It stands for Myers Briggs Type Indicator. Myers Briggs was a psychologist who studied personality types. He divided people into 16 different personality types. There’s a free test you can take here. It’s incredibly accurate.

MBTI stands for Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. There are different, 4 letter personality types that are determined by a test and it gives a profile about the result type. It’s really useful for keeping characters consistent. 🙂
I usually use this site, so you can find out more there: https://www.16personalities.com/personality-types

Well, @daeus, looks like we were posting at the same time. XD
Out of curiosity, have you looked into the cognitive functions at all?

@writefury I’m not sure what you mean by cognitive functions? Is that the second stage test thing?

@daeus It’s sort of a different way to look at the test. Going by function stacks with Introverted and Extroverted Feeling (Fi/Fe), Introverted and Extroverted Thinking (Ti/Te), Introverted and Extroverted Intuition (Ni/Ne) and Introverted and Extroverted Sensing (Si/Se).
For example, instead of an ESTJ preferring Extroversion, Sensing, Thinking and Judging, they have the function stack of Te, Si, Ne and Fi.
That might not make much sense… 😛

@writefury Huh, that’s interesting. I’ve never heard of that. How does one decide which of those they are?

@daeus It’s supposedly determined by the same test. But I think research is a better way. I mean, going by functions, I’m an ISFJ, but if I go by simply preferences, I’m an ESFP. So it’s a little wonky. 😛 Actually, this site has a list of the types with the functions: http://www.25quiz.com/type-descriptions

That’s really cool. I think I’m probably an ENiFeJ. I like being specific like that.

It is pretty cool…I used it for characterization a little while ago.

Wow!! This is a great idea! I’m gonna have to start using this for characterization. I’ve never heard of the cognitive functions though.. I’m gonna have to check it out.
