Hi, everyone! My name is Grace King-Matchett, a new member of the Kingdom Pen community. I am a twelve year-old Christian, homeschooled in Canada. I’m quite weird and love to write, and am currently working on writing a fantasy-adventure series, seven books of which I have planned out. The series is called The Travelers’ Caravan.
When I’m not writing, I can usually be found drawing! I really love to draw my story characters, popular characters, or sometimes just people that emerge. Drawing and writing are my absolute favourite things to do!
I also really enjoy reading, too. Currently, I’m reading (at the time I write this) Storey’s Guide to Raising Ducks and also reading Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident, and probably seventeen others I can’t remember, lol.
A project I’m starting: duck raising! I’ve been researching and learning about caring for and rearing ducks for business. A friend of mine and I are planning to raise ducks to start our own poultry business! We plan to sell duck eggs, meat, ducklings, all that jazz.
And so that’s a summary of me! I’m really excited to get to know all of you on Kingdom Pen more. 🙂

i'll make the winter now my homeJanuary 26, 2021 at 12:36 pm #90396Hi and Welcome to Kingdom Pen!
The Traveler’s Caravan sounds extremely intriguing, I love the title. Who is the MC? I love drawing as well, but I still have loads to learn about it.
And ducks? That awesome! I actually live on a farm and while we don’t raise ducks, we’ve raised chickens, turkeys, guinea hens, and a few other assorted fowl breeds. The guinea hens, we stopped raising after the first year, however… (long story). I probably have tons of strange animal stories, that you’ll have to ask me about someday, (or not, because some of them are kinda long:) Anyway, I wish you the best of luck! It’s amazing to have you here at KP!
January 26, 2021 at 12:41 pm #90397Wow, already a response! 🙂
The MC’s name is Bren (at least, for the first book) but there are four main characters: Bren, Marge, Noelle (….kind of a main character?? Don’t want to spoil the series, lol, but she’s in the first book) and Ripley. As of writing this, I’ve drawn Marge 23 times (she’s kind of a favourite, haha).
Ah yes, the guinea fowl. I have heard that they are… a bit much to handle, haha.
Thank you! I hope that your writing adventure may progress rapidly! 😉

There’s also another character in my series, named Diel, but she gets her own side book and adventure, and the characters only cross paths once and briefly at that, heh.

i'll make the winter now my homeJanuary 26, 2021 at 1:27 pm #90402@scripter-of-kingdoms Hey, welcome to the Kingdom! Nice to meet you!
Your series sounds so cool! I’d love to hear more about it!
Ahhh I love Artemis Fowl! One of my favorite series growing up.
Raising ducks? That’s awesome!
Some questions…
1. Favorite movies?
2. What genres do you like to write?
3. Favorite desserts?
Anyway, it’s really nice to meet you, and I hope to see you around the forum!
Lately, it's been on my brain
Would you mind letting me know
If hours don't turn into daysJanuary 26, 2021 at 2:09 pm #90403@devastate-lasting Nice to meet you too! 🙂
My favourite movies… I don’t know! I like a lot of movies, but do enjoy the Diary of a Wimpy Kid ones, they’re so funny. I also like Lord of the Rings (and if I can sneak in my favourite tv show, Avatar: The Last Airbender).
I really love to write fantasy. It’s my favourite genre, and it feels like I can express the worlds and characters in my head through writing. I have written realistic fiction and poetry before, however!
My favourite dessert is probably apple pie or cake; my mom makes REALLY good pies and a killer chocolate cake.
Glad to get to know some people more, hope to see you around, too! 🙂

I know I really should read the books.I’m currently reading A Night Divided by Jennifer A. Nielsen! And I LOVE your whole duck raising project!!! SWEET!!! Let’s have some questions to get the party a going, shall we?~What is the best fantasy author name you can think of?
~What’s the last word you read?
~Would you rather binge watch your favorite TV show or stay up all night reading?
~If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
~If the MC of your story suddenly showed up in your room one day, what’s the first thing you would say to him/her?
Well, that’s all I’ve got right now!!!!
Some genius questions if I do say so myself.Once again, AWESOME to have you here!! *gives you cookies* I guess I’ll see ya around!!!!! <33God gives His hardest battles to His strongest soldiers.

Hi! I’m Joy Caroline and answer also to Joy, Caroline, or JC. 😂
Your duck raising thing sounds so cool! My grandpa (dad’s side) and my dad grew up on farms as well, so they drove tractors and milked cows and all that cool stuff. My uncle (also dad’s side) lives on a bit of small land I wouldn’t exactly call a farm, but he has a chicken coop, grows his own produce in a huge garden, grinds his own grain, and makes breakfast from the eggs his chickens lay.
Anyways! I write Biblical fiction myself. If you wanna tell us some more about your WIP, head over to the WIP chat topic!
What’s your favorite book? Have you read Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird? That is my all-time favorite book and if you have not read it, you NEED to!
Can’t wait to see some more of ya around the Kingdom!
January 26, 2021 at 3:04 pm #90422@issawriter7 Hi! It’s great to meet you too! 😉 (also TOTALLY a fellow bibliophile!!)
Thank you! I’m really excited to work more on my books, I think Kingdom Pen will certainly help me with that.
Best fantasy author name? Hmmm, S.D. Smith certainly comes to mind. I love his books so much, the Green Ember series is AMAZING! Have you read it?
The last word I read in a book was ‘environment’.
I would TOTALLY stay up all night to read!!! I do sometimes try to pull that, but my mom discovers me, lol.
If I could only read one book for the rest of my life, hmm… so hard to pick! I think that “Finding Serendipity” by Angelica Banks takes the cake, though. It’s a story about stories, and is one of my absolute favourite books!
If one of my MC’s showed up in my room, I’d probably make a terrified/dying salmon face, and then say to her, “Marge, you are the best princess in all of Aer’ethean history! Don’t let anyone take it away from you!”
Don’t worry, those were some pretty genius questions! 😉 Thank you, the KP community has been so welcoming!
Oh, and thanks for the cookies! 😀

I don’t know what I’d say to Colin!! (He’s the MC of my story!!!)Aww, THANK YOU SOOO MUCH, GIRL!!!! You’re totally welcome!!

That’s so cool! I actually just moved out to a farm, and we’re living in the basement of friends (they own the farm). I want to be able to use our ducks’ eggs, once they start laying, too! 🙂
I probably will head over to the WIP section; I’d love to tell you guys more! 😀
My favourite book is probably Finding Serendipity by Angelica Banks, but I like a lot of books!! 🙂 No, I haven’t read To Kill A Mockingbird yet, but I’ve definitely heard about it and would love to!

i'll make the winter now my homeJanuary 27, 2021 at 1:15 am #90571Hello there! I’m an Aussie and I also love ducks and I’m hoping to get some very soon (I live out on a farm and have a bunch of creatures already but I’m really keen on ducks!)
Other than ducks, do you have any/want any other pets?

ekseaver.wordpress.comJanuary 27, 2021 at 10:25 am #90575That’s really cool! I’ve never met anyone from Australia before!! 🙂
Have you ever heard of the Australian Spotted Duck? They’re quite pretty!
Yes, I would like some more pets (tee hee)… I have one rat already named Theo, he’s very sweet! Rats make amazing pets. I’d like to have a dog, though, too. Maybe a border collie.
