Lucille
Lucy dropped the hatchet on the floor and walked several paces, realizing that it wouldn’t be too good to fall on it. A kid in the east fields had fallen on his father’s ax two years ago and there had been many cautionary stories before that.
She slid to the floor herself. Against her will, her words slurred together. “I don’t want to… hm. How much more?”

December 6, 2025 at 11:40 pm #208970Felicity
Something hissed behind Felicity, tickling the back of her neck with its cold breath.
“What iss this I’m hearing?”
Felicity spun to see a large, frilled reptilian head peering out at her from the bushes. Well, it was facing her, but its large eyes were closed tight. A large, clawed front leg emerged from the bushes, and took a step forward. It opened its mouth, and Felicity stared, frozen in fear, at its long jagged teeth and forked black tongue. It spoke again with a feminine voice.
“Trapss and sschemes? No, no, we can’t have that. That’ss not the game you were assigned.”
Felicity snapped herself free from her frozen state, and reached into her bag for her gun. The creature emerged fully from the bushes now. It was like a dragon, with a long, blue scaley body, and spines along its back. Its back legs were more bird-like, and brown feathers stuck out at odd angles along its back. Two big, leather wings rested near its shoulders, and a pair of small, feathered wings stuck out uselessly behind them. Its eyes remained shut as it cocked its head to the side curiously.
“Oh, look at you, poor thing. So full of frusstration and confusion. Sso ready to burst. I think I know what you need… How about some rest.”
Felicity grabbed her weapon and aimed it at the creature’s face right as it opened its eyes. She felt herself go rigid under its gaze, and was unable to look away from its big yellow eyes as her feet, limbs, torso, and then head, all turned to stone.
The Basilisk
The girl’s wide eyes dulled from silver to gray, and a final puff of air escaped her stone lips.
The basilisk smiled, as much as a lizard can, and then snapped her eyes shut.
That had been fun, but now she wanted fresh meat. She turned to the others, her tongue flicking out to test the air. She couldn’t see, but she could feel their heat, hear their movement, and sense their fear. She lunged forward, teeth snapping, and claws outstretched.
Sorry that was longer than I intended. Just imagine it all happening within a few quick seconds.
Maybe the Basilisk can chase them to where the others are?⭐️World's Slowest Writer⭐️

Lucy rubbed her knuckles into her eyes and then against the wall, unable to push the haze out of her head. This wasn’t the time to be tired. They had to get out, they had to keep walking.
She tried to voice her frustrations, but her words turned into a high-pitched groan. She took a step and stumbled into Gabriel’s arms where he knelt.

December 7, 2025 at 12:01 am #208977That reminds me, deaths never happen in these roleplays but they shouldn’t be so taboo. As long as it works, it’s just an AU.

December 7, 2025 at 12:05 am #208978Nice rhyming.
Yeah, there is a chance I don’t get back to her, which, in that case, I suppose would mean she is dead.

I suppose she’s literally in limbo until you choose to pull her out or the end of the world arrives.

Gabriel caught her, holding her carefully. He couldn’t smell any fresh blood, nor see any. He felt her arms gently, searching for any heat radiating through the bandages, any sign of infection. Finding none, he shifted her so her head rested on his shoulder, picking up her hatchet and few other fallen knickknacks (secretly wondering what the point of them was), before standing and carrying her. He peeked into each room as they passed, looking for a bedroom.
Eventually, he found what he was looking for, a small cozy bedroom with warm wallpapered walls and soft cotton sheets. He pulled the sheets down with one hand, setting her down, and pulling the sheets up again.
“Go to sleep little one, we don’t have to hurry to get out of here yet.”

Lucille
The warm mattress and sheets felt familiar and alien at once, after so much walking and uncertainty. Lucy rolled over a few times and held her face into her arms. The soft warmth held her above and pushed her adrift, so everything left her be.
