      Hi everyone!

My name is Annabelle, and I just recently joined Kingdom Pen. I’m super excited to start exploring this site and get to know all you fellow writers!

First, a little bit about me: I have always liked creating stories, and currently I am getting ready to publish my drama/fantasy/action book called Identity, which is about mermaids. I’m just waiting for my parents to finish the very slow process of editing. In the meantime, I’ve been doing more reading (yes, I am a very serious bookworm!) and learning how I can improve my writing.

I love art, and I do a lot of hand-lettering, watercolor painting, sketching, and fashion designing. My favorite thing to draw is mermaids.

I’m also a Wingfeather Saga fan, for all you other Featherheads out there. I’ve read all the books, and if you’re reading this and you haven’t read them, then READ THEM NOW!!! It’s definitely the best book series ever created (so far, at least 😉 )

I’m a pianist (I consider myself fairly advanced), and I play for my youth group worship on Wednesdays.

I love Jesus, and I’m a non-denominational Christian. My favorite book in the Bible is Psalms. I try to glorify him through my writing as much as possible.

I also have my own blog: annabelle.batie.com, where I share fiction, poetry, and writing tutorials.

Well, I think that’s all you need to know about me. Please ask questions or try to get a conversation started. Another fact about me: I am a super social person. I’m looking forward to meeting you all!

In the words of Jinto Queb, "Hurry, reading is fun!"

Hello there, and welcome to KP!

I’m called Elishavet Pidyon around here. *Curtsies* It’s nice to meet you.

What songs do you like to play the most? I’m just learning to read music.

I love art too, meaning that I can paint some, but mostly draw, and enjoy photography. Your art sounds interesting. I’ve not really tried hand lettering other than to decorate some blank thank you cards.

The book of Psalms is amazing; what are your favorite passages? I like chapters 3, 13, 22, 27, 100, and probably a lot more that I can’t think of right now.

Yay for book worms! I also love to read, and the Wingfeather Saga is a series I’ve enjoyed immensely.

        So…for questions? Let’s see:

If given the choice, where would you rather live, Aniera, Skree, or the Hollows?

        Should shoes be worn indoors?

Which is better, ice cream or cheesecake?

        Is air conditioning a necessity?

You have listened to fears, child. Come, let me breathe on you... Are you brave again? -Aslan

It’s nice to meet you too, @elishavet-pidyon!

Well, for piano, I really like playing modern music made for piano solos. Have you heard of The Piano Guys? I play some of their song arrangements, like “A Million Dreams”, “Perfect”, and “Angels We Have Heard on High.” I also play worship music (normally I use a lead sheet for chords and then make my own arrangement). I do piano classics too, although I haven’t been playing as many of those lately. I really like Beethoven, but his songs are so hard!

My favorite Psalm is probably 23, but I also really like Psalms 30 and 150.

Yes, you like WFS too! Who’s your favorite character in the series?

I would definitely live in Anniera (once it was restored, of course). If not, I would live in Skree.

No, in my opinion, shoes should definitely not be worn indoors. What’s the point? Okay, I get it if you just have to grab something really quick from inside, but other than that I think it’s good to create a habit of taking your shoes off before you go inside.

I think ice cream is way better than cheesecake. Cheesecake is too rich for me, and I typically prefer more cold desserts anyway.

Well, it depends on where you live to decide if you need air conditioning or not. If you live in Florida, then you DEFINITELY need it. If you live in Alaska… not so much.

Now I will try to think of some questions to ask you, if I can:

What’s your favorite thing to draw?

Do you like to read and/or write poetry?

What kind of photography do you do?

@annabelle Heyy and welcome to the Kingdom! I’m Linyang, though most here call me Lin. Nice to meet you!

Identity sounds fascinating! Are you going to be self-publishing it?

I also play piano! How long have you been playing?

              Hullo and welcome. I’m Anatra.

YES Wingfeather Saga! Such a beautiful book series. Andrew Peterson is so talented, have you heard any of his music?

I do a little art… usually only making random ideas that pop into my head and trying to make something beautiful out of them. For instance, recently someone wanted me to draw a catduck. So I drew a male wood duck crossed with a black cat. It’s definitely something.

I play piano too! Though I usually stick to classical music(Tchaikovsky, Bach, Beethoven, mostly from the Bastien collections), I can pick out some pop melodies with my sis, who plays guitar. Were you self taught, or did you get a teacher?

The Piano Guys are great! So talented. It’s been a while since I’ve listened to them.

                @annabelle

I heard a few if the Piano Guys’ stuff, but it was a while ago. They’ve done a lot of good arrangements basing off what I’ve heard.

Yep, Beethoven’s work is beautiful, but I’m definitely not there yet. 😉

Who’s my favorite wingfingy character? Artham, Janner, or Kalmar, but perhaps Sarah or Arundel? (Or Nia…) It’s hard to choose, especially since I like different characters for their own unique reasons.

I totally agree on the shoes and the air conditioner. As for the ice cream… I understand where you’re coming from.

My favorite thing to draw is, judging from my sketch books, people. However, I love to draw maps, shadows, animals, and rooms: basically anything that has an interesting expression.

I love poetry, both the reading of it and the writing. I have a small book that I use to write my scattered verses in. Do you write poetry?

Ah, photography. I’ve helped my father do the photography for a church camp, so I’ve worked in a semi-professional setting as well as just taking random shots around our house. I don’t do it a lot and am still learning, but I like it very much.

Other than Wingfeather, what are some of your favorite books/authors/genres?

Mine are: C. S. Lewis, S. D. Smith, Howard Pyle, Rev. David K. Bernard, Rev. Brent Graves, Chuck Black, Jane Austen, L. M. Montgomery, Rev. Ken Gurley, etc….

                *Looks over list*

Eek! That looks a little too well-read. 😉

@annabelle Hey there! Welcome to the Kingdom! My name is Jodi. I write fantasy, historical fiction, and dystopia. I’ve been doing one short story a month for about the past eight months, but I’ve recently started working on a novella-length project. I’m also co-writing a fantasy/mystery book with my sister.

That’s so cool that you’re about to publish a book! If you ever need a beta reader or anything, please let me know. I love beta reading stories and helping out other authors!

I love fashion design! Do you also do research on like the history of fashion, or are you mostly focused on modern styles?

My favorite books in the Bible are Ecclesiastes and Esther. I find Ecclesiastes reassuring and comforting, though it initially seems…despairing, maybe? and Esther is such an inspiring story. I love the VeggieTales take on Esther lol. What makes Psalms your favorite book?

I’ll definitely be checking out your blog. Welcome again! 🙂

Yes, I will be self-publishing Identity, since it’s the first book that I plan to publish.

I started teaching myself piano six years ago (which lasted about one year), then I had a teacher on and off for three years, and now I have been teaching myself for three more years. So in all, I’ve been playing for seven years. I completed all my books, so now I don’t really need a teacher, I can just learn whatever songs I want to learn. How long have you been playing? What are your favorite songs to play?

                      Nice to meet you, @anatra23

Yeah, WFS is so good. I’m nowhere near Andrew Peterson’s level of writing expertise. I have listened to some of his music, and that’s pretty good. I like his books better, though.

I like classical music too. Some songs are really fun to play. As I said above, I self-taught myself for one year when I was first starting piano, then I had a teacher for three years, then for the past three years I’ve been self-teaching again. I actually am a piano teacher myself now. I only teach a few of my more beginner friends, but it’s fun!

                        @elishavet-pidyon

Yeah, WFS characters are so hard to decide on because there are so many of them and their personalities are all so unique.

Same for me on drawing. I draw people (and mermaids), and sometimes I draw fashion just for fun, or I’ll make maps or fantasy creatures.

Yes, I do like poetry. I mostly write short little rhymes, so nothing big or magnificent. I like reading it too, but only if it’s short. Most long poems are too boring for me. Here is one poem I composed a while ago called “Reading”:

                        I love to read,
                        I read every book.
                        At the library
                        I look in every nook.

                        I read day and night.
                        I am never stopping.
                        I always read.
                        My book is never dropping.

It’s a bit of an exaggeration, but it is partly true! xD

Yeah, my mom does some photography, so I know a little bit about it, but not very much.

My favorite authors are S.D. Smith, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Laura Martin, Jody Hedlund, and others. I’ve heard of Chuck Black, but I don’t think I’ve read any of his books. Sounds like we have a lot of the same favorites, though!

Wow, that’s a lot of writing, @jodi-maile! I love fantasy, and that’s a great idea to get in the habit of writing one short story a month. I might have to try that.

Thanks so much for offering to help with my book! When my parents are done editing, I might just have to take you up on that offer.

I mostly do modern fashion styles, but sometimes for my books, I have to research fashion history.

Haha, I actually like the Esther VeggieTales too, even though I haven’t watched it in ages. Esther is a good story. I really like Psalms because it’s kind of poetic (and I like poetry) and it’s really interesting to read about some of David’s (and others’) life experiences and how they feel about them. I feel like some other books of the Bible are more factual; most of the time they don’t share the feelings of the characters. I think Psalms does that more. Don’t get me wrong, I love the other books, but I just connect with Psalms better.

@annabelle Nice, nice! I’ve been playing piano for almost thirteen years now, and my teacher assigns me classical music, but I like playing pretty songs I hear.

Do you have any other projects you’re working on, (or plan to work on) after Identity?

Wow, thirteen years is a pretty long time to be playing piano.

For writing projects… well, I have a whole list of new stories to make (or updates to make on old ones), but I haven’t gotten to them yet. I have a lot of school and other activities, so it’s hard to find time for those things now. My five-year-old brother just finished writing his first picture book, so I might help him publish it soon. Yes, he does write his own stories already and he already reads chapter books.

Well, I’m homeschooled, so all of us do some sort of writing activities for school. But other than that, not really. My little brother is just the most similar to me. He loves reading and writing. He handwrote his book, but I had to have him read it to me right away after he wrote it because I knew it would be pretty hard to read his handwriting. He’s still working on that.

Now that it’s handwritten in readable language, I’ll type it onto the computer, then we have to work on illustrations. That will be the hardest part for me, because, even though I do draw a lot, I’m not really the best at it.
