@ariella-newheart Oh, I feel you. I’ve struggled with this a bit myself. 🙂
The first names that came to mind: Leslie (both), Dara (girl), Parker (boy), Delphine (girl), Red (both), Marcus (boy), Georgia (girl).
Hope those help!

March 7, 2018 at 10:07 am #65792@ariella-newheart Are your characters male or female? 🙂
"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
March 7, 2018 at 6:10 pm #65828@ingridrd Ah, I might use the name Marcus. Thanks!
@rochellaine Oops, I guess I should have specified that. I’m changing the names of two male characters, and possibly one female character. 😀INFJ. An extroverted introvert who loves to write and draw.

I need a girl’s name that very unusual and very foreign-sounding. Almost alien. But not ugly. The names I came up with are: Ranwyn/Rhanwyn, Jewyn, Lenwyn, or something similar. Or not. 😛 Anything will do just fine!
And if I don’t use any of those, does anyone know a word in a different language that means “caretaker?” That would be cool, too.
Any ideas?
You can pronounce it however you want.
March 7, 2018 at 10:44 pm #65855@dekreel I just did a multi-language search of the word “Caretaker” and came up with some pretty cool names. (I hope you meant for a girl. 🙂 ) So I’ll put the actual word first, and then the possible name ideas into which it could be modified.
Ouium could be modified to Ouia
Pahak (Paki?) (If it’s actually a boy, Pahak or Paki should work for a boy too.)
Atezain (Zaina, Atinez)
Wosamalira (Wolira, Malira, Alira, Lira)
Pavadonis (Pava, Donisa, Pavis)
(my favorite) Kaitiak (Kaitia, Kaki, Katiki, Tiaki)
Like any of these?
"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
March 7, 2018 at 11:01 pm #65856@dekreel Oh, I forgot to say that Kaitia would probably be pronounced similar to Letitia with the “t” making a “sh” sound. But not necessarily. 🙂

Kapeefer til we're old and greyMay 12, 2018 at 11:21 am #72436@alia Ummm…
Well this is for a brand new story idea (born this morning!) so I just wanted something I could call her. So far all I know about her is that she’s a rebellious princess who lives in a fantasy kingdom near the sea, and she is about 16.
I like to base my characters around their names, so meanings would be great!

http://www.encircledbygrace.com/May 12, 2018 at 1:51 pm #72438My sidekick in my WIP was without a name until March because I wanted one with a meaning. so for the longest time her name was Her
Abigail: A father’s joy
Ellie: Shining light
Jacintha: Beautiful (I don’t know how you feel about the meaning, but I like the name)
Keva: Beautiful child
Lynne: Beautiful waterfall
Orabelle: Beautiful seacoast
Tazanna: Beautiful princess
Abhaya: Fearless
Dhara: Constant flow
Naila: Successful
Fawziya: Victorious
Davina: Beloved
Aarohi: A musical tone
Amolika: Priceless
Faye: Loyalty
Namya: Worthy of honor
Tove: Thunder
Acacia: Thorny
Tallulah: Running water
Seraphina: Fiery-winged
Gwyneth: Blessed
Leontine: Lion
Camilla: Free born
Kate: Pure
Mia: wished for child and rebellion
Alright, I think I gave you a few to many names. I tend to get over excited when looking at names. But I’m going to give you one more that I really like, and ended up using for Her.
Delmira: Noble protector
Hope this helps
