Once upon a night, two brothers lived in harmony.
The eldest; kind, with a sense of humor, and fond of all that lived, and the youngest, a ball of life, making the world his stage; wanting for attention.
Until attention was all he wanted.
Early in his life, younger became jealous of the eldest; how he seemed to naturally pull people to him. How his nature attracted everyone around.
He was the star.
He was the bright light in his parent’s eyes.
But his brother, the eldest, was their pride…
And he grew to despise him for it.
As the brothers grew, they set out from their home, traveling together, wishing to change the world.
And change it they did.
Performing from town to town, the two built a grand showcase of their talents, with the youngest leading from the forefront, and the eldest recruiting a menagerie of creatures to join in their show.
Eventually, their show grew, and they had a volley of races and people traveling with them. A mini town, if you would.
A people of rejects and runaways. A circus.
A home away from home for the outcasts. A place to escape.
The eldest was thrilled, happy to have done exactly what he’d set out to do; make a change.
And the youngest?
He was happy as well.
Happy leading from the front.
Happy being the Star.
Until he wanted more.
See, his elder brother was still the favorite amongst the folks. Whereas the younger seemed to have to work and act, and show-off, his brother had a way of just…so easily reaching people.
And oh…how he hated it.
How he hated him.
And how people flocked to him.
And slowly, his anger began to broil and rage into a deep bitterness.
As their group and show began to grow larger and larger, the brothers decided that they could no longer keep moving from place to place.
And an idea came to life.
An idea like never before.
They would make their little town a true kingdom.
They would found a land.
A place for every runaway. Every outcast. A safe place.
The eldest loved the idea of a safe place for those who felt unsafe, and the youngest saw it as an opportunity.
An opportunity for power.
And slowly, the land of Cirque was born.
The two brothers led it side by side. Younger at the front, and eldest in the background, as it had always been.
Things didn’t change much. Only landscape wise.
They built a town. A neon-circus world. A place where those from the outside could sail in and watch their people perform, and those who wished to escape could live and become a “Cirquian” themself.
And then the tourists would return home in their ships, and all was fairly the same.
But the youngest brother’s bitterness continued to burn against his brother, and his want to be more then just a mere “standby leader” or a “guide to those who come” kept festering.
Until it all came to a head…..
CIRQUE’S HISTORY PART 1!!!
THE SUSPENSE!!’ So…what ya think so far? Part 2 coming now!! But wanted to see what ya firstborn plus suspense 😂 also gotta get Cirque’s history down for u to understand Lyn’s backstory cuz it is all tied up into Cirque’s backstory.
