          @loopylin ok here we go:

          Huntress

“Who… who exactly are you people? You just killed a troll and a dragon. What is going on? Have you even given me your real names?” Felicity only now started to think about who she was traveling with.

Sniper chuckled. “Ya thought Huntress, Sniper and Soldier were our actual names?”

“Snipes, stop that.” I chided him.

I sighed. “We were fighters. Mercenaries really. It took us five years and some of us nearly getting killed, but we eventually realized what we were fighting for was actually completely useless. With some help from our commander, we were able to find lives and jobs elsewhere. But, y’know, old habits die hard, so we still use the callsigns from back then.”

“If ya really want our real names…” Sniper pointed to me. “Her name’s Jaylen. I’m Mick, and Soldier’s called Jan, I think. But we mostly use those old callsigns when talkin’ to each other these days. Like she said, it’s a force of habit.”

Just realized I should explain what I’m doing in the roleplay. I mentioned it to Loops and forgot to say it here! The labyrinth is in the process of transforming Barnes in a specific way. If Gabriel passes by where she was swallowed by the labyrinth, I’m sure it will spit her back out and they can reunite.

Please excuse slight changes in Gabriel’s character, I’ve developed him a little. I also apologize for typos ahead of time, I might be coming down with something.

And this will probably be short, and I’m late to reply, sorry.

Sebastian had taken her warmer jacket from her office the last time he visited. The little devil.

                The Protector—Gabriel Mai

After the maze had separated Barnes from the group, and after the mysterious disappearance of Prince Leander, Gabriel couldn’t shed a feeling of unease. Unbridled by anyone, he wandered the maze alone, noting the lack of creature’s noises around him in the fog. It was too quiet, as if the creatures of the maze knew some predator he couldn’t see was stalking Gabriel. Maybe the predator was the maze itself, he couldn’t know. The sound of his boots was padded by moss, the only thing breaking through the fog were a few haunting wisps of someone’s voice, but Gabriel could never tell where it came from, and it sounded far off and underwater.

Gabriel’s boot scraped stone, and he immediately halted, looking down. The moss that had padded his footsteps was scraped away from wall to wall, leaving only a few measly strips of muddy dull green. He looked at the walls of the maze, finding some scrapes on both sides.

“Did the maze shift again here?” He wondered aloud, walking towards the wall in front of him, boots still scraping the stone. The unease in his stomach felt like a bitter stone.

                That’s all I got. Sorry.

No problem at all, all of those things are fine. Also my characters change all the time, seems to be a product of roleplaying and testing things out.

Also good to have you back!

Okay, let’s see. We’re gonna do that fun thing where the character switches their name

                    Lucille

The girl stood tangled within the wall. Small and sleepy, one side of her ached to curl up in the leaves and let them whisper tendrils of mist into her body for as long as she lived. She could be another lifeless part of the labyrinth.

But the vines loosened. The girl stirred. She squeezed her eyes shut, tighter than before, but had nothing to support her sleep. It was quite annoying to feel restless, feel like something was calling her.

                    Where… no. Who am I?

Her thoughts called her incessantly. She shook her head, annoyed.

Footsteps approached nearby. They were so close, the sound rattled the magic, and it sifted backwards through the leaves, retreating from where its prey stood captive.

The vines pulled away from the girl’s wrists. She stumbled off the wall, taking a few sightless steps, and fell onto the mossy ground.

Her eyelids fluttered, catching a glimpse of the person near her, before she slumped over.

                      The Protector — Gabriel Mai

Gabriel was too shocked to catch Barnes, eyes staring at the wall where she had mysteriously fell from. After he shook himself, he noticed her face, not recognizing her without her mask, but then the strange clothes, so different from his own poor clothing, pulled his mind to recognition. He knelt, occasionally warily glancing at the wall, gently shaking her shoulder.

“Barnes. Barnes? Lady Barnes?” When she didn’t respond immediately, Gabriel scooped her up gently into his arms, running away from the strange wall. Maybe the entire labyrinth was the same as that wall, and his fleeing was in vain, but he didn’t care. He wanted to put as much distance as he could between the two of them and that wall.

                          “Okay…”

The explanation Sniper and Huntress gave eased her nerves a bit, but it wasn’t really them she had been worried about. She sighed and sat down on a nearby boulder. The maze walls and the dead troll seemed to tower above her.

“It feels like we’ve been wandering around aimlessly, just looking for the next thing to beat up. I’m sick of playing that imp’s games. We need… we need some kind plan to get out of here.”

Man, I am really not communicating today. I forgot to say Barnes is magically transformed by the labyrinth. She is now a child. Her age is magically reversed, so she’s maybe nine or ten?

We can say Gabriel can see through the magic for an instant and realize it’s Barnes; not to mention she’s wearing the same jacket.

Thank you for saving my girl from a lawn ornament’s fate

                              Lucille

                              Lucy. That was her name.

Scents struck her, those of cold evening air and plants seeping through earth. They reminded her of the tunnel under the train station. There wasn’t a hint of sharp oil or metal, so she couldn’t be right outside her home.

When she opened her eyes, everything twisted into a mass of blurred light and dark.

Her fingers felt dull and frozen. Her arms curled over her chest, and alarm bells rang in Lucy’s mind when she tried to pull them apart and burst into shivers. It felt much better to lay still and pretend she was dead – a little dead girl to be prattled over and put in a box. It was an interesting thought, and she would have lingered on it, but something else caught her attention.

She was in someone’s arms. She bit her frozen lip and looked up at the man holding her.

The man’s face was blurred, doubled, indecipherable. He felt like Da, and smelled like him too – although she eventually realized that was because she was wrapped in a jacket and the jacket smelled like her parents.

Had she fallen and hit her head? There had been an article in the scientific magazine about a man who developed a twelve-hour memory after he hit his head. She couldn’t remember why they were outside.

The world began to take shape. Lucy shivered in the man’s arms. “Where are we? Da?”

                                  oh…I probably missed that

We can say Gabriel can see through the magic for an instant and realize it’s Barnes; not to mention she’s wearing the same jacket.

The rune over Gabriel’s eye on his mask does have strange sight properties, so that works!

                                  The Protector — Gabriel Mai

Gabriel stopped at the voice. That wasn’t Barne’s voice. He looked down, realizing why she had felt so light in his arms was because she was a child. He pressed her closer to himself instinctively as he felt her shiver, wishing that he had something to drape over her, but all he had was his cotton shirt.

“Not Da, I’m called the Protector. Who are you? Where is Barnes? I thought you were her, but this maze must be playing tricks with my mind…though you’re wearing her clothes still.”

Secretly, Gabriel was still panicking inside, but his voice remained steady. His wariness about the maze was pushed back as new things flooding his mind, mostly involving what to do with the child in his arms, especially how to get her warmer. His mask was slipping a little, but he didn’t dare let her go to fix it.
