So I’ve come to fill out profile templates for some of my characters…usually I don’t bother because it takes up so much of my time, haha, but I’ve decided to plot this work…anyway, I used to have some templates for characters and things but I’m interested to see what ya’ll use! Feel free to share, haha, I could use some help…

If hours don't turn into daysFebruary 3, 2021 at 12:09 pm #91397I use the How to Write a Novel Using the Snowflake Method book by Randy Ingermanson, and also a lot of the resources/videos from Abbie Emmons’ YouTube channel (both for my plot and character development).

didn’t even know that was a thing until nowSoooo I don’t know of anything but I’ve heard lots of great things about Abbie Emmons, so if Jenna says to check that out then I second it!!God gives His hardest battles to His strongest soldiers.
TeenWritersNook.comFebruary 3, 2021 at 12:52 pm #91402In the early stages of TSW, I used an app called ‘Wassi’ which means ‘Writers Assistant’.
It was extremely helpful in fleshing out the basics of my characters and world. I even look back at those templates still for fresh inspiration.Otherwise, for characters, it once seemed to me that they were all too much alike. So I took a separate piece of paper for each and wrote in separate boxes what the character’s clothes, personalities, skills, faults, fears, and etc were. Then I just used a line that summed them up and wrote it at the bottom of the paper.

@devastate-lasting Well…I’ve tried using character templates, but none of them fit for his-fic characters (or pirates, for that matter), so I’ve kind of developed my own. And my plotting/outlining process differs between stories. The ideas I’ve had for years I really just wing (because after mentally writing a book seventy-five time, an outline seems pretty worthless), but my new ones vary.
This is kind of what my outlining process looks like: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qLB-aew7RUTOcRZL7zB0aNCeSa31y2HAvlotaHxxY-k/edit?usp=sharing
