slipped out of the shirt, having turned into a fawn, and bounded away.

Soldier came back and said he’d found a giant lake. Gabriel nodded but said nothing, his skin taking on odd shades. Worrying himself sick? Or just a thing his species did similar to my own abilities?
“Can you take us over? I asked. He nodded.
We traveled for a while before reaching it. It stretched before us, deep but not so deep that we couldn’t see the bottom.
“I saw a little boat,” Soldier said, “but it’s way out there!”
“Let me handle it.” Sniper told him. “We’ve been relyin’ on yer expertise in the air….now I’ll lead us in the water.”
He stepped into the lake, subdued waves lapping at his talons, before leaping in and shooting off, a green and red blur constrasting the bluish water.
Gabriel was slightly shocked.
I turned to him and grinned. “Argonites are sea-dwelling creatures! He’ll get us a boat in no time.”
I kinda want to write an rp about what he sees down there but it’ll have to be tomorrow.
