December 23, 2023 at 9:22 am #170863HA! Yes, it worked!!! Okay y’all! Announcement time!!!
I am running an anthology. Don’t know what that is, well, I’ll explain:
In the book publishing world, an anthology is a collection of literary works; it may be a collection of plays, poems, short stories, songs, or excerpts from different authors! Anthologies are a wonderful substitute for getting your story out into the world but not having to cover the cost, marketing, or formatting!
In other words, you write the story – we publish it as a collection with other stories from other writers just like you! 🙂
So without further ado, welcome to Divereged in a Wood anthology!!
Sign-ups opened December 21st, 2023, but there are still plenty of slots open for writers!!! You can find it here. Upon signing up, we will briefly read over your bio and get back to you in a few days. If you are accepted into the anthology, you will then receive an email containing the rules, when and where to submit your story once you are finished, and any other follow-ups (inspiration: ie – quotes, pictures, songs, bible verses).
Submissions for the anthology will be open from January 9th, 2024 – May 9th, 2024; giving writers four months to complete their stories and send them in.
You may submit more than one story. However, come selection, only one story per author will be chosen for the anthology.
Your submission MUST have a theme that coincides with a forest or woodsy aesthetic.
We ask that each story be 2,000 to 7,000 words (unless, it is necessary to the story, then, you may exceed the word count).
Our current accepted genres include:
> mystery  > historical > non-fiction > comedy > Sci-Fi > fantasy. What we do not accept:Â
> pro-abortion content
> witchcraft or magic or wizardry
> excessive horror
> excessive gore
> zombie, vampire, werewolf, unicorn, elves, or any other mythical creatures
> marvel retellings. What we might consider:
> dragon or biblically accurate megalodon-esc storiesYou can find the full list of rules here.

LEFSE FOREVER!!!!!! <333December 23, 2023 at 11:33 am #170881This looks amazingly! I would love to join in, although…
My writing isn’t the very great yet, (but my sister who is reading over my shoulder just said it wasn’t bad either). I do write clean, the prose is just bumpy. I’d love to try though.

Fork the GorkDecember 23, 2023 at 6:00 pm #170909@koshka You should!!! Everyone’s writing is different and we all need growth – which is one of the main reasons this anthology exists! Is to bring writers an opportunity to grow!

December 23, 2023 at 6:02 pm #170910Awesome! I’m technically already in an anthology that I’m not sure I’ll have finished in time, so I don’t think I should sign up for another yet… I would be interested to read it once it’s done, though! And I’ll let you know if I change my mind. 🙂
