      Hey, so we don’t have 1 of these and I just ran into an editing problem y’all can probably help me with.

      1st off here’s the section I’m working on so you know what I’m talking about:

      I just met 2 kids, Jamie and Kelly. They seem nice. They’re 12 and almost 11. I should probably get some dinner now. I don’t feel quite as queasy. Bye for now!

      Are the numbers ok the way they are or should any be written out. This is a journal entry btw.

        This can also be for research questions. Anything you might need help with that doesn’t have a thread we’re currently using.

          @sarafini Great idea for a topic! πŸ˜‰

          In my own opinion and personal experience, numbers are usually spelled out in fiction. I’m not sure if it would be different because it’s a journal entry or not, having never really written or read many books that have journal entries.

          Someone else might be more suited for helping you figure out that part of it πŸ˜…

            I agree with Freedom. Most times, in fiction, it’s spelled out. However, in something like a journal entry… I think it was that if it’s more than three syllables, you should spell it out, otherwise it’s fine. And if there’s a number with more syllables than that, and another in the same sentence has one or two, then spell both out. I think it should be fine if you stick with one or the other, though. πŸ™‚

              Good to know. I’m going to assume then that journal entries are fine. I always write the number and don’t spell it out in my own journal entries. Lol I’ve been told that numbers over 10 are fine no matter what. Lol. I have no idea if that’s true or not but I’m going with it. Lol

                Normally I’d say spell numbers out, but in the case of something actually written like a journal entry, write it how you think your character would. Would they be more concise and write it out? Or just write the number itself?

                  I love that! I think that’s the best number advice I’ve received besides write out numbers lower than 10.

                  Oh and btw, I liked your advice @kyronthearcanin and @freedomwriter76 This advice just helps me so much. πŸ˜‰
