Julian would have shrugged and walked away by now, but Leon used to be that frustrating character, and now he’s trying to do the only thing that was done to him that pulled him out of that downward spin.
All I can say without giving anything away is…Leon, you are trying to undertake an interesting effort that may or not be what you think it is.

Ilahna —– (Border between Deepwild and Elderstrand)
Finally, Ilahna found the edge of the forest. Unfortunately, it was marked by a high wall. She stopped humming and let her Strings collapse. She looked up, examining the wall. It was about 50 feet high. She could probably make it.
She began a new melody, manifesting all four of her Strings once more, then used them to lift herself off the ground. Slowly, she floated higher, outlined with an aura of color. She tried not to glance down. She knew she could do this in theory. To actually do it was still terrifying. As she reached the top of the wall, she reached out and pulled herself in. She dropped to her knees atop the wall, panting hard.
After a moment, she brushed the sweat from her brow, stood up and brushed herself off. A large city stretched out before her, and it looked utterly unfamiliar. She noticed a figure on one of the roofs a little bit ahead. That seemed a bit odd.
Ilahna glanced down. It was a long way to the ground. But levitating horizontally was much easier than levitating vertically.
Starting up her tune again, she stepped off the wall and began to float forward.
A short way before the roof she was aiming for, she dropped down, feeling too unsteady to make it all the way there. This was close enough.
“Hello?” she called tentatively. “Can you tell me where I am?”

Rosemary and Jirah.
Jirah stopped running up the wall and slowly lowered Rosemary to the ground before jumping off himself. “Uh, hey… Thanks for saving us and all, but please don’t tell anyone what we were doing!” Jirah told Rina. “Do not worry on bit Jirah. I can help.” Rosemary began writing the word forget, but Jirah quickly stopped her. “What are you doing! We promised not to bing harm to anyone here!” Jirah grabbed the book out of her and. “That wouldn’t bring harm to her! She would forget this night, and nothing bad would happen!” Rosemary snatched the book back. “Besides, YOU are not allowed to touch my book, BROTHER!” Jirah and Rosemary started arguing so much that they forgot all about Rina.
(Thats right, early plot twist. They are SIBLINGS! So even though Rosemary in my WIP hates the royal family, she was once part of it!)

This is flying fast. I thought I might’ve had time to RP, but I am going to a church retreat today and won’t be back until Sunday so… I will NOT have time I guess. When I get back I’ll try and read through the novel I’m expecting to come back to and see if I can jump in. 😂

The fog finally cleared from Felicity’s mind and she spun around, trying to look for a clue to explain where she was.
“Yeah… really far.”
“Who’s there?” A voice called from the nearby trees.
“Friends! Not robbers or anything,” she responded, before glancing suspiciously at her two companions. “…Hopefully. We’re just a bit lost.”

Rosemary quickly turned towards Rina “What do you mean ‘where is here?’ How do you not know where you are? Are you DRUNK?!” She said in an annoyed tone. “We are in Latternking how do you not know that.” Jirah piped in.
“We were sent here to form an alliance with this kingdom, come to think of it… These structures don’t look like a building found in the kingdom Latternking” Rosemary said. “You don’t have to tell her that!” Jirah yelled sharply. “That is it! I am going to find a tavern to stay for the night, and I pray to the Creator I am more of a peaceful person in the morning!” Rosemary stormed off angrily.

@jonas By the way, I also love the magic that Ilahna has. Super creative. And yes, violins can usually only play two strings at once, but it is slightly harder than playing one. You can play a brief chord on 2+ strings but it is staggered… if that makes sense, meaning you will technically only be playing two strings at one time. Idk if that makes sense or if you wanted that input lol.

Yeah, I don’t know violin very well, but I have heard that. (I’ve also heard it can do three but that it would be even harder.) However, Ilahna actually hasn’t used her violin yet. As a quirk of the magic system, she literally has more than one voice, so she’s actually singing four parts at once. The exact number of Voices varies per person (most don’t have any extra) So, if she wanted even more Strings, she would use the violin in addition.
I actually had to do some research to figure out what instruments would be most ideal for this. Violin seems pretty good considering that it’s portable and can theoretically do more than one voice at a time. Then you have wind instruments, which are bad, since you’d be sacrificing vocals for a single instrumental voice (at least, as far as I know they only can do one.) Then you have pianos, which are very non-portable but can easily do a lot. So, there’s a lot of interesting balancing going on.

📚 Appreciator of BooksYeah, three strings would be interesting. I think violin is a good option, but something similar to a guitar or small harp would be even better.

I don’t know much about harps, although from what I understand, they seem like the closest thing to a piano in the string family, so, yeah, they should be pretty good. Guitars are good at chords, which since they consist of multiple notes should technically mean that it manifests multiple Strings, but I may want to treat chords a bit differently since they still kind of act as a single unit. So, a guitar might only make one String, but it would probably have a bit more power in it since it is technically multiple notes in each chord. (You can already merge Strings together to make them stronger, so I might just have chords automatically do that.)
