Hi! I found this site like….2 days ago and just got my approval email so I am now a new (I believe it’s called Keeper???) Anyway…here I am! Not totally sure what to say other then a little bit about myself.
I enjoy making up stories and have worked on a few novels over the years (most never finished, or if they were weren’t as good as I liked.) I recently kinda gave up (or pushed aside) a project I’d worked on because it wasn’t working, so I’ve now got most of an outline for a smaller novel I want to finish (So I can actually finish something lol) and I’m working on the outlining and such for a large fantasy series I want to write. My dream is to write an epic fantasy series (don’t know if I’d actually label it a high fantasy though that’d be great!)
And yesh, I’m using a lot of parentheses XD
I also have OCD and some…uh…anxiety so if I end up correcting myself, etc that’s probably why XD
So yea.

And I’d be willing to share, only thing is…this site is safe right? To talk about your ideas. Hope no one takes this wrong, but I’ve been told before to be careful so my books don’t get stolen because they aren’t copyrighted, and so I just try to be careful.
But I’ve seen others speak of their stories, so I’m sure it’s fine lol. Again hope no one takes that wrong!
I’d love to share about my ideas sometime though. I kinda joined this because I wanted some writing friends and a writing community to talk to.

#ProtectSeb@godlyfantasy12 Of course! We talk about our ideas all the time, and I don’t think anyone’s stolen anything yet. At least, I hope not. Most of us would be too busy with our own stuff to steal other ideas, anyway. Also, I think that you own the copyright to your books. At least, you should.
This place is really great as far as writing communities go. I’m part of several, and this one definitely is at the top. Everyone is really nice and they also have very helpful advice and insights. They are also super fun people.

If hours don't turn into daysWell I have one sorta published (not really selling it unless someone just really wants a copy) I wrote when I was like 14, and I believe it’s copyrighted, but I was mainly meaning like my ideas and such. But yea, it seems this place is really great and open.
im a little new to this. I’ve been on forums before (not really chatting myself tho) and like online places but we’ve had some bad experiences (nothing super terrible but quite a few sites haven’t worked out) so I’m glad to have found this place!

I can totally relate. The first novel was definitely the hardest. But once I finally finished it, writing became so much easier. (There’s something about the first novel that is particularly difficult).
If you don’t mind answering, what’s the premise of your big fantasy project?
And do you have any favorite books?
Oh, and yeah, the folk of Kindom Pen is called KeePers. But there are some people who are loyal to the “KaPeefers” title and refuse to call it any other way. XD It’s up to you to choose whichever one.
So I hope you enjoy it here! The active community here isn’t very large, which is nice since you can really get to know people well. 🙂 Oh, and the chocolate chip cookies are divine.
@godlyfantasy12 Oh, I see. Unfortunately ideas aren’t copy-righted (as long as they’re super vague, like “a nobody boy gets chosen to save whole place from evil person”) but the specifics are yours.

If hours don't turn into daysYea it’s still pretty difficult for me because I struggle with doubt and am a bit of a perfectionist. I had a huge fantasy series (fairytale retelling) in the planning. Been thinking about those ideas for quite a while, and had started a series inside of that series (a Peter Pan retelling) but when I got to the 2nd draft I realized it wasn’t working anymore and it wasn’t fun.
so I decided to take a break and try outlining (cuz I was doing a bit more pantsing at the time) and it seems to be going pretty well. I’ve started the first draft of a stand-alone book (have to stop procrastinating and write more in it.) and am outlining a huge 7 book Fantasy series.
The premise of the series (hopefully I’m understanding premise right XD) is about a girl whose destiny is to travel the fantasy world and stop an evil she doesn’t even know. She can only choose one person to go with her and she has no idea where she’ll be going or how long she’ll be gone.
again, hopefully I understood what u asked by premise 😂

@godlyfantasy12 First things first, buenos dias! My name is Grace A. Johnson, but I’ve been known to go by Gruh, the Wicked Witch of the West, That Annoying Girl Over There, and Gracie–take your pick! I’m relatively new to KP myself (two months, so maybe not?), so I’ll go ahead and assure you that this is the greatest, most awesome place you could ever visit! We have a café, an indoor swimming pool (they finally fixed the heater), and a newly installed rock-climbing wall! @lewilliams is a consummate tea-brewer, if you’re a tea person (I am), and @leon-fleming has a sister who bakes some delicious cookies! If you’d like a tour, I’m sure @kathleenramm would be glad to show you around. She’s very well acquainted with the janitor’s closet…but don’t ask why. It’s a long story!
Secondly, if you’ve ever put anything out there–posted it on social media, a blog, or published it–it’s copyrighted, per some recent copyright laws. You own it, you put it out into the world–presto! Copyrighted! As for ideas, we are not thieves (the jury’s still out on that one guy, though…but he doesn’t dare to show his face again on here after what happened last summer). We’re all very open about our ideas, especially myself, and since no one has started writing pirate romances yet, I think you’re safe!
Speaking of which, I write pirate romances. I’m a historical romance author, but I dabble in the genres of fantasy, contemporary, and mystery. I published my first novel in the spring of last year, and have published five other books (short stories, a novella, and another novel) since then, so if you have any publishing questions, I’d be glad to be of service!
Thirdly, you’ll find that we all love to share our ideas, ask for critiques/crit partners/betas, and talk about nonsensical things such as time machines and secret assassins. Everyone is super nice and encouraging here, so whenever you have any kind of question, someone (or about seventeen someones) will jump at the chance to answer it! Also, you will make a TON of friends!
Fourthly, I have a list of introductory questions that I am obligated to ask on behalf of the Board of Kingdom Pen Directors, so I shall begin. Feel free to answer or disregard; the Directors will take no offense.

Other hobbies….eh. 😂 I tried to get better at art a while back but some of that has kinda dwindled lol, but if I ever want to I have plenty of art supplies.
TBH, I kinda obsess over writing and stories.  I do sing at our church though (idk if that’s a hobby) and I like listening to music….again may not be a hobby 😂
I like quite a few things but as far as them counting as hobbies, not sure.

As for your questions-
#1 ooh….okay so I wrote/drew stories and have had a vivid imagination for A LONG time. Not sure how long. I believe I really got into writing as in actual book and real stories (not just in notebooks) around when I was 8….I think lol.
#2 Half upon a time, Kingdom Keepers (My love…😂), Story thieves (another love), the Mysterious Benedict Society (or something to that affect) and quite a few other books.
#3 Ridley Pearson (author of Kingdom Keepers), James Riley (author of Story Thieves and Half upon a time) and Lemony Snicket (although I didn’t mention any of his books he’s such a cool writer!!! And his books are great)
#4 😳🥴 SO HARD! Do I have to choose?!?! 🤣 I seriously have waaay too many.

Listening to music is great! What are your favorite authors/songs?
McDonald’s Chocolate Chip Cookies? I did not know they sold those. I’ll have to keep an eye out for them. However, I enjoy Chicken McNuggets way too much for fast food.

also I put 3 of my favorite authors in my last post.
As for music I listen to all sorts of stuff. I like instrumentals, songs from Disney, Christian music (especially like Tobymac and other fun stuff like that) just a lot of different kinds of music.
i love playing out stories in my head while listening to music. It’s awesome. I sometimes write with music too (or while something is in the background lol)
anyone else play music while writing? If so I have some great instrumental songs I can recommend!

Writing music? Falling Up has an album called “House Full of Caverns” that was made to be writing music, so I recommend that to anyone who sees this.
