@rochellaine This thread is AMAZING. Where has it been all my life? Making names is so hard for me. All of these are so cool. If I end up using any, Ill let ya’ll know! Also, all the names people shared were awesome!
I can't believe it's not butter!

@rochellaine My favorites from your list are Kirlas and Grogalmon. I’m gonna name my new heroine Kirlas (if that’s okay with you), and Grogalmon…it’s too hilarious of a name for me to not use it somehow.
January 16, 2018 at 11:32 pm #60450@itisastarrynight Please do use them, and please do tell us if you do! 🙂
@waterlily I love Kirlas! She sounds like a strong but sweet girl. I’ve been imagining her with brown hair and green eyes, but is that totally different from how she will be in – um – unreal life? 🙂 Let me know a teeny bit about your story, because I feel like a mother to her…
And Grogalmon. Use him well. My imagination hasn’t settled on form or features to go with such a strange name, so please, please, tell me who and what he turns out to be!
I’m really hoping someone will use Lisilan, Kethra, and Jeale Carain. And all the rest. And the others I’ve been making up in the meantime which I will eventually post here as well. 🙂 🙂

January 17, 2018 at 9:18 am #60457@rochellaine I am actually strongly considering using Kethra in future stories 😀 I have NO idea who she will be or what story she’ll be in yet
You can pronounce it however you want.
January 17, 2018 at 10:43 am #60461@dekreel Hooray for Kethra! 🙂
But I’m kind of worried that you’ll tell me who she’ll be, since I picture her as a person, but someone who likes to draw strange looking creatures might end up turning her into one…
Am I right? Or does Kethra have a chance of surviving in the human world? 🙂

January 17, 2018 at 11:39 am #60466@rochellaine Why, thank you! Larik is one of my favorites, too.

January 17, 2018 at 11:40 am #60467@rochellaine Again, I have NO idea who she will be. She might be human, she might be creature……… *shrug*
Would you WANT me to tell you who she is?
You can pronounce it however you want.
January 17, 2018 at 11:45 am #60468@dekreel, Ohhh, I don’t know! If she’s a person, probably. If she’s a normal animal like fox or tiger, probably again. If she’s a strange creature with a lizard’s body, a cat’s legs, and a peacock tail – probably not! 🙂 But I don’t care what you use it for, I just care what my own impressions of her are.

January 17, 2018 at 11:46 am #60469@dekreel, As I said in the first post, I don’t write fantasy. 🙂 I go for the classic and the realistic, not the fantastical and grotesque. But then, that’s why I put the names out, right? So people could use them in ways I couldn’t!

If you want some interesting old sounding names the old testament t is FULL of them haha.. just find a chapter full of ‘this person begat this person’ or ‘this person the son of this person’ etc 🙂and I was so confused
January 17, 2018 at 3:23 pm #60490@notawriter I totally agree! Even in the New Testament in the “credits” sections of Paul’s letters there are some unusual names. I mean, everyone’s heard of the name Aquila, but no one uses it because it sounds a little strange for a boy.

@rochellaine Shestunk made me laugh when i read it. 🙂 I like Shalmirax, Janrewell, and Takital.
Also, I have a thread over in Novel Idea Critiques that has a blurb about Kirlas’s story. I’ll tag you in it so you can find it.
