@everyone
WOW am I late. Okay disclaimer: I’ve read neither Les Mis. or Count of Monte Cristo, and am eager to read both, however, I’ve been looking for both for about a year (lazily, I will admit) But soon I WILL read them, hopefully, or listen to them although I’ve never gotten as much out of a book that I’ve listened to so we’ll see. With that, and extra, I know, I’m wordy, and I apologize here and now. *hangs head* But with that said, No. Dying. *glares at all* Or else I’ll send my elves to gather up your rough drafts and publish them online for all to see so that you’ll die a second time of embarrassment . *glances at @bluejay * Thank you, Doctor. *nods*
Another thing! Has anyone read “Children of Hurin”? I have some friends who are going to loan it to me sometime soon and was wondering what y’all’s thoughts on it were? But maybe I should ask that after I read it… XD.
August 29, 2016 at 7:17 pm #16412Don’t read it. My sister read and she said it was good til halfway through. Tolkien died while he was writing it so his son finished it and some questionable things happened.

Kapeefer til we're old and greyDecember 7, 2016 at 11:53 am #22417Cry, The Beloved Country.
This book ties with Ben Hur for me, taking third place as my favorite books ever. This book masters theme better than any book I’ve ever read and it is a Christian novel. It’s also the most famous novel from South Africa ever. This is not a novel with high emotion, but you might very well search all your life and never find a book with more heart to it.

December 7, 2016 at 11:57 am #22418Wow @Daeus, that’s a high recommendation. Who wrote it?
December 7, 2016 at 11:59 am #22419@kate-flournoy That’s because it deserves it.
Alan Paton wrote it. All I know is that he was a South African pastor.

December 7, 2016 at 12:00 pm #22420Oh, yes. And you should read. Just a slight recommendation.

December 7, 2016 at 12:37 pm #22425Oh ha what no really? 😛 Yes, that was a given @Daeus. I might just do that. *deliberately avoids looking at messy calendar* I found two of my favoritest books ever on recommendation from you, so… 😉
December 7, 2016 at 8:17 pm #22443@Daeus Is it historical fiction?
December 7, 2016 at 8:19 pm #22444@Emma-Flournoy shhhh, we’re writing. XD
December 7, 2016 at 8:39 pm #22447@Kate-Flournoy Ooh! Okay I’m requiring no immediate answer. By all means, I implore you, keep writing.
December 7, 2016 at 9:02 pm #22449@emma-flournoy Yes, basically, though I believe it was written in the same time period as the author lived in. It’s a pretty recent novel. I’m not sure, but I think early 1900s, or maybe mid. It takes place in South Africa.

December 7, 2016 at 9:48 pm #22459@Daeus Gotcha. D’you think we could find it in a small town library; is it well enough known?
December 7, 2016 at 9:53 pm #22461There’s a good chance. It’s a classic. Are you not part of the Columbus library system? Are you dying? Do you need help?

December 8, 2016 at 1:41 pm #22471@Daeus I think the library closest to us is part of the Logan library system…I don’t think the Logan library is part of the Columbus system. I’ll see if I can look it up.
I might just be needing help if I can’t find and read such a thematically rich book though. 😛
