This is sort-of-kind-of on topic, but @bluejay @clairec would you please keep me in your prayers? You see, I just became a youth leader for the sixth/ seventh graders at church…tonight was my first youth night as a leader, and I don’t think I did that well…for one thing, it’s forcing me to step out of my comfort zone…some of them are going through some rough situations at home, and I really need the Holy Spirit’s help because I honestly don’t know what to tell them. I don’t have the answers, and it seems unfair that such young children are in such horrible situations…Anyway, thank you.
September 15, 2016 at 4:01 am #17379@sarah-h, I will certainly pray for you! I don’t know, but I think that sometimes the Lord puts us in situations that leave us scratching our heads so we can learn to rely on Him. Just a thought. Praying for you. 🙂

September 15, 2016 at 4:18 am #17380@sarah-h Of course I will pray. The Lord will guide you. Trust in Him. 🙂
September 15, 2016 at 4:20 am #17381@sarah-h, @bluejay, @anna-brie, how are you guys going with your no-reading-in-the-month-of-September? I’m going all right, I haven’t really had much time to read, anyway.

September 15, 2016 at 5:56 am #17398@clairec It’s going great for me. I have read so many new and wonderful books. Right now (well not right at this minute 😛 ) I’m reading a book about Smigglesworth. Do you know anything about him? You can look back at previous posts if you want to know the other books that I’ve been reading. *pauses* Or I could just write them here. Gifted Hands (I think you knew that) A Man Called Peter, and I’ve been doing devotion books too. I was doing one every morning, but I got a bit slack and I’ve forgotten to do it theses past few days.
September 15, 2016 at 6:05 am #17403@bluejay. I’ve read a book on Charles Spurgeon, and am now reading a John MacArthur Jr. book on integrity. I’m really enjoying it. I’ve heard of Smigglesworth. What do you think of him? Are you enjoying the book?

September 15, 2016 at 6:13 am #17404I think he’s amazing @clairec And yes, the book is really well written. It has me hooked. 🙂 I have books by Charles Spurgeon. I should read them.
September 15, 2016 at 6:28 am #17405@bluejay, my favourite author is probably John Macarthur Jr. You can listen to his sermons online, and they’re very good! 🙂 He has sound doctrine, and is in no way wishy-washy. You should check out his website, https://www.gty.org/
I’ll have to do some research on Wigglesworth. 🙂Official Member of the Certified Club of Aussie Kapeefers
September 17, 2016 at 4:24 am #17481@bluejay @clairec Thanks for the prayers. I feel so inadequate, but the Lord keeps reminding me of that verse in Corinthians – is it first or second?- that says His strength is made perfect in weakness. I certainly have plenty of that. 🙂 I really haven’t been reading the Bible as much as I should; I need to get back on that. @bluejay Wait…are you reading about Smigglesworth, or Wigglesworth? Or both? My parents had a book by Wigglesworth, but I never took the time to read it. I’ve never heard of Smigglesworth, though. What is A Man Called Peter about? I keep seeing it, but I really have no idea what it is. Did you enjoy it?
September 17, 2016 at 4:45 am #17485@sarah-h You’re right. It i Wigglesworth. His first name is Smith, so I guess I was confusing both.
The book I have is Apostle of Faith. A Man Called Peter is about a Scottish minister who went from Chaplain to United State Senate in nineteen years. This one was a bit more about him and his wife Catherine Marshall, but it still had some of his sermons in the book. Very funny in spots, but a very sad ending, and yet a happy one too. 🙂- This reply was modified 8 years, 2 months ago by BlueJay.
September 17, 2016 at 5:13 am #17493@bluejay Wow, that does sound interesting. I’ll have to read it sometime. 🙂
September 21, 2016 at 4:19 am #17767@bluejay @clairec @Anna-Brie I know I’m deplorably late, but I just found a good Christian nonfiction book to read, and I like it a lot. It’s called “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” by Joshua Harris. I’ve always known that I didn’t want to date, but lately I’ve had a really hard time explaining to my new friends why I won’t do it. I think I got caught up in trying to explain the technical differences between dating and courtship, instead of explaining the heart behind my decision. Reading this book helped me to clarify my thoughts – I want to wholeheartedly serve God with my life, and if He wants me to get married, He will bring that about. I don’t have to “go fishing”. God created romance for marriage, to be shared with one person for a lifetime, and He knows the person He has chosen for me. I will wait for Him.
September 21, 2016 at 4:29 am #17771@sarah-h, My sister’s read that! 🙂 It sounds very good…
