Also man Tony and Steve need some help, and Fury’s so pouty! Is this like pre character development? Like does it occur after the first avengers movie or before?

And this is after the first Avengers movie, but kinda leading up to Civil War, so tensions are already running high…I’m changing a few things with these fics, as they are AUs, so, yeahhh 😂

C h a p t e r 14
Bucky
They should have been back by now.
He knew that some missions took a while, but Fury said it was something small…shouldn’t the other Avengers have been back?
“I’m sure I’m wasting your time. I should probably get going.” Viola said, seated at the kitchen table, drinking a cup of lemonade that Alex had reluctantly given her.
“They should have been back here by now,” Fury muttered, “but you’re free to leave when you want.”
Viola smiled, her ruby red lips a deep contrast to her almost deathly pale skin. “Well, I suppose I can wait a little while longer. They can’t be much longer, can they?”
Ryo crowed something undiscernible from where he sat in a highchair at the table.
Alex smiled gently at Ryo, but something seemed very wrong with her.
Not that Bucky blamed her.
This woman, Viola, she…freaked him out.
He was just good at hiding it.
Meela and Mayla had met her too and were just as suspicious.
They all were…Fury just hid it because he wanted Ryo gone.
Fury crossed his arms across his chest, standing. “I wish you didn’t have to wait this long, but-“
“Who’s the business lady sitting in the kitchen?”
Bucky turned.
Tony walked into the kitchen, still wearing his suit, minus his helmet, and he smirked at Fury. “You striking a deal with a large company or something?”
“Fury’s selling us out. Should’ve known,” Clint winked, “and…hey, is that lemonade?”
Alex nodded, smiled, and stood. “Sure is. Made it myself. You want some?”
“Yes Ma’am, please.” Clint replied, laying down his bow and quiver against the wall.
Fury gave Steve a small glare as he entered the room, then turned his attention to Tony.
Bucky slightly adjusted his position and faced Steve. “What took so long?”
“There was a guy with superpowers there. We fought him, but he got away. Who’s the woman in the suit?”
“Viola. She says she’s Ryo’s mother.”
“He looks nothing like her.”
Bucky nodded. “I know…and she’s just…”
Steve raised an eyebrow, concern filling his blue eyes. “Odd?”
“Yeah…odd.”
“Buck,” Steve squeezed his shoulder, “you’re safe here, remember? I won’t let anyone hurt you.”
Bucky squeezed Steve’s arm with his metal hand and smiled. “Thanks, pal. Don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Steve smiled back and nodded, squeezing Bucky’s shoulder again. “Same here, Buck.”
“Rogers, a word.”
Steve faced Fury and nodded, stepping away. He gave Bucky a small smile. “I’ll be right back, Buck.”
Bucky nodded.
Steve and Fury left the room.
Bucky turned his attention back to everyone in the kitchen. Wanda was at the stove, already starting on something for dinner, Vision at her side, while everyone else sat around the table, talking.
Ryo yawned and rubbed his eyes.
Peter looked at him and smiled. “Uh oh, I think someone’s tired.”
Alex stood from where she had just sat down, finished giving everyone that wanted a drink some lemonade. “I can-“
“I’ll take him. You can sit back down.” Bucky replied, interrupted, going over, and picking Ryo up from beneath his small, chubby arms.
He swung Ryo onto his hip and wiped a few leftover animal cracker crumbs from Ryo’s lips and cheeks.
He didn’t mind putting Ryo to bed.
And besides, he wanted to get away from that Viola woman.
C h a p t e r 15
Tony
“Why did we have to all be in this meeting? Isn’t Steve the one who broke your order to stay at the tower?” Tony asked, leaning back in his seat at the meeting room table.
Fury glared at him.
Not that Tony cared. Technically, Tony owned this tower, so he could kick out anyone he wanted to kick out.
Hmm, now that was an idea. He could kick Bucky out.
“I already spoke to him. This meeting isn’t about that, Stark,” Fury snarled, “it’s about all of the kids you’ve all let into the tower.”
“This again?” Steve groaned.
Tony put up his hands, palms out. “Listen, I didn’t let any of them in. That was Steve and Clint’s doing…mostly Steve’s.”
Steve rolled his eyes to the ceiling.
Fury glared at Steve, his gaze carrying the hint, the air, of an unspoken threat.
“We’re the Avengers, Rogers…a world saving team, not a babysitting service.”
“They need our help, Fury, and-“
“And it’s not our job to take in all of the enhanced kids in this world. None of you even asked for my permission to let any of the kids in, and you, Rogers, hid Alex from the entire team except for Barnes.”
Fury was fuming…Tony could tell. He’d been on the receiving end of Fury’s rage before, several times, so he knew exactly what it looked like.
“She needed help, and I knew that you and Tony-“
Tony held up his hands, interrupting Steve. “Hey, leave me out of this.”
“Tony, we all know that you weren’t exactly for Alex, Meela, Mayla, and Ryo staying here, same as Fury,” Natasha noted, “and you still don’t want them here.”
Clint raised an eyebrow. “You guys do know that Meela and Mayla don’t have parents, right? Their older brother is taking care of them…their parents have been missing for years.”
“No, Clint, we didn’t know that,” Rhodey rolled his eyes, “because you didn’t give us that information.”
“So…Meela and Mayla are pretty much orphans too?” Sam asked, raising an eyebrow.
Clint shrugged. “Pretty much.”
“It’s hard, not having parents,” Wanda’s gaze fell, “very hard.”
Vision wrapped an arm around Wanda and held her close.
“It doesn’t matter if their orphans…we’re not an orphanage, and these kids shouldn’t be here. I don’t care if they need our help…we can’t afford to get distracted.” Fury said, and by his tone, he was ending the discussion.
Tony nodded. “I agree.”
“Distraction would be bad,” Vision nodded, “but I also believe leaving them out on the streets alone would be just as unwise.”
“They could lose all control over their powers,” Clint shrugged, “and I mean, I guess if you want that…we can just throw them out back into the street with uncontrolled powers.”
Wow, Clint was such a comedian.
Tony rolled his eyes. “Hilarious, Clint.”
“Tony, he’s being serious. Meela and Mayla can’t control their powers, and we don’t know how well Alex can, either, and Ryo certainly can’t…so if we let them back out into the world, Tony…and their powers get out on control…who knows what could happen.”
“Natasha’s right, Tony.” Bruce put in.
Tony raised an eyebrow. “Whose side are you on, Bruce?”
Bruce shrugged. “She’s right, Tony…I understand what happens when powers get out of control, you know I do.”
“That would be even more disastrous than getting distracted, wouldn’t it?” Thor put in.
Fury stood. “This discussion is over, Avengers. Those kids are leaving. Ryo is going with his mother-“
Thor raised an eyebrow. “How do we know Viola is the mother?”
“She said she has birth papers…I’ll speak with her. Besides, he’d be in better hands with her than here…and at least we wouldn’t have to handle him any longer. He’s not our problem. This discussion is finished-“
“No, it’s not. This discussion is far from over,” Steve stood, “but seeing that some of the people in this room don’t care about those kids’ safety, I’ll watch out for them myself.” He set his helmet, which he’d been holding in his lap, on the table and faced Fury. “See you later, Fury.”
Steve turned around and marched out of the room.
Tony rolled his eyes. “That could’ve gone better.”

You’re very welcome!!!! Aww, glad you enjoy them!! 💖 ahhh…idk, I guess all the books are so different, lol! idk…I’m just able to keep track of all of my fanfics AND all of my actual books…multitasking seems to come natural to me somehow 😂
This one is the first in a planned 5-book series…so yeahhhh…I have a lot of things to write XXD
