@daeus have you read Storming, K.M. Weilands new book? The hook in that one is awesome too. Well, the whole book is awesome, but the book’s second sentence is pretty attention grabbing.

@winter-rose Ohh, yes. The second Wingfeather Saga book hook (no rhyme intended) wasn’t terrific.

I read the first book in the second series, and, while it was good, it just wasn’t Percy Jackson. I also felt like some of the action was–how do I say this–kind of…forced, if that makes sense?

Also, since Riordan isn’t a Christian, the lifestyle and morals of minor or side characters aren’t always what I’d prefer.

Yeah, so I’ve heard. That’s why I haven’t read the series up until now. Do you think it’s still worth reading?

@gretald There’s lots of new characters in the second series. Percy is one of seven characters, so he’s in it (starting with the next book) but not as much. As to are they worth reading…I’m glad I read them once, and they are funny and well written, but I’ll probably not read them again mainly because they’re so long.

I think…I don’t know. They’re fine to read in that, even though there implications of various characters’ morality, no one is ever shown doing anything. Still, as a Christian, I don’t think I’d go around recommending them. At the same time, they’re not awful and if you like the characters and the writing, and are willing to ignore an inference now and then (there really isn’t anything until book 3) then they’re worth reading. That being said, I own the first series but wouldn’t buy the second series…

Someone should start a topic on this. How much, if anything, ought one to read where things that are wrong are treated as if they’re perfectly fine. Hmm, maybe I’ll start a topic later. Or someone else could…

INTJ - Inhumane. No-feelings. Terrible. Judgment and doom on everyone.

@Hope Yes, we should start a topic on this! Problem is, I’m leaving for Tennessee and staying all of next week, so I won’t be able to participate much.
