*drums fingers on table* Yeah… it’s about what it sounds like. It’s a super easy read, and several people have read it in a day or two. My biggest problem is trying to integrate the Christian elements I want into the book, so that is mainly what you’ll be critiquing.
I don’t have an official synopsis, but it’s basically about a 16-year-old girl who is chosen to participate in a government-run competition to get into the last university on earth. As the competition turns fatal, she struggles with the faith she had as a child, and questions why God would let so many bad things happen as people are killed around her for failing simple tests.
Long story short, it’s just really hard to add Christian elements when I’ve never written Christian fiction before.
Trigger warning: lots of death (it ends up becoming a competition where characters who fail die) One very minor character commits s**c*d* rather than be forced to kill another competitor. The main character considers it as she deals with the hopelessness of her situation and understanding how God could possibly be in control.
If you like the Hunger Games, the Out of Time trilogy, or… pretty much any other dystopian book, you’ll probably enjoy this.
Anyways, if you might want to read it, let me know and either email me your email address at ekseaver [dot] author [at] gmail [dot] com, or tell me it in the comments. It’s in a google doc, so I’ll just share that with you. I’ll need it read by September 15th, so I can send it to an editor.

ekseaver.wordpress.comJuly 28, 2021 at 4:12 pm #102712Ahhh! I’m at chapter seventeen and I just can’t stop! This book is well-written, intriguing, and TOTALLY PUBLISHABLE! Make it happen, Emily. This needs to be published.
I just can’t stop thinking about how amazing this is! I don’t know how many times I’ve laughed out loud… (and I seriously almost cried once!) And the characterization… *chef’s kiss* I’m really at a loss for words. I HAVE COMPETE FAITH IN YOU, this will TOTALLY be successful!

July 29, 2021 at 6:56 am #102724@e-k-seaver I honestly don’t have much or any experience with writing or reading Christian fiction, so I honestly can’t be of much help, besides giving you, like, y’know, a regular reader’s perspective. You have my email already, so if you want to send it to me, I’d be happy to give it a read.
Lately, it's been on my brain
Would you mind letting me know
