Hello everyone!!
So I had a fun idea and wanted to see if y’all would like to join me in it.
The basic idea is this: If your characters celebrated Christmas, what would that look like?
I know we all have characters from all kinds of stories, settings, and worlds, so just stretch your imagination. 😉 You could write a short story, as short as a sentence or as long as 5k words. It really doesn’t matter. And the story doesn’t have to take place on Christmas either. It could just be during the holiday season.
I’ll get to writing a few stories sometime this week. (Hopefully XD)
Oh and btw, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a story. It could be a quote, a picture, a song, an aesthetic/moodboard, or… anything! Plus, it doesn’t have to be Christmas either. It could be just in the winter or any of the holidays around this time. Whatever you want to do!
Can’t wait to see what y’all come up with!
Oh, and a few prompts to get your mind turning: (you don’t necessarily have to use these. They’re just ideas.)
If your characters celebrated Christmas, would they…
- Have any family traditions?
- Have Christmas parties with friends (or enemies)?
- Look at the holidays in a joyous, excited way, or loath/dread them?
- Buy everybody gifts, not buy anybody gifts at all, or only give a gift to a special someone?
- Play in the snow? (Snowball fights anyone?)
- Go to the beach? (Or any vacation.)
- Try a winter sport for the first time?

"EVERYTHING IS AWESOME..."This is a cool idea! This time of year I feel like I always want to write about my characters celebrating Christmas and then it’s really hard to put those scenes into words. I do have a few already, however. I might drop them in here, or use the prompts to help create new ones.

Okkk! I finally wrote a short story for this! In this one Ev and Ami are married (so years after their actual story. And they have kids 😱). It was inspired by the song “Mistletoe” by Tenth Avenue North. (The song is actually kind of funny (and clean) y’all should listen to it. XD) This is a “first draft” if you will, so I haven’t edited it at all. It’s a little rough, but here it is anyway! Lol XD Enjoy!

Ev glanced at his watch, then the clock. He sighed and let his body melt into the cushions of the recliner. It was already half past eight and she still wasn’t here.
“What are you doing by yourself over here?”
Ev groaned. “Ami isn’t here yet.”
Lukas rolled his eyes. “I didn’t know someone could get love sick so fast. When did you last see her?”
“This morning before I left for work. She said she’d be here when the party started. It’s been two and a half hours.” He raised his eyebrows and met Lukas’s eyes.
Lukas laughed. “Dude, relax.”
“Is it wrong to want to see my wife?”
“Of course not.”
“Yeah. You’ll understand once you’re married.”
Silence.
“Which will be soon, right?” Ev tried to meet his eyes again, but Lukas was staring into his glass of eggnog. A smile lingered on his lips. “You are gonna ask her soon, aren’t you?”
Lukas looked up, that soft smile still on his lips. “I want to.”
“Don’t feel ready yet?”
He shrugged. “I’m pretty sure I’m ready. I’m just not sure if she is yet.” His gaze drifted over to Skylar, who was laughing with Callista and Fynn over something.
Ev stood up and patted him on the back. “Well, you go hang out with your girl. I’m gonna call mine. I’m starting to get worried.”
Lukas gave him a nod and went into the kitchen.
Ev stood in front of the fireplace, listening to the ringtone. Finally after five rings, she picked up. “Sorry, Ev, I’m almost there. The sitter was late and—”
“Who’s this?”
A pause. “Ev, it’s your wife.”
“Oh, I thought she had just… I don’t know, chosen not to go to the party.”
Ami laughed. “Oh, ok. Well guess what?”
“What?”
“She’s waiting outside the door. You should let her in because her hands are full.”
Ev laughed and walked over to the door. He opened it to see Ami holding the phone to her ear with her shoulder, her hands full of two dishes of food, and her purse dangling from her hand. “Do you think I should help her?” Ev asked into the phone.
Ami gave him a tucked-chin, raised-eyebrow look, so within a few seconds Ev was helping her carry in everything.
After all the food was put in the kitchen and greetings were exchanged, Ami plopped onto the couch in front of the crackling fireplace. “Sorry I’m late. The sitter didn’t show up until seven and the traffic was horrible.”
“Uh-huh.” Ev leaned over the back of the couch and planted a kiss on her cheek.
“Oh don’t you go silently accusing me of oversleeping.”
“I bet the kids woke you up.”
Ami chuckled. “Alright you got me. Yes, I fell asleep on the couch so they woke me up and reminded me that it was time for me to get ready.”
Ev smiled. “The party was boring without you.”
“Sure. If you say so. I’m surprised you waited this long.”
“It will be worth it, trust me.”
She tilted her head up, her brow furrowed. “What do you mean?”
Ev hopped away with a smirk on his face and stood under a doorway.
Ami stood up and walked over to him. Her gaze flew to the mistletoe hung above the threshold. “Ah, I understand.” She smiled.
Ev pulled her close and gave her a warm, tender kiss.
She looked up at him, her green eyes sparkling. “Maybe it was worth it.”
“You think we should get one of these at home?” He motioned above them with his eyes, a playful grin dancing across his lips.
Ami laughed. “Sure. Just be sure to keep it up all year.”
“Don’t worry, I will.” He smiled. Then gently held her face in his hands and placed another kiss on her lips.

I honestly forgot about this topic, and I’ve been busy this week, but I’m gonna see if I can drop a story or something in here in the next couple days.
