“Who are you? Were you also taken from your world to here?” the man snarled, his blades at the ready.
His eyes met mine. I pushed down the urge to fight him; it wouldn’t do Sniper and Huntress any good if I died, right? They would want me with them. “That’s right! Me, and my teammates! Two of them to be exact! Except one’s been hurt, so she’s back at that huge tower thingy.”
I looked behind me. Sniper hadn’t appeared yet. I thought he was coming with me, but I guess he wasn’t.
Hmm.

also the minute Huntress wakes up Soldier will probably be like “You forgot to tell me about the emu incident!”

It was a speaking entity, not a monster after all. Rivulets of water poured off his wings, and he seemed less affected by the cold. He wore clothes like a man, and looked like a man, besides the wings – but the suddenness of seeing another talking person was almost more frightening than a monster.
Lucy spoke hesitantly, still standing behind Gabriel. “That tower’s real far away. You mean you’ve been through the crawlspace.”
When Gabriel gave her a look, Lucy blinked. “That’s… That’s the in-between place with the rooms and stairs and doors. It’s not the labyrinth, but it’s a part of it. I’m callin’ it the crawlspace.”

Gabriel nodded. Scattered raindrops that had slipped through the leaves rolled down the dusty white surface of his mask, pooling at the bottom edge before dropping into the damp fabric of his shirt. Gabriel shivered slightly, the rain chilling his skin.
His blades clicked into their sheaths, but his hands remained resting on the leather-wrapped hilts.
“You said one of your friends was injured. I have bandages, and some medicine I found in that house. We’ll go with you back to the…crawlspace. But don’t go near the girl.” Gabriel growled, voice dropping lower into that false deep one again.

his roommate was a flipping WIZARD who HATED HIM and he’s still alive.
He drank lead and is still alive. He fires rockets at his feet to fling himself into the air to get a flying boost, and is still alive.
