Just curious, is Cassius supposed to have DID like some people do irl? Or is it his own unique condition that you made up for your fantasy story?
(sorry if that doesn’t make sense. I was having trouble phrasing it well.)

May 19, 2025 at 4:01 pm #203141I figured that was the case – I just phrased it as acting because he said he was an actor – but it was worth a shot.
Good! Just thought I’d clarify :]
She does in fact love tacos lol
I knew that was a safe bet to make with your characters XD

Felicity
“Huntress. That’s cool.”
Felicity began walking and her new companion followed. The fog got thinner as they got closer to the center of the maze. They soon came to a split path. Felicity, on a whim, turned left.
“So, Huntress,” she said over her shoulder, “Where are you from?”

May 19, 2025 at 4:13 pm #203144Yeah! Kinda! I know it’s not exactly like it! But it’s supposed to be really similar to that! It’s kinda like bipolar mixed with DID!
He is one of my very few characters to have a mental problem! The only characters I have the have a mental problem are:
Cassius (DID mixed with bipolar), Carrot Cake (pyromania mixed with a bit of insanity and add PTSD… yeah she has a lot wrong with her 😅), Jireh (depression), Rapha (paranoia), and Alex (paranoia mixed with bipolar)
Yeah, compared to my almost over one hundred character *that is just a guess lol* they are the only ones *currently* who have a mental illness!

"When in doubt, eat cheese crackers."-me to my charries who don't even know about cheese crackers
May 19, 2025 at 4:25 pm #203147Cool. I should research bpd and ptsd sometime. I don’t know much about them.
I’m now realizing I can’t think of any of my characters who don’t have any mental thingys, lol. Lois and Liko are probably normal? Idk

For real. A lot of the time I don’t realize a character has something until I’ve used them for a year or whatever. Then there’s a period where you question whether or not you have the thing because you subconsciously put it in the character to begin with.

Ok but actually that’s part of how I got diagnosed with autism. I was writing Ellie so much and realizing how much I related to her, and at the same time noticing how many autistic traits she had. So I started getting suspicious and researching it and then I finally asked my doctor and now here I am.🎵Movin’ right along🎶
May 19, 2025 at 4:44 pm #203153Yeah… I gave some of those characters those disorders because it matches their characters!… And I realized how perfect my character were XD

May 19, 2025 at 4:47 pm #203154🤣 I love that. Ellie is relatable, especially with the over-sensitivity.
I’d say identifying with my characters happens with me as well, but lots of the time the traits are negative thought patterns I need to grow out of. The only cases where I can identify with actual mental conditions the characters have are Marcel, Lucille, and Seb respectively, which are also why I write them the most often.

May 19, 2025 at 4:51 pm #203155To be clear, they are not much like me in any other way, and vice versa. Which I am very glad for. I try not to overidentify.

The Protector—Gabriel
“So it wasn’t a flippant reason after all. That’s surprising.” Gabriel’s voice sounds young again. His hand moves towards his own mask, hesitates, then slightly dislodges it. A small sliver of skin showing a small cluster of strange birthmarks on his jaw, could be seen. He shows them to Cassius. “They run down my torso as well. I hate them, I wish they were gone. I’ve despised them all my life. You could call them my plague. They were the reason I lived alone for many years, hiding them from people who called them a witch’s mark.” Gabriel set his mask back in place, making sure it hid his entire face again. “They aren’t the entire reason I wear the mask, I have other ways of covering them up.” Gabriel cleared his throat, suddenly finding great interest in the ground. “No idea why I shared that, guess I didn’t want you to feel alone, though you probably still do…” Gabriel adjusted his mask again, turning away. “None of you heard or saw anything just now.”

#AnduthForever (💕)May 19, 2025 at 7:57 pm #203160I love how Barnes avoids the question, and then both Cassius and Gabriel give full paragraphs about why they wear their masks. It cracks me up so much. 🤣
