I need some good historical fiction recommendations. I’m at our library for at least 35 more minutes, (Maybe more)
@emily @shannon @daeus @winter-rose @catwing (If any of y’all know anyone here who is partial to HF could you lemme’ know?)
I know there’s a lot of fantasy lovers here but I thought I’d see.

@salome01w4g Have you read any of Elizabeth George Speare’s work? My favorites are the Witch of Blackbird Pond, (don’t worry, it isn’t about a witch😉) and Calico Captive. Other than that, G.A. Henry is really good too.
Oh, and I just remembered that those are kind of Christian books, so I am not sure if they would have them at your library.August 28, 2017 at 10:32 am #42071Anonymous- Rank: Eccentric Mentor

I think that there is a thread for that, although I haven’t checked out yet. @salome01w4g

@salome01w4G Definitely you should check out Elizabeth George Speare’s books! They are great. Especially “The Witch of Blackbird Pond” (there is no actually witch in it, if you are worried about reading about witches 😉) and “Calico Captive”.

@salome01w4g Also, Rosemary Sutcliff’s “The Roman Britain Trilogy” is great.
August 28, 2017 at 11:06 am #42077I’ve read Speare’s books before though the Witch of Blackbird pond I found the beginning grueling to get through. 😛 @shannon Hmmm I’ll look that up

@salome01w4g That’s too bad, maybe you should try the Witch of Blackbird Pond again. It is one of my favorite books!
August 28, 2017 at 12:29 pm #42084@Salome01w4g I know you’re probably gone by now, but have you ever read Johnny Tremain? That’s one of my favorite historical fiction books ever.
