Any fans of James Fenimore Cooper out there? He’s the guy who wrote The Last of the Mohicans. I really enjoyed that book!

The book was actually pretty good— great characters; pretty good plot, though personally I found the end a little disappointing. Frontier stories are always fun, though, and the different Indian cultures were fascinating.
November 10, 2016 at 7:00 pm #20889Yes, the end was pretty sad. ๐
The Indian cultures and frontier adventure was probably my most favorite part of the book.A lot of people don’t like Cooper’s long, antiquated writing, but I have read a lot of old literature for school, so I’m kinda used to it.

My favorite character was probably either Heyward or Hawkeye… what about you?November 10, 2016 at 7:16 pm #20893Hawkeye hands down. Heyward was pretty cool too though. More of the average person, and therefore easier for the reader to relate to.

November 10, 2016 at 8:42 pm #20903I haven’t read any of his stuff. Have you read any of his other books, and are they good?
@WarrioroftheRealmNovember 11, 2016 at 11:09 am #20928I have not read his other books besides Last of the Mohicansโbut I really want to as soon as possible. They are on my to read list. ๐ I’m sure us writers can all identify with that list.
His books are actually really clean except for the violence, which was pretty graphic. If you’re ok with that, then I highly recommend his work. His leatherstocking series is probably his most famous series (The Deerslayer, Last of the Mohicans, The Pathfinder, and The Prairie – in that order).

November 11, 2016 at 12:59 pm #20942@warrioroftherealm I read the Pathfinder when I was 10 or 11. The story was great, but I hated the ending. I cried. I liked the pathfinder, and I was so mad at- was her name Megan?- for marrying Jacques instead. Now that I’m eighteen, I would probably be much more understanding, come to think of it. ๐
