yeah, if you let yourself you can see it coming from page 1 of their book. It was always there and always inevitable.

as for Rowan, I believe in Holy election, and because of that, this works. That’s more of a Calvinist view though. Basically, Rowan would have never believed no matter how much time he had, unless God called him. And God chose to open his eyes and heart at the last moment. Does that make sense?

yeah, problem is, he doesn’t know anything about Joseph. He’s uncovering the story backwards. If he keeps searching, he’ll find Joseph’s story, but not for a while.

          😢😢😢

Okay, I see where you’re coming from.

True, maybe… but maybe he’s done enough research to have found it already. I don’t know. I wanted to hear something about Joseph’s descendants, but it’s okay.

I honestly have no idea on what my views on this whole election thing are. But I didn’t see Rowan’s conversion to be like, fake or forced or whatever.

The example of that criminal on the cross in the Bible, that happened, so I mean why can’t this one? Y’know?

It might have just been something I thought, then. Not that I was saying it was totally unrealistic—I just know that last-minute conversions tend to be less … I don’t know.

                        Lolololol.

Okay, well Joseph and Amelia ended up having nine kids. Mercy was the oldest of their children, with Beric being the oldest through adoption. (of that makes sense)

Beric and Quin designed a network of guys who went throughout Ardenta helping farmers recover land and people rebuild after the war. These guys also spread the Gospel wherever they went, using manual labor as a sort of gateway. He ended up marrying the daughter of a farmer that he helped. Mercy grew up and married and had children, and so did most of the other children, though their fifth, Allan, died when he was fifteen. He was working with Beric on a farm, and he saved one of the farmer’s sons from drowning but ended up getting slammed against the rocks in the rapids and drown before Beric could pull him out. Amelia and Joseph also lost a baby two days after it was born. But besides those two, the rest of their children lived to grow up and start families of their own.

When the Empire fell, things were pretty tense for a time, but because of the alliances formed after the Ardentan conquest, it was clear that if any one country on that continent was touched, the invaders would have to deal with all of them. So Ardenta and the others were safe, though the Empire was completely torn apart.

Joseph continued to lead the church he had founded with Stephen, David, and their father, and he continued to farm and raise his family with Amelia.

Does that answer y’all’s questions, or am I missing things you want to know?

                              @ellette-giselle

Oh wait, what if he’s describing the painting and he was like, “it was from one of the kingdoms that has knights, obviously not here,” or something like that.

                              Or does that not work.

Still seems kind of ‘as you know’ish.

Something along those lines. What if he says ‘it was a painting from [_____]. Flavia loved the knight in it and often lamented we didn’t have any here. She said I would make the perfect knight, and would make up stories about…’

*shrugs* It just seems like this would fit well with Flavia and provide the explanation you want in a natural way.

He would have just published the journals. I had an idea of having someone like a novelist pick up the journals and hunt down Joseph’s descendants and such and then be the author of the books, but I decided to stick with the archaeological student because I like that better.

He didn’t know about them. But, if he gets interested in Leon and Julian’s story, (which he is) he’ll start digging (metaphorically and literally) and uncover things about them.

As for the churches, everyone in the Empire was taken into slaver. It was just if they stayed in the Empire or were taken somewhere else that was what changed. Rolf was able to get his group to stay, but some of the other churches were spread out.

                              Ah. Okay. Thank you!

                              anyhow, that’s the end.

                              Good? Or not.

I think the time skip was the right choice. Without it, the ending wouldn’t feel that much different from the other books, and we would be expecting you to switch to Fox or someone else and continue. This wraps it up in a satisfying way that concludes everything.

By the way, who was the person that slipped Leon and Julian the note telling them what happened to the prince at the end of the previous book? I don’t believe we ever found out.
