@rochellaine 😀 😀 XD He does. He’s already come up with commentary to expound upon it. “It is possible, with dignity, to sweep a carpet. It is possible to trade with coins. But there is no dignified way to melt a chair but by the flames of a dragon.”

Wow 😀 That is a long one, yourself. XD I have read the Cat in the Hat! And it’s one of my favorite children’s books.

XD That is… I can’t even… that is epic XD 😀   *rolls on the floor laughing*

Thing One gets brown hair XD… that would make a perfect Seuss plot, actually. Imagine illustrations of Thing One and Thing Two prancing through the halls with pots of blue dye meant for JJ…. XD

And the boy painting in the book! That is totally something a kid might do XD XD XD

      *Giarstanornarak tries to melt chair*
Also, Daeus has 22 turtles in his signature.

@rochellaine …….well……here it is……my, uh, Octopus Ball poem. *hides face* This is the very first time I’ve written a poem. very. first. Don’t expect much. I probably broke some rules and maybe it all didn’t rhyme right either…….but…..here it is:

          The Octopus Ball

A strange thing happened to me

          on the 23rd of January.

I was at the market with my son

having lots and lots of fun.

He tossed the veggies into my cart

and I bought him a candy shaped like a heart.

Leaving the store we walked arm in arm

until I stopped and stared with alarm.

A poster hung on a telephone pole

and from the weather was beginning to roll.

          “Octopus Ball” I read aloud

and the sun was covered with a cloud.

“What an odd thing! How can it be true?”

The picture showed octopi; red, green and blue.

All dressed in their suits and ball gowns too.

It looked quite fancy and froo-froo.

Despite little Charlie pulling on my arm

I stayed to stare at the octopus’ apparent charm.

What would an octopus ball look like?

Why, all their long tentacles would give me a fright!

But I had to see this so-called ball.

So I hid my groceries by the store’s wall.

“Tonight,” the poster said would be the grand event

and to pick up my son I bent.

I carried him to the ally by the dance hall

where the poster said would be the location of the ball.

Soon the sun began to set,

but little Charlie was beginning to fret.

“Mommy, let’s go,” he said with a whine.

          “Now, child, it’s almost time!”

I pointed with wide eyes at the sight before me.

There they were! Maybe twenty or thirty!

All dressed in their best for the octopus ball.

None of them saw me, not one at all.

I stared with amazement as they came near,

but I was beginning to feel quite queer.

Their looks! Oh, the ghastly sight!

Quite different from me, like day and night!

My head felt light and my stomach churned

and to my son I turned.

But before I could utter one thing

to the ground I did fling.

Why, I’d fainted, yes I did.

And that was last I saw of those disgusting squid.

*grimaces* my apologies if you’re cringing right now.

I guess I have to tag someone. I’ll tag @ingridrd (you wanted to be tagged right? lemme know if u don’t) You’re subject is a narwhal fight. 😉

@rochellaine All right, here’s my poem (which also turned into a history of ice cream 😉 )

                Snow Makes Me Hungry

Our story starts up north, with an unlikely couple:

a traveler named Tredan and his camel named Uncle.

They came from Rome and were journeying through Norway.

They felt quite out of place in a land always wintry.

One morning as the sun made Tredan wake,

he looked out and saw what he thought were sand dunes.

But as the sky brightened and the wind picked up tune,

he realized he was looking at hills of snowflakes!

Later that day when the companions set out,

Tredan looked around for an apple or trout,

anything to satisfy his growing appetite,

but the trees were all empty and the lake was all ice.

“Confound it,” he said, in a very bad mood,

“I really could use a small bite of food.

Why can’t it be nice and warm and sunny?

I just can’t stand it, this snow makes me hungry!”

Uncle, the camel, gave Tredan a glance,

then continued on in a happy prance.

                He wouldn’t be hungry for another whole week;

by then they would be up and over the next mountain peak.

Well, they trekked on, one happy, one mad,

with not so much as one bite to be had.

Before long they found a small village or town

at the bottom of the valley they had come down.

There were several small huts, all sending up smoke,

and the doors were all shut up against the cold.

Tredan marched up to the first one he saw

and pounded upon it, then began to call.

A man hobbled over and opened the door

before our dear Tredan could yell any more.

He said, “Why don’t you come in out of the cold?

Standing outside can get very old.”

Tredan at first began to respond,

but then a smell called to him like a burst from a wand.

He peeked in the hut and wide went his eyes,

for there sat a feast on a table ten feet wide!

The door was burst open, the man was mowed down,

as Tredan ran inside of the hut in the town.

He rushed and he grabbed a bowl and a spoon,

and scooped up a bunch of a lightcolored stew.

However, when he sat down and poked at the stuff,

he noticed it was made of some kind of fluff.

Curious, he touched it with his little finger,

and it was colder than a polar bear’s ear!

                Realization dawned upon the bloke.

He turned and stared at the hospitable folk.

He asked, “What kind of madness, I really don’t know,

would make you want to eat horrid snow?”

(For that was what was in the bowl.)

“I walked through the stuff coming down here

and it ruined my precious sense of good cheer.

Snow, it’s just terrible, putrid, and raunchy.

I can’t stand it. This snow makes me hungry!”

After a small pause of two seconds and a half,

there started a chuckle, which soon was a laugh.

The hut’s family roared in hilarious delight

at the poor Tredan’s pitiful plight.

When the laughter was over and the noise died down,

the family noticed Tredan’s large frown.

“We’re sorry,” they said, “but you don’t have to mope.

It’s just that you’ve fallen into our biggest joke!

“Whenever travelers come to our wintry home,

we make sure to treat them to this concoction of our own.

To give someone ice, that would be quite mean.

But this isn’t ice! We call it ice cream.”

                Now driven by his curiosity,

Tredan drove his spoon into this “ice cream.”

At first it froze his mouth, but then the flavor hit.

It tasted like clouds. He licked his lips.

This flavor was new and refreshing airy.

And then, with the next spoon, he tasted raspberry.

The combo exploded in young Tredan’s skull,

and before he noticed he had finished the bowl.

Of course he asked for more over and again,

and the family just laughed and gave it to him.

From that moment on, Tredan knew that ice cream

would forever fill his sweet summer dreams.

When Tredan and Uncle finished their original quest

(What it was, history has seemed to forget),

They returned to their homelands in good old Rome

and served ice cream everywhere, even the emperor’s throne.

That was how ice cream became popular—

through the adventures of a camel and a Roman traveler.

                For, as everyone probably knows,

Rome at one point ruled most of the world.

And what was the one thing the Romans adored?

A bowl full of ice cream after a battle or war.

@jenwriter17 Haha!  And I’m not a bit ashamed!  Being hooked on writing poems is not a bad thing…unless you accidentally reveal to a logical, unimaginative person this strange topic and let him read the poems, and he looks at you like you came from another planet before stalking out of the room.

(No, I didn’t do that.  I don’t know anyone like that, and am glad I don’t!  That was just an assumption of what might happen to us eventually if we keep up this utter nonsense.)

I’ll bet he did!  Go Charlie! 😀 😀 😀  (You just put an amazing picture in my head of a little blonde boy of about five or six shaking and jumping in the middle of a room filled with the long legs of octopi which are wrapping around him and squirming about.  I don’t know if that’s actually a cool picture or a horrific one…But I’ll go with cool.)
