March 23, 2023 at 9:01 pm #138220I saw your profile pic and… I love How to Train Your Dragon! 😍 (so much)(I’m watching it tonight)
…anywho… hi! Welcome to Kingdom Pen!
I’m Theloonyone. Like most here, I am a Christian writer (I’m also a homeschooler, too!), but I also enjoy music, art, and reading. I play the piano (and the clarinet a little) and have been slowly growing my drawing skills over the past couple of years. Right now, I’m working on a couple of different short stories that I started years ago and never finished, and am editing my sci-fi/romance WIP.
What kind of things do you like to draw? My personal favorites are people and fat birds. 😅
I’m kinda new to writing I guess, I’ve been working on a fantasy novel for about a year now, and before that I wrote little things here and there. Although, world building is too much fun, I’m hardly getting any actual writing done
Ooh, what is it about? And, uh, yeah, I also do way too much daydreaming and not nearly enough writing.
Except I never organize all that daydreaming, so not much actual worldbuilding.Anyway, some newbie questions!
1. Stranded on an island. If you like music, what are five songs or five albums that you would want to have if you were stranded on an island? Basically top five, whether through quality or sentiment.
2. Stranded on an island but five books.
3. Favorite movies or tv shows?
4. If you could make any activity an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning a medal for?
Welcome to Kingdom Pen, again! I hope to see you around!
March 24, 2023 at 8:39 am #138223Hi! Welcome to KP!!!
I’m TheArcaneAxiom, I write sci-fi/fantasy, I love math, searching for divine fundamental truth, and incorporating that into my writing. I must say that I also love dragons! I used to do nothing but draw dragons as a child… like, what else was there to do, other than, of course, building dragons with Legos?🤣 HTTYD is also amazing, personally I like the first 2 two more than the last, though I think the third is an amazing ending of the trilogy. It’s also cool to hear that you draw mandalas, me too! I make mandalas and other radial art digitally with Google Drawings.
Questions:
You mentioned your WIP, but I don’t think you’ve told anyone what it’s about yet. Would you like to give us a good old rant on it?
So you’ve mentioned you like to write fantasy specifically. What kind of worldbuilding do you lean towards, hard or soft? (Hard meaning more concrete rules for the reader to follow, vs Soft meaning more open possibility where the readers know anything could happen. This is a spectrum, and you may even be on both ends depending on what aspect of the world your focusing on.)
What is your favorite part in your worldbuilding an why?
And last but not least:
If the pen is mightier than the sword, then why are actions louder than words?

lol, hi! I love your name, Theloonyone, its so funny. I like to draw dragons and mandalas and flower patterns mostly.
Except I never organize all that daydreaming, so not much actual worldbuilding. Its about a teen girl called Arwen and she’s trying to find her missing father. lol, daydreaming is the best part, ammi right?
Anyway, some newbie questions! 1. Stranded on an island. If you like music, what are five songs or five albums that you would want to have if you were stranded on an island? Basically top five, whether through quality or sentiment.
Everything is Awesome Tween Dream Remix, Born to Love You by LANCO, Where No One Goes by Jonsi, Happy Anywhere by Blake Sheldon, and Head Over Boots by Jon Pardi.
2. Stranded on an island but five books.
All four Wingfeather Saga and my Bible
3. Favorite movies or tv shows?
How To Train Your Dragon. and my favorite TV show would have to be Tangled the Series
4. If you could make any activity an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning a medal for?
prolly something to do with observing, im a good people watcher lol

Ooh! Another Wingfeather fan. Who’s your favorite character and which book is your favorite?
I’m Sarafini I go by Sara. I’m a recent homeschool graduate, an almost adult although I’d rather not be. Lol And I’m the biggest AIO (Adventures in Odyssey) fan! Although, I love just about any audio drama except for Johnathan Park. It’s been years since I listened though so I may like it now. I heard they have better actors. Lol I mostly write Sci-fi and thrillers but I dabble in just about every genre except romance and horror.
Questions: Finally getting to the good stuff lol.
- Favorite TV show?
- Favorite drink and or food?
- What’s your writing routine (do you listen to music, do you get a drink or snack, do you read something or watch a writing video before you start)?
- Finally, What do you listen to while you write (of anything)?

I agree. I do way too much daydreaming and not enough writing. Lol
March 24, 2023 at 1:45 pm #138232Hi there! Welcome to Kingdom Pen! I’m Felicity, a homesteader, home school graduate and follower of Jesus. I write Historical Fiction, Contemporary and Fantasy. I know everyone’s been raving about your profile picture 🙂 …but I love the HTTYD soundtrack so much.
There’s been a lot of questions asked, so I won’t ask any more. 😉 Hope you enjoy you’re time on here!
He must increase, but I must decrease.
March 24, 2023 at 1:52 pm #138233Hey! I’m Light Warrior Pen. I’m also new to the community and forum (I joined only a couple weeks ago ….). But welcome!
I’m a romance suspense writer, though I’ve dabbled in other genres, including fantasy.
I also daydream when I should be writing.😂 😉All the others have rained down the newbie questions on you, so I’ll just say again, welcome!

March 24, 2023 at 3:00 pm #138261thanks for explaining! it all makes sense now.
Of course! Glad I could help! 🙂
Chin singing is when you lipsync a song, but you lie on a table and hang your head upside down and put eyes on your chin and cover your actual eyes and your nose. it looks really funny!
Oh yeah! I just helped my little bro do something like that yesterday! 😂

March 24, 2023 at 5:50 pm #138327@thearcaneaxion Yay! another dragon lover! lol XD that’s cool you do art digitally, im working on earning that rn.
and i would looove to rant on my story! ill do it in another post tho, i have a lot of replies to do in this one XD
my worldbuilding would prolly be right in the middle of hard and soft i think, prolly leaning more towards hard. my favorite part in worldbuilding i think would be filling it with creatures and people.
“If the pen is mightier than the sword, then why are actions louder than words?” thats a very interesting question to think about. the first thing that came to mind was that, words are powerful, but its hard to get someone to listen. (i know from experience, as the shy girl in the corner) people arent as ready to hear something someone has to say as they are to watch something interesting.
@sarafini My favorite character is Artham, i think. and my favorite book is the third one. my favorite tv show would be Tangled the Series i think. my favorite drink is root beer, and food is chicken nuggets. my writing routine, i usually will watch a movie before, get really insired, and then i’ll listen to music while i write in my bed. i listen to soundtracks while i write, usually HTTYD, and sometimes MCU.
@felicity Hi! thank you!"does anyone have any good ideas?"
"Oh yeah, but none for this"March 24, 2023 at 6:01 pm #138328Just gonna come in here and say, Arthram is AMAZING! I’d have to say Kal is my favorite (??? There are so many good characters, but I’ll stick with him lol), but I also love wolves, so… yeah. I’m kind of a Wingfeather Saga nerd 😅. Have you read Wingfeather Tales? I didn’t know it existed for a while, and thought it was really, really good. In fact, one of the stories in it is written by N. D. Wilson, another amazing author. Also, I’m kind of hoping they do episodes to show us what happened when Kal and the rest went to the fountain. Do they get Janner back? Cliffhangers are so annoying, but so good at the same time…
Alright, I’ll stop my rant now. 🤣
Follow your heart, but take your brain with you.

When you say people, do you mean races and cultures, or characters, or simply both? Fantasy creatures are so fun to think about! Do you try to come up with original creatures with exotic appearances and features, or more going off of classical existing creatures, or both?

March 24, 2023 at 7:15 pm #138338@kyronthearcanin yesss, i have the Wingfeather Tales sitting on my shelf, i love the one about Podo being a dragon hunter. and the Wooing of Sophelia Stupe is hilarious! have you read the Creaturepedia? i love the way Pembrick writes. and yes, i do kinda hope that they show what happens at the First Well.
@thearcaneaxiom simply both. though i find cultural things a little hard to come up with. And with my creatures i do both as well. Many of the ones ive made up were inspired by my sister. such as a giant horned octopus, murkwraith, and plasma phoenix. and a lot of the classical existing creatures i’ll change to the way i like them. Dragons, for example, in my world dont get bigger than a medium sized dog and are common pets."does anyone have any good ideas?"
