Marcel —- Edge of Deepwild
Marcel didn’t think long about the questions the girl asked, since every one of them confused and irked him. He still felt half asleep, wisps of color blowing out from behind him and waving at the night sky. He met all of their eyes and backed up, so the four people stood in a circle. “Listen. I’m used to waking up in surprising places, okay? Let out a deep breath, and forget whatever you were doing before.”
He breathed in and out, and his gaze became distant.
“Everything is a mountain”
Where is the line between a chord and just playing more than one note at a time? How does this change the Strings?

Eh, it is a bit vague, but what I’ve sort have been imagining is that a Voice has to be a melody line of some sort to generate a String. The individual movement of the music is what allows the String to move, and the notes of a chord are kind of locked together in a way that doesn’t allow that. It makes sense in my head, but maybe it doesn’t actually make much make sense! My music experience comes from piano and some music theory classes. I have a little experience trying to write for other instruments, but I don’t necessarily understand how people who play those instruments think differently about music.

📚 Appreciator of BooksI think it makes sense? lol. Yeah, I get what you mean. If that’s the case, harp—which is similar to piano, in my understanding—could have the potential to have many voices but a lot of times is used to play chords (at least, with the left hand.) Same with guitar. Violin, two strings aren’t normally played but it isn’t uncommon. Lots of times, though, those two strings will be a chord. So I guess all of those instruments could have the potential to have many voices if they are used for that purpose.

Yeah, more melodies on extra strings would just take more skill practice and concentration. That’s a great limit to the magic system because it would require study.

“Sure, that’s what happened.” Flare rolled his reptile eyes. “I’m Flare. Hope you liked my song.” He smiled a goofy reptile smile.
Ben looked at grey hair. “Why were you mad?” Ben was more cautious, he put one hand on a sword. “I only ask because I didn’t intend to make you mad, and I don’t think I did. But I want to help avenge you.”

Felicity — Edge of the Deepwild
Felicity was reminded of her uncle when he would try to calm her down when she was upset at home. She took a deep breath.
The boy’s comment about forgetting had the opposite effect, though. The sound of squeaking gears and the smell of burning ink and machine oil surfaced in her memory. A shocked voice calling her name.
“I need to find my friends,” she decided suddenly. “I’m going to the city.”
“Nothing says autumn like slurpin’ apples.” -my uncle

Reflecting off of the daggar, Brutus’s gaze flicked to Ben. “I thought you were an assassin.” He tilted the blade again, this time back to Leon. “I thought you were someone I know. That’s all it was.”

The three strangers began walking together towards the inevitable lights in the distance. Marcel strode alongside in the grass border by the roadside. The rippling wind seemed to carry him of its own accord, and it was like he observed the travellers instead of walking with them.
“What are your names?” he asked.
“Everything is a mountain”
Klethen – Elderstrand
Klethen started slightly when a voice called out to him, asking if he could tell them where they were. He looked around and saw a figure standing a few rooftops away. It was too dark to see much but he could tell it was a woman by the voice.
“No, I came here by accident, and you’re the first person I’ve seen.” He called back to her, “I was hoping to find someone who could tell me the same thing.”
Shouting back and forth across several rooftops did not seem like the ideal form of communication. He made another portal, taking care that it would open where he wanted it to, and carefully climbed through. He was somewhat relieved to see that he was on the same rooftop as the woman.
Up close, he could see she had red hair down to her shoulders and wore large glass circles over her eyes. Klethen remembered they were called glasses, though he had never seen someone wear them before. He privately thought they looked slightly ridiculous.
“What is your name, Miss?” He asked, giving a short bow.
Any noun can become a verb if you don't care enough.

Ah yes, sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner about her journal! I should’ve clarified. She can only really do realistic things, like say she gets an item, or can make someone forget. She CANNOT alternate time and space or other people. The only thing she CAN do to other people is make them forget. That is it. SO basically what I meant was she just can make items appears. But only really simple tools. (Oh and the forget thing I will never use, unless it is my charrie!)
