      Okay, so I have this idea that I have been working on for a while. Basically its that what if Rumplestilkin gave the queen his name because he was working for Gothel and didn’t want to give her the baby. Then Gothel went in and kidnapped the child herself so when when Rumple found out (2 years later) he kidnapped her again to return her but he couldn’t because the royal family had all ben put under a sleeping curse. So for the next 17 years Rumple raised the child himself.

      Basically the family wakes up after 17 years and immediately puts out a warrant for Rumple and arrests him. The (now 19) girl that was raised by him sets on a journey to prove his innocence.

      I want to incorporate a ton a different fairytales on the journey. so what are some fairytales y’all would like to see in a new light?

        Introducing, the queen of retellings…@seekjustice!!! 😛 I’m sure she’ll have lots of ideas for you 😉

        As for me, I can’t say I’ve read a lot of fairytales, so I don’t think I have any suggestions for your retelling. I’ll let you know if I do though! 😀

                @alia  *screams “ALL OF THEM”*

                *calms down slightly*

                I love fairytales!!!! Something you could do to research would be finding some older books with the original fairy tales in them- you know, like in the original Cinderella, I think the stepsisters cut their feet off to fit in the shoe. You can find some obscure fairy tales (or even greek myths?) and make references to them and work in history and their genealogies and such.

                So I think a cool one to incorporate would be the goose that lays golden eggs, but instead of the egg being solid gold, something surprising hatches out of it- like a shapeshifting bird…

                Wow. I am having a lot of fun thinking about this. Maybe I need to write a fairy tale retelling!

                  The queen has arrived.

                  ( @jenwriter17 you shouldn’t say such things, I’m arrogant enough as it is)

                  First of all, I love this idea!! But…I’m thinking it probably doesn’t need many more fairy tales, or else its going to end up pretty confused. Having said that, the princess could go on her quest and she could…come across some scenes from popular fairy tales?

                  Let me think for a moment.

                  Like, on her journey she could meet an evil dwarf and a bear (from Snow White and Rose Red) and the bear could join her journey and eventually be saved by her and become a prince again and they could fall in love. Or she could… I don’t know, I won’t come up with all your plot. But do you get what I’m saying?

                  There’s definitely a whole lot of fairy tales that deserve more attention, I’d suggest getting a book of Grimms fairytales and reading through it (some of them are truly disturbing, but some are quite interesting!)

                    @alia Actually, there’s a kids series called the Sisters Grimm, which I read years and years ago, not the greatest, but they did a really good job blending a whole bunch of fairy tales. What about the Lunar Chronicles? Have you read those? They’re another really good collection of retellings that might help you a bit!

                      @alia I would totally read that! I can’t think of any retellings that I want to see in a new light off the top of my head, but there is this book series called the Wide-Awake Princess by E.D. Baker that incorporates a bunch of fairy tales in it.

                      The Lunar Chronicles! *Squeals* I love that series!

                        Literally the best YA series ever! (Not that I’ve read much YA…)

                          @kaya-young…all of them??? I would like to finish this book before I die…

                          @princessfoo
                          , I’ll have to look up that series, maybe grab an idea of two

                          @seekjustice
                          , I just finished the Sisters Grimm series. I love Lunar Chronicles! Especially Thorne and Kai. (And Iko of course) One idea I had was to make the the MC meet 7 sisters who have to marry but can’t leave the house. And that would become the 7 dancing princesses/Cinderella.

                            @kaya-young, I would definitely prefer the stories to be based off the originals than the new ones. (Sorry Disney, you obviously got them sooooo correct)

                                  @alia Well, why did she kidnap the princess in the first place? Was she the one who put the sleeping spell on the royal family?
