August 11, 2023 at 11:54 pm #153755@elanor 🤗🤗 So many times I have wished someone was there in my pain, knowing my struggle, or just there. Awake in the middle of the night when I have a heartache or pains that meds can’t kick in fast enough to ease. Someone to pray over me. Someone to remind me of Jesus’ words.
Then the Lord often pops a song or Scripture in my head about Him being there. I’d love for a network of friends at all times of day or night invested in one another’s lives so much that the details and emotions of each moment are carried together and slathered in prayer. But then God proves that He is my closest friend. He knows. He carries it. He is there with me. He’s got it. Hard, challenging, smoldering, victorious, resurrected, rescued, Kingdom. The good King cares about His subjects.
🤗🤗Hugs from a distance, my friend I have never met. Thanks for sharing your poem. 🤗🤗
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Matthew 11:28-29“…learn from Me…” What did Jesus do when He was weary? Stole away alone to pray to the Father. And… also slept on a boat. ⛵🤭 Jesus was fully God and emptied to also be fully man. He rested. Yeah, His life is our example.
Praise be to the Lord our Rock!

August 19, 2023 at 11:32 am #154263People have Real Problems
People have real problems
My tainted mind isn’t scarred
I have full use of legs and arms
I can walk unafraid in night’s dark
No past life has left its ghastly mark
These bruises are because I simply work hard
I carry a trustful countenance unmarred
Two parents still lovingly together
Who raised my 10 sibs to love each other
A car that works, a job for the bills
Food for a week and a closet filled
People have real problems
Nothing I have or don’t is worth my complaint
Little ills, challenges, and spills needn’t make me faint.
Good grief!
People have real problems!
Lord, would You please afix my attitude
To respond to life with unfeigned gratitude
And grant me graceful eyes to view Those with the biggest problem: not knowing You
Make me, like You, not deaf to
People dealing with all sorts of things
Instead let me be a listening refuge,
A depot for the peace You bring
Continue, Lord; I’ve seen You in this way work
Grant me Thy reach to those out in the murk
Not my care, but Yours be seen
And take my foolish eyes wisely off of me
People have real problems.

August 24, 2023 at 6:00 am #154547Awh, thanks @acancello, thanks @elanor!
God is so wonderful! 🙃 One of my big favorite sections at work got permanently assigned to another person and I was reassigned to another section with seemingly less responsibility where, supposedly, I can learn more. My mind was emotional about it most of the day, especially since most of my work was still over in my old beloved section, then God reminded me, “Daughter, remember the poem you wrote for Kingdom Pen?” Yeah… Some people have real problems. 🙃 When I wrote that poem I didn’t understand why it came so easily. Haha, now I do. 🙃 One lunch break I wrote another poem (coming soon) about idols and said my goodbyes to my section and my will in surrender. God’s will be done.

“My God is not an idol
And idols shan’t be my King
This devastated heart of mine
Ah! I’m such a broken thing!
Silly poetess, concern thyself and pen
With worthy poems composed of praise for Him
This idle care you’ve never thus rhymed
But its ties must’ve cased your heart
I know it so because now it’s gone
And you grieve as though is smarts
Your selfish flesh cries over its grave
Yet your Christian side praises God it’s away
A new space is made
For the work of the Lord
New dragons to slay
New growth to occur
Ah, silly poetess, weep not for loss ‘unfair’
But open your eyes to the Lord at work while there
This new adventure you slog to set
May just be the best one yet.”August 25, 2023 at 4:46 pm #154733I love it. 💕

January 15, 2024 at 10:14 pm #173152Once upon a time… a long time ago… there were some poets…
I’m bringing it back! Please, if you’ve been here from the beginning of this post or are just scrolling and are like, “Oh, hey! Poems!” please add your poems! I love reading all y’all’s!
(Here’s one I wrote tonight)
How deep the love lavished on us,
Deep like thick white snow
Mercy ascends to us in flakes
And treks onward to piles to belowThe laden storehouse has more to give
To blanket earthen sod
Like grace enough for the wretch like me
Abounds from the heart of God.January 16, 2024 at 4:46 pm #173250Hi!!! We haven’t talked in forever, how are you doing? Love the poem, your really good at describing. I haven’t written any much, just editing my novel… but I have had a few ideas.

Allison! Hi!! Awh, life is good and God is greater! I am so thankful to be alive! I was super blessed with two trips to Colorado this year, once in July (the reason I disappeared from KP) to speak at a conference and again in December to attend a year end Winter Retreat conference with my college gang.
At Winter Retreat I was able to go off by myself in the beauty of the mountains and pray. I feel like I was able to seek God with all my heart of there, because I tasted of the fullness of joy that is in His presence and was filled with inspiration and I think I know what I’m going to do for the rest of my life!! It’s not an earth shattering, career upending, drastic epiphany that drastically changes my life not even a specific action point. But Jesus called me to surrender to Him in all that I do. Which may look like upending a career, having drastic changes, and maybe shattering the earth. But that… is not my concern. Mine is to step by step unwavering surrender.First is 90 days of partner accountability in “Deuteronomy6:5” with loving the Lord with all my mind by cutting down distractions like social media (5min daily if at all and only to post to the glory of God), with all my soul by daily 10 minutes of prayer, and with all my strength by daily 20 minutes of additional exercise and packing lunches thoughtfully and nutritionally. After the 90 days, we’ll see what God says, but I’ll probably start up my YouTube channel video posting, rededicating it to Christ. And being faithful with my blog.
Ooh, and at Winter Retreat I wrote some more poems! But, I’ve posted the last few poems, so someone else has to post theirs next before you get to see my new ones. 😁
And how have you [you all] been? Whatcha been up to?
January 17, 2024 at 4:47 pm #173424Janelle!! That is so amazing that you got to experience all of that!! I’m so happy for you!
(And please share more! I love to read yours so much. I have kind of taken a break from poetry and are working on my novel.)
I have mainly been editing my novel since I have finally finished it! And we have been getting involved with more activities in our Christian home school co-cop which is really amazing. Been making a few friends and actually have considered getting a job to. Not to much else has been happening.
It’s great to hear from you again!😊

January 17, 2024 at 9:41 pm #173462Thank you for reviving this Janelle. Here’s one of my most recent ones:
Another year has begun
And with it a new rising sun
Surveying the year I’ve left
Things I felt. Saw. Places went.
Flying by like a jet plane
Flowing by in a mere moment
A year of mountains and valleys
If meadows and dark gulleys
Of pruning and growth
Of brokenness and health
Standing by my King’s instructions
As I make my way down His path
Undoubtedly it was more than I could take
Yet I was given a strength that doesn’t shake
Despite depression’s dark clouds circling
I discovered joy’s light all conquering
It is most assuredly not fake
And gives hope through each new thing
At times simply existing
At other times flourishing
Periods of great heaviness
But also ones of joyful lightness
Sometimes with lungs constricting
Other times breathes of air filled with freshness
New things. Old things.
Past and present memories.
I pray that if nothing else
I will not stay stuck in this place
I’ll move onward learning from my mistakes
The future is something to embrace.
