I really like this idea! It seems really interesting and I would totally start reading this. How do the crystals absorb the Resonance? Oh, I also love the idea of the caves being warmer than the surface, and inhabitable.

I am aware of Legion, but I haven’t read it. I would say that the main thing that differentiates Krenna is that unlike either of those characters, these other personalities are somewhat real, and not figments of imagination resulting from a mental illness.

That’s a fair distinction. In regard to Legion specifically though, while it is the result of a mental illness, the reality of it is consistently called into question, while usually established as not real, it still feels real, and the experience is real, so what really makes it not real, and that sort of path of insanity. So even if it is established as real, it could be interesting to explore similar themes, like perhaps the different sides of herself may be less convinced of reality, if they become that independent. Krenna might be more similar to the Shal’le though if that’s not the case, have I told you about the them? I don’t think I have, but they also follow a similar concept, though perhaps less extreme. They are a race I created that have two independent lines of thought, though they are still one individual. You could think of it as a whole race and culture of people with multiple personality disorder and/or split mind (split mind is a real medical condition, just if you weren’t aware, it might be interesting to study for Krenna if you haven’t). This takes affect in their language, where one language is encoded into another, allowing them to have two independent conversations at the same time. They have huge difficulty making decisions when young, until some guidance from their parents allows them to act diplomatic to themselves.
He is perfect in Justice, yet He is perfect in Mercy, even when we fail Him. For this, He is good.
That is a very interesting concept.
In regards to Krenna, one thing that makes a big difference from Shallan or Legion is that these fragments of her consciousness are completely real and can interact with other people. The only thing about them that is illusory is that they aren’t actually different people, even though the do adopt their own personalities. They are still ultimately an extension of her.

How do the crystals absorb the Resonance?
So as I said, Resonance emanates from the planet core (there’s a reason for that, but it’s kind of complicated and not that important right now.) The Resonance passes through everything on its way through the planet. The crystals just happen to of a perfect geometric shape to trap the Resonance inside. You could create an artificial container out of glass or something that would function similarly. Technically, most objects on the planet probably contain a small amount of Resonance, but crystals retain it way better than most objects.

I have created a new character, the villain:Vilsayor
Vilsayor is a high-ranking nobleman and the leader of a conspiracy to unleash an ancient being from the core of the planet, using Resonance Crystals. He embezzles Resonance Crystals for his followers to use. He has the Resonance of Temporality, which lets him control the speed of his progress through time.He is trying to discover the Resonance of Destruction, which lets you fracture molecular bonds, but so far he hasn’t gotten his hands on any Crimson Fragite, the rare crystal that grants this ability.
I have also created two new Resonances. The reason for this is that the Resonances fit on a table in the following way:
Four columns that represent the effect they have (combination, separation, infusion/absorption, and distortion) and three rows that represent what they affect (spirit, matter, and forces.) Each Resonance has one of those four effects on either spirit, matter, or forces. Some examples: Fusion (Vlydia’s power) is the Combination + Matter power, because it lets her attach physical objects. Consciousness (Krenna’s power) is the Separation + Spirit power, because it lets her split her spiritual essence.
Originally, Dynamism (Nedan’s power) filled in three slots: combination + energy, separation + energy, and absorption/infusion + energy. This is because Dynamism reasonably filled these roles. But in the end I decided I didn’t want this anomaly in the order of things, so I created a separate combination + energy and separation + energy powers. (Dynamism didn’t change, so in some ways it is purely better than these new ones, but it has some disadvantages.)Resonance of Infusion
This power draws trace energy from the environment and infuses it into one object.
Resonance of DissipationThis power strips energy away from an object and disperses it into the environment.
Now that you know the order, if you want, you can try to figure out the abilities I haven’t mentioned yet. For convenience, here’s a full list of the powers I’ve mentioned along with the place they go in the table. (Unfortunately, I can’t upload an actual table):
Consciousness: The spiritual separation power.
Temporality: The spiritual distortion power.
Fusion: The material combination power.
Destruction: The material separation power.
Infusion: The energetic combination power.
Dissipation: The energetic separation power.
Dynamism: The energetic absorption/infusion power.The ones I haven’t mentioned:
The spiritual combination power,the spiritual absorption/infusion power,
the material absorption/infusion power,the material distortion power,
and the energetic distortion power.

Thanks! That wasn’t originally my plan, but at one point I noticed that there was a bit of a pattern with the powers I had so far. After realizing that, I designed the table, struck off some powers that didn’t fit, and designed more to fill the empty spaces.🏰 Fantasy Writer

LEFSE FOREVER!!!!!! <333Thanks! I was inspired to try making magic systems after reading some of Brandon Sanderson’s books. He has a lot of really cool ones, and I decided to try making some myself. This is my best magic system, and I would say none of my others are nearly this good. It isn’t an easy process for me. My process usually starts with a single idea. In this case, it was the crystals. I wondered what I could do with crystals, and after I decided on the symbiosis mechanic, I basically just started throwing together cool powers, figuring out what ideas fit together and what didn’t. Eventually I figured out how they fit as a table and that let me fill in everything.
Another way I sometimes start magic systems is getting an idea for a specific power. I have another magic system I can use as an example. I thought, it would be cool to have a system where people can telekinetically control their weapons. So then I thought, what does it have to be like for that to work? I didn’t want characters to just have plain telekinesis that lets them control anything, so how do they control their weapons specifically? I decided that their would be some sort of magic ability that let them bind pieces of metal to their will, essentially making them extensions of their body.
Once you have a basic mechanic, thinking, what else could this do? Is a good way to expand. (I don’t really have an example for this.)
So that’s my basic process. Hopefully that was helpful, and hopefully you actually wanted some advice lol!

I like that you fixed the magic system to implement more even structure. That sort of thing would have driven me nuts. Though it does make me ask the question of what makes these sorts of interactions fundamental in the structure of the crystals? What is the system that makes each individual crystal effect those aspects of reality? Go ahead and ignore this question if you want😅

I haven’t developed him as far as personality or motivations go yet, but I eventually will.
Yeah, the main reason I originally didn’t have those two powers, was because they didn’t seem very useful—and they still aren’t, but I realized that they didn’t really need to be useful anyway.
I haven’t figured out all the reasons behind the crystals’ functionality, but it is sourced by one of the twelve angelic deities of Celestiar. This one is sealed in the planet’s core along with the evil being that Vilsayor is trying to unleash.
