https://forums.theaetherliSeptember 15, 2017 at 9:40 pm #43454@Aislinn-Mollisong Oh, I’m soooo glad you asked. 😀 Most of us here are….mildly….obsessed with MBTI. Mildly. 😛
Actually, I am short on time so I’ll just have to give you the basics. But for a more detailed explanation, you can check out this thread. Near the bottom of the 3rd page, @Kate-Flournoy gives an excellent rundown on the meaning behind all the letters in each acronym, and of course, there is this website which gives another explanation and also has a free test you can take to find your MBTI type if you are so inclined. (And pleeeaaasssseee be so inclined and let me know your results if you take the test. 😛 )
Now, for an actual answer. XD MBTI stands for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator which is the most widely used personality typing system in the world. (Or is that personality typology system? Idk. XD ) Anywho….
According to MBTI everyone belongs to one of 16 different personality types. And each type is represented by a four-letter acronym. The types are as follows: INFP, INFJ, ISFP, ISFJ, ISTP, ISTJ, INTP, INTJ, ENFP, ENFJ, ESFP, ESFJ, ESTP, ESTJ, ENTP, and ENTJ. (I think I got them all….XD )The first letter is either E or I which stand for extroverted or introverted, respectively. Extroverts are most comfortable living in the outer world of people and places while introverts prefer to spend most of their time in the inner world of thoughts and ideas. Constant extroverting can quickly exhaust introverts triggering a sudden need for quiet and solitude to “recharge”.
The second letter-digit in an acronym represents a person’s perceptive process or how they perceive the world. People who prefer to use their gut-feeling or intuition to gather information about what is going on around them will have a second letter of “N” to represent iNtuition. Others will prefer to rely on their five senses to perceive their surroundings. Those weirdos are called Sensors, and their second letter will be S. (I’m kidding about the weirdo part. 😛 Sensors are cool, I’m just an iNtuitive so I’m pretending to be prejudiced. XD )
The third letter-digit represents a person’s judging process. This process tells how someone arrives at conclusions based on the information they took in with their perceptive process. They take in information via either Sensing or iNtuition and then they decide what they think about that information via Thinking or Feeling. Thinkers will examine the info brought in logically, and they’ll come to conclusions following an impartial, cause-and-effect method of reasoning. Feelers, on the other hand, will measure the info brought in against their personal beliefs and go from there. The conclusions don’t have to be logical, but they feel right and they agree with the Feeler’s ideals.
The last letter is either J or P which stands for Judging or Perceiving. This one is pretty complicated in what all it represents so I won’t go into detail here. But if you want to tell the difference between a J and a P, all you have to do is look at their lifestyle. Generally speaking, Js are organized, have a plan, and form opinions swiftly. Perceivers are more laid back and probably aren’t all that organized. One way to sum J vs. P succinctly is that Judgers make their lives happen whereas Perceivers let life happen to them.
So for example, an ENTP is extroverted (prefers the outer world), intuitive (trusts their gut-instincts to tell them what’s going on), thinking (makes decisions based more on impartial reasoning), and a perceiver (has a more laid-back attitude toward their life).
I have a feeling that this breakdown is a bit all over the place and probably doesn’t make any sense. XD If it’s too indecipherable definitely check out the other resources I mentioned. 😛

September 16, 2017 at 6:47 pm #43488Oh, thanks! @graciegirl I’ve actually taken that test two other times, and I’ve gotten different results all three times! This time, I got ENTJ, Commander.
ENTP, Aether-borg Hero with cape obsession and fascination with swords.
https://forums.theaetherliSeptember 16, 2017 at 8:15 pm #43492I love the MBTI test. I also find it useful for characters. By the way, I’m INFJ, Advocate.
September 18, 2017 at 10:07 pm #43813@Aislinn-Mollisong Yeah, it takes a few tries at the test to figure out your type. I actually prefer to just read the descriptions of each type and decide for myself, but that takes a lot of time. XD
@Dragon-Snapper *swishes cloak and cackles evilly* YESSSS. WE HAVE THE DRAGONSES SURROUNDED, PRECIOUS. YES, YEEESSSSSS.@Emily You’re an ESFJ?! Awesomesauce! I don’t think I know any of those, so thank you for letting me check another MBTI type off my To-Know List. 😛 I think all that’s left is ESFP and maybe ISTJ…..Hmmm, where could I find some of those I wonder? 😛
@Emerald-Flyer Yay! A fellow MBTI lover! And an INFJ. Coolio. 😀 I’m INFP, but I have a lot of friends who are INFJ. You guys are great!*is probably geeking out about something*

@aislinn-mollisong The test didn’t work for me either, but my brother in-law studies brain types so I should know ;).September 21, 2017 at 8:30 pm #44310I have a short story idea, and I think I shall post it on here if I ever get it done. Which is unlikely with my schedule. But I shall try.
