@emily-d Yes I’ve seen the movie, and I want to read the book 😀
@dragon-snapper Hmm… ‘Merican slang… I dunno. Do you have slang?Currently reading Les Miserables
July 25, 2017 at 5:46 am #38070@perfectfifths Totally! @dragon-snapper I’m sure that I’ve heard some ‘Merican slang-I just can’t think what it is. *sighs*

@emily-d @perfectfifths Well, the biggest slang I can think of is “ya’ll”, but that’s more of a southern thing. Otherwise, I can’t really think of any either. Really, there are a bunch of different regional accents. Northern, Southern, and Californian.☀ ☀ ☀ ENFP ☀ ☀ ☀
July 25, 2017 at 9:06 pm #38164@dragon-snapper Lol, one of my ‘Merican friends that says “Ya’ll” a lot was trying to get me to say it (and by say it, I mean type in our chat conversation 😉 ) and I refused, until right when she had to go, so I said it to make her happy 😉 😀

July 27, 2017 at 6:23 am #38240@dragon-snapper I thought of one! “What’s cookin’, good lookin’?” Apparently that’s American…

July 27, 2017 at 6:40 am #38241@dragon-snapper I don’t know if this would be considered slang, but Americans say “unpack” a lot in the context of teaching. Like, “We’ll unpack this as we go.” It is really annoying 😛

July 27, 2017 at 8:48 am #38242@emily-d Oh, yeah. I forgot about that one, though I’ve definitely heard it. There’s also quite a few others now that I think about it. I can remember them now, but if you’ve ever seen the Secret Life of Walter Mitty, the Icelandian uses a few American Slang words with Mitty.
@perfectfifths They do? That’s funny, I’ve never heard that one. But I’m homeschooled, so that probably makes a difference. We hardly use outside sources at all. 😛
XD You know, no one tries to use ya’ll either. It’s really a regional thing.☀ ☀ ☀ ENFP ☀ ☀ ☀
July 27, 2017 at 9:08 am #38243@dragon-snapper I think my Mum said that Christians especially use the term “unpack.” We’re also homeschooled, and a lot of the resources we used were American, because that’s all there was, so she’d seen it around a lot.

July 27, 2017 at 9:11 am #38245@perfectfifths That does make sense. So, lets unpack the reason why Christian Americans like to use the word ‘unpack’. 😛

July 27, 2017 at 10:50 am #38249@perfectfifths “Y’all” is more of a southern thing, not everyone in the States uses it. But I do. A lot.

July 28, 2017 at 6:53 am #38294@dragon-snapper @perfectfifths Hey! I’m homeschooled too. Being homeschooled rocks, right? And I’ve heard the term ‘unpack’ too, it must be cool teacher slang or something. It can get a little annoying, but there are worse “cool” words. Like, I don’t love the word “dude.” Like, it’s fine occasionally, but hey, when people say it repeatedly… *cringes* Oh, @dragon-snapper @that_writer_girl_99 do you find that Americans say “peeps” a LOT? Or is that just an Aussie thing?

July 28, 2017 at 7:19 am #38295@emily-d I reckon a lot of people use internet slang in everyday speech. “Lol, that’s totes funny. OMG, I can’t even.” XD I hardly use it even when messaging. But when its said out loud, it sounds really lame.
