Hi there! It’s wonderful to meet you!! I’m Lexi ๐ Oh, do you like coffee? *pours hot coffee into a mug, stirs in extra creamer, and offers it* I’m a fan of coffee, if you don’t mind. An INFP, huh? Me too! *gasps*ย Andย you like fantasy? *raises hand* Something else we have in common!
So I have a few questions (forgive me if other people have asked these already)
1. How long have you been writing?
2. Who’s your favorite fictional character?
3. Why do you like writing fantasy?
4. Do you like cookies?
5. Do you like dragons?
*checks off checklist* Yup, that should be it. Well, it’s great to meet you, and welcome to the Kingdom! Make yourself at home ๐
February 12, 2021 at 5:34 pm #92636Hello! Your story sounds really interesting!
I’ve not tried writing much sci-fi yet, but that’s not to say I never will. I actually don’t know how to narrow down the genre of my WIP any further than speculative fiction! The place that the story takes place in isn’t exactly based on our world or time period, but there are no real fantasy or sci-fi elements to it, either. I’m planning to write a fantasy novel in the future, though.
February 12, 2021 at 5:55 pm #92650@writerlexi1216 Hi! It’s great to meet you too!
1. I have been making up stories for as long as I can remember and I started to write them down as soon as I knew how. However, I started trying type them out on a computer when I was (probably) about ten-years-old or so. I had no idea what I was doing and gave up each new project quickly. Then, many years later when the pandemic hit, I actually went and educated myself and starting writing seriously.
2. Ahhh… I really don’t know! I guess one fictional character I like, who not everybody seems to like, is Frodo from LOTR. For some reason I really relate to him and I’m fascinated by his personal journey and struggle against the ring and against himself. There are also a ton of other characters I love, but he was the first I thought of.
3. I like writing fantasy because I enjoy exploring fantasy worlds and discovering the types of people who live there, and how they live. Maybe it’s not a great reason, but I think I’m also drawn to it because of the element of escapism fantasy provides.
4. Yes! Especially chocolate chip!
5. Yes!!!

Just so we’re all warned. ๐๐ WHOA! 60K THAT’S EPIC!!!!!! *throws out party streamers* I’m gonna pull out my special Emojis to celebrate!! ๐๐๐๐๐๐ *gasp* ANOTHER LORD OF THE RINGS FAN?????!!!! YESS!!!!! *high fives* Who’s your favorite character in LotR?
God gives His hardest battles to His strongest soldiers.
TeenWritersNook.comFebruary 12, 2021 at 8:23 pm #92679Hi Issabelle!!! It’s great to meet you too! Thanks for the high five and party streamers!
Yay! You like Lord of the Rings too? My favorite character is Frodo! But then I also really like Sam, Pippin and Merry, Aragorn… and a whole lot of others.
You’re publishing a book soon? That’s so cool! What is it about?
February 12, 2021 at 8:30 pm #92681You’re welcome!!!!!!!
Yep!!! I mean at the moment I’ve only seen the movies, but I’ve started the book and so far it’s been SOOOO EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!! Aaahh, those are some of my FAVORITE characters too!!!!!!! It’s actually REALLY hard to choose. ๐
Well, I’m not publishing a novel sadly, but a short story of mine is gonna be published in a teen anthology that’ll come out in March! It’s called “Fairly Impish” and is about this girl, Aria, who’s had these same repetitive dreams over and over of this boy. Well, one day that same boy who had plagued her dreams shows up and explains his country is in danger. He needs her help to save it. But Aria is definitely no hero. Annnddd now this is starting to turn into a lengthy synopsis, so I’m gonna stop there. ๐ What’s your WIP about?
God gives His hardest battles to His strongest soldiers.
TeenWritersNook.comFebruary 12, 2021 at 8:45 pm #92687I love the movies and the books both so much! I also watched the movies before I read the books, and by the end it felt almost like I had actually gone on the journey along with the characters. I don’t think I’ve ever watched another movie where I was so immersed in the story.
Your short story sounds really interesting! The title “Fairly Impish” intrigues me, and so does the synopsis!
My WIP is a speculative fiction novel about a girl who delivers stolen goods in order for her family to survive. However, things go wrong and she and her close friend are arrested by a corrupt official. Along with the others they are held captive with, some of whom are trustworthy and some of whom are certainly not, they must escape in order protect their family back home.

Eek!ย I like Frodo too!ย And I’ve been telling stories for as long as I can remember.
Now let’s see… questions…
1.)ย Homeschooled/public schooled?
2.)ย Any pets?ย If not, then what is your dream pet?
3.)ย If you don’t mind sharing, what was the inspiration behind your current WIP?ย Your MC?
4.)ย Plotter/Panster/Planster?
I hope you enjoy the KP forum!ย It’s really nice to meet you.ย ๐

February 13, 2021 at 7:26 pm #92807@wyn-rose Okay, whoa!!! We seem to have a lot in common!
Hi! My name’s Hallie! I started writing at a young age too! I mostly toy with the YA fantasy genre, but my WIP I’m writing now is more of a fantasy mixed with historical fiction!
Your novel sounds enticing! 60k???? Good for you!!!!!!!
I also LOVE LotR!!! I completely get why you like Frodo so much! His character arch and inner conflict is kind of awesome! I personally really like Sam!
And I love art too!!! Mostly painting and drawing! Have you ever digitally drawn?? I’m trying to learn how ๐
Have you ever played an instrument?? If so, what was/is it???

February 13, 2021 at 8:11 pm #92816@wyn-rose *waltzes into the welcoming party late, tea in hand* Hello and welcome Wyn!!! I’m Elizabeth, and it’s so very nice to meet you. Would you care for a cup of tea? I particularly like Wild Berry Zinger at this time of night. ๐
Ahh, a fellow LOtR fan!! *fistbump* I totally agree with you–Frodo gets way more hate than he deserves. Do you have a favorite book/movie of the trilogy?
Also, you might have answered this already, but do you have a favorite part of writing? (Planning/outlining, writing dialogue, worldbuilding, etc.?)
โSeven seconds till the end. Time enough for you. Perhaps. But what will you do with it?โ
February 13, 2021 at 10:17 pm #92823Hi Lily, it’s nice to meet you! Thank you so much!
1. I go to a public school.
2. I don’t currently have any pets, but I used to have two really cute guinea pigs. My dream pet is either a cat or a dog, which is why I’m really excited my family will be getting a dog this summer!
3. Early last year, before the pandemic, my family had planned a vacation. One day I was bored and I thought up a character who I imagined riding on the plane we would be taking. I spent a lot of school lunch breaks writing individual scenes featuring the character (which admittedly didn’t make much sense). It’s funny how over time the different characters and plot points kept changing and evolving. Though I had no idea what I was doing or even how to write a story at the time, I eventually educated myself online. Now, the story and it’s plot, as well as most of the characters, are dramatically different from my original ideas. The strange thing is that one of the only things that didn’t change much was my protagonist, who I now realize is extremely similar to other protagonists featured in some of the stories I had started and never finished as a kid… I hope that makes a least a bit of sense!
4. I guess I’m a bit of a plantser hybrid! I know all the important points in my story before I write it, but I often improvise and change minor details scene by scene. Which do you find yourself doing more?
February 13, 2021 at 10:25 pm #92827Hello Hallie! It’s great to meet you!
I really like Sam as well!
I’ve never tried digital art before, but it looks so good when other people do it! That’s so cool you’re learning how to do it!
I’m not great at playing instruments, but I can play a little of piano, which I enjoy sometimes. I played ukulele and recorder a little bit for elementary school (though I don’t really remember how to do it) if that counts! I also tried learning the clarinet in school for a while, but I was never very good ๐ . Do you play any instruments?
February 13, 2021 at 10:32 pm #92829Hello Elizabeth, it’s so nice to meet you too! I’m not a big fan of tea, but Wild Berry Zinger sounds interesting! ๐
Yes, Frodo gets way too much hate! I think my favorite LOTR movie is Return of the King, but I’m not sure what my favorite book is. I’m currently re-reading the Fellowship of the Ring which I’ve been really enjoying (though I tend to read it very slowly).
I think my favorite part of actually writing is writing character interactions, particularly when the characters are especially emotional. Character are one of my favorite aspects of stories! What is your favorite part of writing?
February 14, 2021 at 4:39 pm #92873That’s so exciting that you’re getting a dog!ย Do you know what kind you’re getting/hoping for?
I feel you with the self-educating on writing.ย There are a lot of amazing sites and articles on how to hone your craft (as well as much needed encouragement.)
And what you’re saying about your main character totally makes sense.ย A lot of professional writers do ‘pre-writing’ before tackling a novel; they often do what you did, taking a protagonist and putting them in different scenes and writing it out (whether it will end up in the final story or not).ย Also, it sounds like you have a favorite type of character you like to write.ย Some famous authors lean toward a particular type of character (i.e Jennifer Nielsen often writes about bold, witty characters; John Flanagan’s are smart, inquisitive, yet underestimated by others, and maybe a tad immature at times).
Ah, I’d have to say I’m between a plotter and a planster…. (does that make sense?!)ย I do likeย to plan out the overall story so I know where I’m going, but then I sorta ‘pants’ some scenes/details/etc.ย I guess you could say I fluctuate between the two XD
