@Leumeister ever painted textures on 3D models? Nope. Probably because I’m extremely uncivilized and disorganized and prefer going free-hand with everything. XD
And yes, Emma and I are sisters.

Welcome to KP @leumeister! Your an animator? That sounds so cool! I hope you enjoy your time in the community!
November 29, 2016 at 8:46 pm #21867Ah, I see… Have you tried writing any fiction at all? 🙂
November 29, 2016 at 8:56 pm #21868I wouldn’t say that’s uncivilized. Just a different area of expertise. 😛 If you like doing digital art, though, it may be easy to paint textures onto UV layouts… Now I suppose I must explain what UV layouts are! XD
They’re basically a flattened out version of a 3D mesh. Like a net. Have you ever seen a net of a cube? It looks like this:
Each of the squares are one of the cubes faces. If you UV unwrapped a cube a certain way it would come out like this. Then you can paint or stamp an image texture onto each square, and the texture would show up on the cube’s faces.
The same principal applies to other 3D objects, too. If you unwrapped, say, the body of a space ship, you’ll get presented with another net, except a lot more complicated looking. I’ve had an aversion to texturing things unless they already have their own UV layout, because of how scary it looks, but that’s a fact that all animators and 3D modellers have to face at some point
Oh, and UV means 2 dimensional coordinates, because in the 3D space, X, Y, and Z are already used, so 2D things in a 3D application are replaced by UV. There’s also W, which is the corresponding Z coordinate, but that’s only used in spacial cases.
Did that make sense? I’m sorry if it confused you! XD
@winter-rose
Hey, thanks for the warm welcome!
And, yes, I am an animator, and yes it is cool, but it can sometimes be very tedious! XD
I hope I enjoy my time in the community too! 😀
November 30, 2016 at 4:55 am #21880@leumeister, Hi!! I’m Australian too! Before, @bluejay, @anna-brie and I were the only Aussies. It’s okay if you’d rather not say, but where in Australia are you from? And I noticed on @perfectfifths introductory thread that you guys are siblings. I live in Brisbane. Anyway, Welcome! Oh and by the way, you title (Hey guys, hi, um…) reminded me of a Studio C: The bisque man. If you haven’t come across Studio C before you should definitely check them out.

November 30, 2016 at 8:20 am #21887Hey! I live in Western Australia. 🙂
Yayz! 😀 Someone got the reference! When in doubt…Lobster Bisque! XD PerfectFifths and I really enjoy Studio C. 😀
November 30, 2016 at 12:45 pm #21899@Leumeister I did when I was younger, but it was pretty awful. 😛
November 30, 2016 at 4:09 pm #21907@leumeister Hello! As with @perfectfifths I am slightly late. But I am glad you can be here! 😀
November 30, 2016 at 9:31 pm #21942Okay. Have you ever wanted to try again?
Hey Sara! 😀 I’m glad I can be here, too! 🙂
December 1, 2016 at 4:54 am #21960@leumeister. Another Studio C-er!!!! I read your title and said to my sister, (That’s HeatherC, those of you who know her) “That sounds like Lobster Bisque!?” And she told me that that was ridiculous to suppose. And here I was right all along. 😛 I just went and did a victory dance all around her! 😉 When I heard you guys were from Perth I thought, ‘We might actually know these guys…cause we knew a lot of homeschoolers in Perth…’ Who knows!?. 🙂

December 1, 2016 at 1:24 pm #21986@Leumeister Er…I’ve entertained brief thoughts of doing so before, but mainly I think I just love my sister’s WIP so much I’m happy with that. 😀 I read it as it comes, and beta-read, and discuss it; so I kind of get a little of the same experience even though not exactly.
Don’t know if I’d have time anyway. 😉
December 1, 2016 at 8:59 pm #22031Okay, fair enough. 🙂
December 1, 2016 at 9:05 pm #22038@Leumeister that’s pretty cool… I haven’t done any animation though. Just artwork; digital painting. Also some book cover design. 😉 Comes in handy when one is a writer, don’t you think? 😀
December 1, 2016 at 10:01 pm #22062Oh yeah, definitely. How do you choose a book cover, exactly?
December 2, 2016 at 11:52 am #22083@Leumeister How long have you been writing?
